Handy pump of decent quality for the price - longevity unknown
This review is ONLY for the “TERA PUMP Electric Multipurpose Gas Transfer Pump with Quick Stop Nozzle for Gas, Diesel, DEF & More”, or more specifically, the TeraPump model TREP01-T (and NOT the similar model TREP01). I bought this fuel transfer pump to aid in moving gasoline between portable gas cans and various gas engine yard equipment and vehicles. I had been using a hand-cranked fuel transfer pump, but it was large, bulky and unwieldy, and I thought it would be nice to have a small, handier, more convenient pump such as this one. Here are the critical specifications and characteristics about this product that I think other prospective buyers might wish to know: The product consists of a battery holder (taking 2x “D” cells), a combination motor and centrifugal impeller pump, and a telescoping plastic pipe that connects between the two. At the top of the pipe, where it reaches the battery holder, is a discharge hose with a handle/nozzle assembly at its other end. The total length of the main assembly, from top of the battery holder to the tip of the pump impeller, is 24”. The pipe (which can go inside various fuel tanks and gas cans) is 15.5” long with the telescoping pipe fully retracted, and 21” long with the pipe fully extended. The pump/motor assembly is sized to be able to fit through the openings of most gas cans and yard machinery fuel tanks, with a minimum tank opening of 1-1/4” diameter. The discharge hose is 38” long, and on its end is the handle’s 7.5” length plus the nozzle’s approximately 5” length. Some listings for this product suggest that the hose telescopes or otherwise stretches to different lengths, but this is incorrect. True, since the hose is corrugated there is a small amount of spring to it, but it does not usefully remain at the stretched length. A small fuel-proof electrical cable runs inside the pipe from battery holder to pump motor. In operation, you stick the pipe with the motor/impeller ‘head’ into the tank/can where the fuel will come from (the source); the end of the impeller housing can either rest on the bottom of the tank or hang above the bottom. The nozzle is placed into the opening of the destination fuel tank/gas can. The handle can be squeezed, much like the handle of a filling station gas pump, to allow fuel flow, to control the amount of flow, and to stop fuel flow. Specifically, the handle lever is what starts and stops flow, while a rotating knurled collar is what controls the amount of flow. However, unlike the handle/nozzles of filling station fuel pumps, this product is not equipped with an automatic cutoff when the receiving fuel container gets full; you are intended to remain present during pumping, although with the knurled collar rotated past a certain point, it will hold the handle lever pressed in at the desired flow rate. The maximum fuel flow rate is 2.4GPM. While the handle controls fuel flow from the nozzle, the actual pump is started and stopped using a large slide switch located on the top of the battery holder. In other words, the pump can be running even though the handle is not being squeezed to allow fuel to flow. Because the pump's centrifugal impeller design allows it to be pumping against a ‘dead head’ for a while without damage, you can turn the pump switch on, then put the nozzle into the receiving fuel vessel, then squeezing the handle to start fuel flow (and the reverse of this sequence when done pumping). It is recommended to have the source and destination fuel containers arranged such that the destination is a higher level than the source. When pumping is complete, turn off the pump switch, raise the handle/nozzle above the level of the source fuel container, then turn off the pump switch and squeeze the handle’s lever to allow fuel in the hose to run down and back to the source container. The side of the battery holder has a tight-fitting set of plastic hooks which are intended to hold the end of the nozzle up by the top of the overall assembly, so that the hose makes a loop when not in use. The top end of the battery holder has a large hook to allow it to hang from some object for storage; this position allows any residual fuel in the hose, pipe or pump to drain out (should not be more than a few drops if the hose was drained properly after use). It is NOT recommended to store this product with the pipe or motor/pump submerged in fuel for long periods, or with the hose filled with fuel. TeraPump makes another product, TRFA-01, which is designed to be stored attached to gas cans, with the pump always submerged. This product is intended to be used for the following types of liquids: - Gasoline - Diesel - DEF (AdBlue) - Water (not for drinking water) - Kerosene - Windshield washer fluid - Mild detergents - Agricultural chemicals - Light oils - It is NOT intended to be used for the following liquids: - Acetone - Benzene - Cresol - Ethyl - Phenol - Methyl ethyl - Concentrated caustic soda liquid - Nitric acid - Hydrochloric acid - Sulfuric acid - Thinners & solvents No specific mention is made in the specification for Isopropyl Alcohol. TeraPump does not seem to indicate where this product is manufactured; the aforementioned TRFA-01 pump is marked as being made in Korea, so presumably THIS pump is also made there. Product support is provided in the USA by TeraPump in California. This product seems to be of decent quality, but this reviewer does not have enough experience with it to have any idea of how long it might last or what its reliability will be. It transfers gas from can container to our vehicles and maintenance equipment
We have an ATV and UTV, lawnmowers, trimers, and other equipment that require gas. This unit really works well in all of these. They are especially useful for the off road vehicles. I like the controls provided on this pump. It delivers gas efficiently and fast. Great product and well worth the expense.

Easy to use and very functional!
I'm 65 and don't often write reviews but I was impressed with this battery powered gas pump. I was tired of lifting gas cans, over filling and spilling gas sometimes. I dumped pretty much all of my funnels. This pump is great to transfer my gas from 5 gal cans into the lawnmowers, motorcycle or cars. The flow rate is decent, gas handle valve has good control and it's portable. I've only had it a week and seems to be well built. Hopefully the DC motor gas pump seals and motor brushes will last me 5 years. If you take care of it and don't trash it I think it will go the miles.

Works very well as a spare in case my screw on one that stays in jug fails. I don't like pulling it out after each use and having to dry it off. Now here is a tip in case it does not want to work, spin the prop on the end with any thing that will move it and sprathe prop with WD-40 , seems to help on startup when not used in a regular fashion like winter months.

It has a long discharge hose

Not bad at all . works good , not super fast but good flow, shuts off as soon as you let the pump handle go.

This battery powered tool for pumping gas has made it easy to transfer gasoline with no mess. Should have bought this a long time ago. Price might be a bit higher than you would like, but worth every penny. Easy to store away.
