Tallchief: America's Prima Ballerina

A beautiful biography for young readers.
Rosemary Wells does a wonderful job here presenting the call to ballet that led Maria Tallchief to be one of the great artists of the discipline. Maria's schooling and family life, the progress she makes learning ballet and her love of the dance are all beautifully portrayed in the story and illustrations.

This was a sweet story. I liked that it had diversity with the characters. Its a fairly short book, so when we were finished reading it, we passed it on to another girl.

This was very helpful for the project my daughter had. This was actually her only source needed for her research.

Tallchief American Prima Ballarina
A very short account of Maria Tallchief (26 pages). It was interesting but not much detail. The price did not justify the content. It is more appropriate for a youn girl who is intetested in ballet.

This book was a disappointment
I bought this for my granddaughter who has been a ballet student for 8 years now. I thought it would give the story of someone who overcame difficulties to achieve her dream but the book did not really tough on them. It did not give her story in full.
