Excellent Book for Mens Group
The book was recommended by a Mens Pastor at my church. I listened to the whole thing on Audible but wanted to go through it thoroughly, so I invited two other men to read and study the book in 17 weeks. We read 4-6 pages daily, shared our thoughts daily with each other on things that impacted us and had weekly calls to read a section together and answer some or all of the discussion questions in the back of the book. I got a lot more out of it that way! Highly recommend it for Men who want to learn God's design for Men and to work through some of the issues we've faced and still face as godly men. For us, this is just the beginning, we are more aware of God's intention for us but we still have to walk it out and would definitely read, study and work through this book again.

Hidden gem
I’ve read most of Crabb’s more famous books but this one is a hidden gem. A must read for men’s groups or perfect to use with a younger brother in a mentor/mentee setting.

My new favorite book on masculinity
Men of Courage: God's Call to Move Beyond the Silence of Adam (2013) by Larry Crabb is the best book I have read on masculinity. Crabb begins the book with a brief discussion of how Adam remained silent, commenting, "the silence of Adam is the beginning of every man's failure." Against that backdrop, he spends the rest of the book encouraging men to "remember and move." In other words, we are to remember what God has said and have the courage to move into darkness, confusion, and chaos. Unfortunately, in our fallen society men hear a cacophony of voices telling them what it means to be a man, with most voices missing the mark. Though we may enjoy adrenaline pumping activities, we have the tendency as men to stay on the surface, to avoid real risk. Relational risk. Crabb writes, "Men are called to move into darkness, to keep moving ahead with purpose and strength even when they cannot clearly see the path before them" (p. 70). Most of us are reluctant to do this.Crabb also argues that "the design of every man is to talk and be talked to" (p. 104). This runs contrary to what many modern notions of manhood imply. However, it seems to me that our failure to talk is rooted in fear of uncertainty and confusion about who we are. To counteract this trend, Crabb encourages us to get into real relationships--with fathers, with brothers, with other men.Father's Day is coming soon. This may be one of the best gifts for men who desire to live a godly life. I would like to get this message out to every man that I know.

A man's silence creates consequences that no one wants. We create by speaking. Generally speaking, silence is destructive.
I love Dr. Crabb. His insights challenge me to change, grow and mature. He is a deep thinker and I occasionally have a tough time following his line of thought. And yet, I need to read Dr. Crabb and others like him so that I will be stretched and grow intellectually and well as spiritually.

Excellent content, technical issue
I purchased the soft cover and audio versions of this book and have been very pleased the the challenging and enlightening content. Has anyone else had technical issues with the audio version? I had issues with incomplete chapters. The disc advances to the next chapter before the previous chapter is complete. Five stars (plus!) without that issue.

Great Explanation Why So Many Men Are Silent!
I have long wondered why many many wives are so torn in their relationships. Men are not stepping up to the plate when decisions have to be made. Speaking for myself, I am exhausted. Mostly, I hear "whatever you decide...". I doesn't matter what the problem is. And when the solution isn't the expected outcome, well... "why didn't you call so and so... why did you choose that repair company..." etc, etc. We've wasted so much time trying to get our husbands to participate. After reading Men of Courage, I can definitely comprehend how it all began. Thanks so much for this wonderful insight. Now I handed him the book and said, "READ IT!".

A Great Book that every man should read
In this book the authors challenge men to think deeply about what it means to really embrace God’s vision with men. With both vulnerability and encouragement the authors present a vision for men that is both captivating and challenging. A must read book for every guy!
