Humminbird 409700-1 541 Fish Finder (Grey)

First time buying a fish/depth finder. I wasn't expecting much from this, only wanted to know the depth and if there might be fish lurking around. First time I used this, the depth alarm went cookoo on me. It said the depth was 1ft while it had been in showing me 160ft deep waters.I decided to restart it since it doesn't recalibrate on its own. And it worked fine for a small period of time. I was not even moving, fishing off the side of my boat, and this thing went off again telling me the depth was only 1ft again while in 150-170 foot waters. Had to restart multiple times so that it could recalibrate and give me an actual depth since it would go from working to depth alarm, over and over.Have gone out several more times with this fish/depth finder and this problem continues to happen every single time. In fact on my last outing it was working just fine and then turned off on its own. I couldn't get the screen back on. (checked to make sure it was plugged in and had power and all) I finally got it turned back on and the screen went blank again.When I received this in the mail, I remember hearing a loose screw of some sort on the inside of the monitor. But I don't think it has anything to do with my problem. FYI - the transducer is fixed properly on the transom and has never moved out of its position.Bottom line, I cannot rely on this device and will need to buy another. Spend your money on something better.

Too bad, i was very disappointed with this unit. I sent it back for repairs, got it back in record time but stopped working again. Wasted my money.

Good FF for the money-HINT: Make sure it's off when starting motor, they don't like low voltage! Such as when motor is turning over.

Works very well and was easy to install and route the sensor on my pontoon boat.

It's as basic as you can get but it does what I want...tells me the dept of the water.

Nice, simple, black and white and inexpensive depth finder. I use it on the bow so it is in the sun. B & W does fine with glare of sun.
