Product is nice, but Amazon failed to deliver the first order and gave me misleading advice
I would have given 5 stars, but took one off due to poor customer service (I'm being generous). First, I'll explain the problem: This product was advertised at a "Black Friday" discount price of $148 when I placed my first order on November 28, 2019. It was supposed to arrive on December 1, but tracking info first indicated that it went to an "incorrect carrier facility" (Hanover US) on November 30. The most recent tracking status I received was "Package delayed in transit" at 8:00 PM December 1, but the shipment never arrived. I contacted Amazon customer service by chat on December 4 and was told a refund would be issued for the lost shipment, which I did receive. However, I still wanted this item -- but by that time the price had increased to $185. The chat representative responded "...go ahead and place another order and write back to us after the product is delivered and we will issue refunds for the proce (sic) difference." The second order did arrive, so I wrote back by email on December 9 but never received the promised refund. I followed up again this morning (January 4, 2020) by email, and was told in a reply "I am sorry for the hassle you have faced in this regard. However I would like to request you to kindly re order the exact same items with the current price only and once it is delivered, just free to contact us. Only then we will be able to issue you the price difference. Rest be assured. We will surely do as promised." Of course, I already reordered on December 4 and wasn't about to do it again. So I just spent about 20 minutes on the phone with another Amazon rep, and now I'm told there will NOT be any credit issued for the $37 difference, because "the price fluctuates". This phone rep also told me the $148 shown on Amazon's site November 28 was incorrect. I beg to differ, that's what was shown on the original invoice -- and, if the shipment hadn't been lost, I wouldn't be having this conversation! This dispute needs to be escalated, but on to the review of the fridge.I plan to do some car camping later this year and wanted a small device to keep some food and a few beverages cool on the road. Since I sleep on a mattress pad in the back of my SUV, the fridge had to be compact enough to fit on the floor under the glove box at night -- so after checking dimensions, I figured it would just fit in the spot - and it does. Other products I considered had fixed handles that would have extended too far, but these handles are hinged and fit in a recess when not in use -- a good feature. The capacity is large enough for my needs as a solo camper; with three 1 liter water bottles laying horizontally at the bottom of the 9" x 13" cooler compartment, there's still 5" of depth for food such as cold cuts, yogurt, cheese, butter, etc. My vehicle is equipped with an 18 amp-hour 12 volt AGM battery to power mobile ham radio gear and connected through a West Mountain PG40S Super PWRgate which acts as a charger when the engine is running. I ran a test to determine if the fridge would stay at 34F overnight (in ECO mode) without running down that battery, and was pleased to see it still do the job after 15 hours. With compressor and fans running, DC current demand was measured at around 2.4 amps with battery fully charged and showing 12.6 volts under load. 15 hours later, I measured 2.5 amps with 11.95 volts across the battery terminals under load. Standby current is 50 to 60 mA and the duty cycle was around 30 percent. Please note that I had already chilled the three 1 liter water bottles before starting this test, so the fridge was simply maintaining the 34F interior temperature. Of course, energy demand and duty cycle will be higher when initially loaded with items at room temperature -- but in my case, the vehicle will be its source of power until I stop for the night, so that's not a concern. Switching to MAX mode increases the maximum current demand to 3.5 amps.Compressor and fans are very quiet, so I expect no problem sleeping. I expect to set battery protection at medium level, which is supposed to prevent the compressor from starting if the batteries are below 11.8 volts, however, I haven't yet tested this. I also tried freezing three liters of water using the AC adapter in MAX mode with thermostat set at 0F, and it took about six hours to take them from room temperature to ice. Control panel switches are apparently capacitance sensors under a waterproof plastic cover, and I've had no problems with them, nor have I experienced any issues when the connectors on the power cords. The interior LED light is a nice feature, but it's centered about 4-1/2" up from the bottom would be blocked if the compartment is full of food. There's no fan to circulate air inside the compartment; the coil is wrapped around the perimeter and depends on convection to pull heat from items in the center. In general, I'm happy with the product so far and will update this review as time goes on.

Doesn't fit my cigarette lighter socket :(
I was so happy when this device arrived. It is absolutely perfect!! I got it to take a road trip for 2 weeks with my dog. She eats frozen food, a feat hard to maintain for 2 weeks in a car without a freezer. When it arrived it was more spacious and pretty than I expected. It is super easy to use and fits comfortably behind the seat in my vehicle. The problem arose the day I was leaving for my road trip, when I discovered that apparently cigarette outlets are NOT universal. I stuffed all of her frozen food in it and plugged it in as I was setting out. Lo and behold, the contacts in the male part are too long for the female part, so the sides do not make contact with the metal in the cigarette lighter socket even when pushed all the way in.I was forced to make shorter segments to my destination and back, and pray the food stayed frozen until I got the next motel, then take it inside and plug it in to the DC outlet as soon as I got there and unplug it last the next day when I left.I am SO disappointed, I love this freezer and I thought my road trip problems were finally solved!Back to the drawing board, need to find something else.Oh, the other bad news is this item cannot be returned. So I'm stuck with an appliance that doesn't serve any purpose in my life. *sigh*

Much nicer then I expected
Update: best deal ever.I love this Ausranvik Fridge already. The lid is nice heavy duty with a latch to give a nice tight seal. One thing that needs improving is the easy to adjust display. I have cats and if they jump on it they could change a setting instantly. Needs a protective cover. Lucky I had this little tray so taped it to the console once I set it.I placed 10 bottles of room temp. water in fridge (still had room left). Plugged it to my power station and in 6 hrs it cooled to 37/40 degrees. I put it to 35 to allow for fluctuating temp. The 500 watt station still read 85% after 6 hours of cool down. I am using the eco mode on the fridge with the high setting for volts but could use low with my lithium station. The motor is super quiet and 12 hrs later it hardly comes on at all.It does plug in the front and with the electric you have the power big brick to place only about 8 inches from the unit. I just velcro to the shelf. Placed the fridge on a shelf liner to keep from sliding. If you have a shelf above it needs at least a 16" clearance plus allow about 2.5 inches or better at the back so lid can open completely and remain open.It has a lot more space then expected and is easy to pick up when empty. Was packed very well by manufacture and Amazon.VERY PLEASED. Just hope it holds up as well over time.

Camping to Glamping upgrade
This freezer unit is the second one I have purchased Of the Ausranvik brand. I have the 26 qt unit I use as a fridge and wanted a second unit to use as a freezer. It is used strictly off grid. I use Goal Zero Yetis for power and plug the 12 volt line into the Yeti. The unit cools down rapidly to -4 degrees F, taking less than an hour. The ambient temperature is usually 88 to 90’s and this freezer has no trouble obtaining and maintaining subzero temperatures. Do not expect it to freeze food or ice, however. Best use is to cool it and add already frozen food or, in my case, I make ice cubes for drinks and keep them in this freezer. It runs intermittently at about 50 watts or less and is easy on the Yeti. One 100 watt solar panel provides adequate power to run this freezer plus extra power to charge the Yeti. The interface is easy to use. I take pictures of the manual pages and create an album on my phone so I always have my manuals on hand, too. It is easy to clean and works good. I am very happy with Ausranvik fridge/freezers.
