SteelSeries 6Gv2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red Cherry Switches Edition

I just received the keyboard earlier today and currently using it. Immediately i noticed a difference in my typing, the keys are extremely comfortable. The keyboard itself is smaller then my old Thermaltake Knucker keyboard. The keys just feel amazing under every press... no longer do i miss presses, and find myself overpressing at times... due to the old rubber dome design i was so used to. After i got used to pressing the keys a little less... it improved further, the keyboard was heavy and i really like that, wish it did come with the key removal tool, but alas that is not a problem, the function key is great. People who complained about that have no idea what they're talking about. How often do people actually use the windows key anyway? I was already used to the larger enter key and smaller right shift key as well. That was also not an issue with me.Pros:-Sturdy Heavy Keyboard-Extremely comfortable and simple design-Love the clicky noise of bottoming out every pressCons:-No key removal tool?Take for example for people debating on switching over to mechanical, i am a starcraft 2, wow and league of legends player. My SC2 i went from 80 APM to 140 APM, without changing anything, also at 80 APM i was trying my heart out to get that. (Yes i have a winning record =P) Much less effort to get that 140 APM w/ the new keyboard. All gamers i recommend you switch... NOW.

Truth be told I bought this keyboard to be cool, not to actually type faster or anything. After all, pro gamers like Idra use it so I wanted to be cool like them. Surprisingly when this actually came in the mail and I plugged it into my desktop; I could tell instantly that I was typing faster and that my keystrokes were more responsive in comparison to my old rubber dome Dell old-school keyboard. Would recommend this for typing and gaming. Please do remember to use the PS/2 connector so you can eliminate key ghosting completely. With the connector you can press ALL the keys at once and they will all show up at the same time. This is a really cool thing but, more importantly, I want to stress that you really can tell the difference in speed of registration of keystrokes with this keyboard and I felt that it was WELL worth the money. Also it has a heavy feel to it. Sure all they did was put a metal plate in the thing but it actually helps your keyboard stay in place and not move around, which is something I felt was REALLY annoying with my old Dell keyboard. I was constantly having to re-adjust. With the 6GV2 keybaord I don't have to do that anymore and typing is actually fun and might even provide students with the motivation to write-up those papers. You can buy this keyboard and be happy with it. Also worth noting is the fact that it is quieter than most mechanical keyboards because of how the red switch is designed. Personally, I think it is the best all-around switch because it is great for both typing and playing games, which is something I do a lot of being both a student and computer game player.

I bought this keyboard as a Mechanical Keyboard I can take to work to replace works horrible Dell Membrane boards.I did get the Red Switch version.I'm actually Typing from it right now!This keyboard is a nice keyboard. Solid in construction. The Red switches are amazing to type on. Super smooth and they take no pressure at all for the key to register. You could touch type if you practiced enough.It works nice at my work since I'm at a bank. The only sound you hear is the bottoming out of the keys. Co-workers have'nt complained yet! They actually love typing on it and want one like it.Now in terms of this board being a gaming keyboard I have only used it for League of Legends and Deadlight (platformer on Steam).It is nice for League. I actually like the light touch for it. I never really slip up like I thought I would.It is a good keyboard but there are a few flaws.It seems very compact. My main Keyboard at home is a Das Keyboard and The 6Gv2 seems compact compared to it for some reason. It's just small.In the other reviews people have said the key letters and numbers wear off. I have had this keyboard for around 2 months now and There is some of the bright white color dulling but so far all the images are still there.The main thing that bugs me is the small Shift key on the right side. but after I have been typing on it for a bit it hasn't been bad at all.I think my Das Keyboard is a better keyboard for me. The blue switches with the tactile feel are amazing. Maybe I should have gotten the Black swithces?Now for a small summary!Pros:--Smooth keys (red)--Solid construction--Quieter than Blues for sure--Great for typing--Media Keys are niceCons:--Shift key is small--Key image does wear--Seems compact--No tilt adjust or feetAll in all a great Keyboard. Definitely worth the Price on Amazon.There are a few minor things I dislike, but The good overshadows it for sure. I say if you want a Red switch Keyboard that is of good quality, then this is definitely a wallet friendly one.

