Excellent turntable
I bought this turntable because I wanted and needed a second turntable.. Before I go on I will point out that I'm not a dj. I also own a Technics SL-1200 mk 2. First let me say that the 1200 wheel of steel is in a class of it's own, so with that said this is how this compares... Build quality is excellent especially for being made in this time age. It has an 8 pole direct drive motor which is the kind of quality you that you only find on tables like the 1200. speed accuracy is dead on.. This table is perfect if your using it witj an amp with a good phono input, in that regard it is just as warm and analog sounding as any vintage or modern table. If this table had nothing more then that it would still be worth what I paid for it..Now for the xtra's it also has it's own built in phono input for those that don't have a phono input and it is very good. but it gets even better, it has it's own ad/dac system built in. Stanton states that the coaxial output would be useful for cd recorders and such.. Well after all that I ran the coaxial to the digital input of my Yamaha receiver. This is very important because my receiver has no phono input, but that digital feed allowed an easy 1 cord connection, and the sound quality has all the sound of analog, without the cost of a higher end outboard phono section.. and I will repeat to be clear that this table also has a phono section..There is not a receiver or amp on earth new or ancient that this table wouldn't be compatable with. I moved it off the Yamaha to an Onkyo integra integrated amp with a phono section and with my cartridge sounded like the 1200..And last but not least, the cartridge and needle included is very good, I prefer to use my higher end ortophon, and grado, but the one that comes with it is far superior to most of competitions cartridges. I do recommend the best cartridge you can afford to put on this table, but straight out of the box you will love this table... and finally you can connect directly to your computer as well to make cd's out of your records. all cords and software is included. You would be hard pressed to find a better turntable for the money. in every respect, and especially what your ears hear..under 300 bucks a gift

Perfection for home use
First let me state, I am not using this for scratching or DJ work, I can't review its capabilities for those purposes. I did, however, sell audiophile equipment at one time, so I'm familiar with high-end turntables and their performance. For listening to vinyl, I'm finding this turntable to be flawless. I suspect some negative reviews might be due to the occasional bad unit or not understanding proper setups. The sound:As for my unit, the setup was easy, and the sound is amazing. I have it paired with a Stanton M203 DJ Mixer, and use the turntable preamp in that unit instead of the turntable's internal one. This seems to be the match the vendor used for engineering and testing, because the sound is incredible. With no EQ at all, the bass is vibrant and the overall sound is balanced and crystal clear. The tracking:The tracking is really impressive. Stanton recommends 2-5 grams. Set at 3 g weight and anti skate, the stylus rides the grooves perfectly at every section of the record. I have friends with the low end turntables having problems with skipping and noise isolation, this has no problems with either. You can crank up the volume and stomp around the room with no issues. Even though it's direct drive, there are no motor sounds bleeding into the mix, so it's as quiet as a belt drive. The cartridge:I'm sticking with the included Stanton 500.v3. The sound and tracking are as good as I've experienced, and I don't want to mess with the manufacturer design, they seem to have paired things nicely. The software:I recorded a song from an old record with Audacity, then cleaned it up and removed the pops with iZotope on my first try (using a Mac). The cleanup was as good or better as any other software I've used for this purpose.Technical issues:I found a few issues that I got past easily, but might cause concern or returns from other buyers. The reported cutting out of one channel was present in my unit after the initial setup. A firm removal and reseating of the headshell eliminated that problem. It was just normal glaze on the contacts during storage. Also, when I attempted to hook up the USB output to my computer, which has an audio output to the same sound system, I encountered a wicked hum due to a ground loop I created. Simple fix, just don't do that. Conclusion:Hook the unit up properly, reseat the headshell a few times, and you will have an experience that normally requires spending two or three times as much.Again, I'm not a scratching DJ, but for the normal listener, this is easily as good as the old Technics turntables we all fought over. The unit could loose a star for documentation, and the vendor could really save some returns and heartache if they assumed the buyer was not technical. A simple troubleshooting section at the end about low output (probably preamp settings), channel cut out (reseat the shell), and ground hum (don't plug in USB and audio at the same time) could save some returns and negative reviews. However, this is a five star turntable, especially at this price point, and that's what I have to give it.

stanton is putting out some real junk
Edit to my review. Me and my brother used to build turntables as a hobby,so I broke out my tools so to speak before I return this to make sure im not a complete idiot. The problem is Wange Chung fell asleep at the factory. The pins inside the cartridge receptor are slanted to the left. This causes stylus misalignment which causes all kind of havoc including, cooking your records, sound cut out, and uneven channel separation. I could fix this but I wont not at these prices. Who knows what else Wang missed. So if you place your tone arm on a record and eyeball it at a even level and it looks slanted it is. Place it on a mirror and you will see it very clearly.

Nivel de salida muy bajo
Todo muy bien excepto el nivel de salida que es demasiado bajo y requieres de mucha amplificación para que se escuche decente

Pretty good... make it better!
What do you mean it's used! this thing looks like new... except for the box. That was the only clue telling me that this turntable had been unpacked at some point before. Not an equivalent to the SL1200, not even close but pretty fun to modify. Got rid of USB/preamp board, installed new tonearm with din wiring, installed cue lever, packed the hollow table body with Roxul soundproofing wool. Performs like a champ!
