Works Really Well, Easy to Clean
As some reviewers mentioned, it did leak a little once in a while (from the beginning). But I just keep a small towel underneath it. Problem solved.Pros:-It is very quiet.-Puts a lot of moisture into the air.-On low lasts through the night.-Easy to clean.-Little cup for essential oil over spot where the steam comes out. (Didn't realize this when I ordered it and had planned on putting oil directly into the water although I know this could damage a humidifier. Little cup is a much better solution.)Cons:-Seems a bit small, does need to be refilled a couple times a day when on high.-A little leaking occasionally.I don't find the shut off feature to be a hassle as some reviewers have. Turn it off, refill it and it doesn't need a full 15 minutes before it will turn on again, about 5-7 minutes is enough. No problem.I don't understand all the negative reviews for this humidifier. I am glad I bought it.

Great solution for a fair price
This is a logical an effective solution to low humidity in cold climate. Here are the positives:The water is steamed and raise the relative humidity. The operation is mostly quite. The ON light is green and I found it to be acceptable for my "sleeping style". Still, you can turn the humidifier away to avoid the light. The humidifier is relatively small and does not occupy much floor space. The weaker points? The tank lasts for less that 24 hours. I find it acceptable as I am working outside the house but some would wish for a larger tank/The filling process is awkward. The edges of the filling hole where you have to hold it are sharp. Better design of molded parts could have resolved it.As a whole, this is a good product that provides a silent solution to adding moisture to a room. It is priced right too. Recommended

Final update - taking it out to the recycling bin
Update 6/11/11 - Per my new title, this abomination is getting recycled. It stopped working because it again became encrusted with minerals. I let it sit unused for a few days because I didn't have time to take it apart and soak it in vinegar. I finally took it to my kitchen counter for the routine hassle of cleaning it and...discovered that it had oozed its residue onto the carpet beneath it. What was previously medium-brown carpet is bleached white with sickly pink edges. While I was busy fretting over my carpet, it was sitting on my charcoal-colored countertop creating additional bleach stains. It didn't work great to start with (ran dry in less than 7 hours) and it has damaged my apartment. Awful. This winter I will do what I should have done last winter - shell out for a decent humidifier. Do not waste your money on this. My original review is below.----This is not a bad humidifier for the price. The main drawbacks are that it does not hold enough water to humidify a medium- to large-sized room for any length of time, and that it requires frequent and extensive cleaning.Pros:Style. It looks very nice. Its size (11"H x 11"W x 6.5"D) means that it will fit nicely on a nightstand or in a small corner.Ease of use. It can be used right out of the box; it's not even necessary to read the instructions [Update: read the instructions on maintenance]. This unit is beyond self-explanatory. The tank is small enough that it can be filled at the kitchen sink, and it's very easy to carry even while full.Quiet operation. It's pretty much silent except for a faint hissing sound and the occasional gurgle.Features. It has two output settings (clearly marked by a picture of a single drop of water vs. a picture of three drops of water). The auto shut-off feature is nice, and I like the fact that it doesn't require filters. It doesn't produce the white dust that ultrasonic humidifiers spew out.Cons:Output. I turn it on when I go to bed at night. On the high setting, it runs completely dry long before I get up 7 hours later...and I wake up feeling dried out. On the low setting, it only puts out about half the water in the tank...and I wake up feeling dried out. The box says it's intended for medium-sized rooms, but it doesn't define "medium." My bedroom is about 17' x 14'. I probably should have purchased a unit intended for a "large" room.Opening the tank. It forms a vacuum as it empties, and the cap can be very difficult to unscrew as a result. It takes quite a bit of effort to get it started; an elderly or disabled person likely wouldn't be able to unscrew it.MAINTENANCE. It turns out that the unit has to be completely disassembled, soaked in vinegar, and scrubbed routinely. I neglected to do that, and the unit stopped working within less than a month. The auto shut-off would engage even though the unit was full of water, essentially reducing it to a $25 night light. Now that I've cleaned it, it is working again. The maintenance aspect is a pain. I am used to cool mist humidifiers, which simply require replacing the filters once a year. It is possible that the maintenance could be avoided if one used distilled water in the unit - but at about $1/gallon for distilled water, it would be cheaper just to buy a new humidifier every month.Overall, I wish I'd spent a bit more money for a cool-mist humidifier that actually kept my bedroom humidified overnight and didn't require extra care. But if you're using it for a small room and don't mind the frequent cleaning, it might be a good value for the money.

LOUDEST Humidifier I've Ever Bought!
So LOUD! I bought this humidifier specifically because the reviews touted it as quiet. But either I am especially sound sensitive, or mine is a dud, but it is just so noisy! I haven't even tried to sleep with it on, I've only had it on during the day. But on high, it is like having a very wildly boiling tea kettle or a big huge vat of water furiously boiling right next to you (though it's across the room). On low, it is still constantly boiling and bubbling, but not quiet as loudly. I think I could watch TV with it on low, but on high it would actually compete with the TV and I'd have to turn it off. I thought I'd try it out on high all day to see how fast it ran out of water, but I just can't stand the noise enough to leave it on high while I'm in the room. There is NO WAY I could ever sleep with this on, not even on low. I am a light sleeper, but my last warm air humidifier was pretty much silent except for an occasional water bubble going up. I slept with it just fine. The ultrasonic humidifier I bought was louder than that old Honeywell, so I thought I'd go back to a warm mist. But this one is significantly louder than the ultrasonic. And it's even louder than my cold mist humidifier. It is by far louder than EVERY other humidifier I've owned. I can't imagine how people think this is quiet unless mine isn't working right or something.I can't say much for how long it lasts or how well it humidifies because it will be going back in the box by tonight when I go to bed. All I can say is that the water container is quite small, I know it will have to be refilled every morning and every night. One positive I CAN say about this one is that compared to my old warm mist humidifier, this one would be WAY easier to clean. The old one had a twisty lightbulb shaped coil inside that had so many nooks and crannies to scrub the scale off of. This one just has a simple bump inside the heating chamber that would be really easy to fill with vinegar and then wipe off. I wish it were quieter, but I'm going to have to find another option.