Works great, very responsive and smooth, but can get a little bit loud, obviously. I would suggest key dampeners

Recomiendo este teclado tanto para profesionales de las tecnologías de información, especialmente programadores y administradores de sistemas, que ocasionalmente disfruten de juegos en PC como shooters o RTS. Puede parecer caro pero si has dado un vistazo al mercado de los teclados mecánicos, podrás apreciar que este es uno de los más baratos de la categoría. El teclado es silencioso para ser mecánico (sigue haciendo mas ruido que un teclado normal) y no llama la atención porque luce prácticamente igual a un teclado negro generico de oficina, aunque cualquier persona que lo use o levante se puede dar cuenta inmediatamente que no es nada generico.Contras:Hubiera sido bueno que el 6Gv2 incluyese un slot para candado u otra medida de seguridad para que pudiéramos proteger más fácilmente nuestra inversión.Porqué lo compre.Uso en casa un teclado Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2012 con switches Cherry MX Blue que compré principalmente para juegos pero que se disfruta, en mi opinión, aún más cuando escribes. Es dificil describirlo pero si usas un teclado mecánico por varios minutos simplemente ¨lo entiendes¨, te acostumbras a sus bondades y es después una tortura tener que usar por horas un teclado "normal", como el teclado genérico Dell de mi oficina. Desafortunadamente un teclado como el Blackwidow Ultimate es demasiado caro y "escandaloso" (tanto en el estilo como como en lo ruidoso de los switches) para una oficina. El teclado SteelSEries 6Gv2 me pareció lo suficientemente ¨barato¨ y sobrio (no tiene luces led ni fonts o logos vistosos) para decidirme finalmente a invertir en el teclado que uso la mayor parte del tiempo, no me arrepiento de mi desición.Con relación a los switches:El feedback de los switches Cherry MX Red del 6GV2 no es tan fabuloso como los Cherry MX Blue, pero siguen siendo muy superior al de cualquier teclado no-mecánico, además son relativamente silenciosos como ya comenté. Los switches ideales para oficina son para mi gusto los Cherry MX Brown, por ser táctiles y silenciosos, lamentablemente no encontré productos "sobrios" con dichos switches, los modelos Ultimate Stealth de Razer solian usar los Cherry MX Brown pero desde 2014, Razer utiliza switches propietarios en vez de los Cherry. Supuestamente los ¨Razer Orange¨ para los modelos Stealth son táctiles y silenciosos como los Cherry MX Brown, pero no podría recomendarlos sin antes comparar el performance y feedback.

I've had this keyboard for over 5 years. It's simply amazing. Still looks new.It's sensitive, makes satisfying sounds, it's sturdy, it's egonomic, it's easy to clean, looks classy (non of that 15 y/o multicolored LED BS).I have used to game (LoL, WoW, Overwatch, FO4), and I've written my doctoral thesis with this thing.The last keyboard you'll ever need, just get it.

Este teclado mecánico SteelSeries 6Gv2 con interruptores Cherry MX Red (rojo) funciona bastante bien como un teclado de oficina. No tiene más de tres LEDs, ni iluminación debajo de las teclas, ni texturas o calcomanías especiales. Es decir, no tiene tecla adicional para la Ñ, ni para la cedilla Ç. Esto, sin embargo, no es ningún problema para escribir en español. Todos los sistemas operativos, Windows, Linux, Mac, permiten cambiar la configuración a teclado Español, Latinoamericano, o Estados Unidos (Internacional), y esto permite escribir la Ñ o los acentos sin problemas. Muchas personas compran teclados mecánicos para jugar juegos de computadora a un alto nivel. Yo no juego, así que no puedo decir si este teclado es bueno o malo para esto. El teclado es bueno para escribir.Si tuviera la tecla Windows izquierda, este producto sería perfecto con 5 estrellas. Sin la tecla Windows, es un 3, suficiente.

Es feo, minimalista y funcional. Pero hace su trabajo de una forma sobresaliente, si no te gustan las lucesitas, botones de macros y demás gimmicks en los teclados gamer te recomiendo éste. Los switches rojos so de lo mejor para gaming.El único punto en contra que le veo es que los keycaps son de ABS y se sienten chafas comparado a lo demás, así que recomiendo sustituirlos con un set de keycaps de plástico ABS que se puede conseguir a precio decente en AliExpress.
