Works great,,,,,,,now.
Ok, got this charger because of the reviews, weight, durability and backpack uses in general. So i got it home and charged it up, no problem. I hooked it up to my Samsung galaxy exhibit II, big problem. It would not charge the phone. I called, Samsung(useless), T-Mobile(they really tried), Bushnell(very helpful) but no one had an answer. I could charge everything else on earth with no problem. So, with a lot of research I found that this phone is very picky about a charging cable from a dumb charging device. I ended up modifying a USB cable to emulate a wall charging cable and now everything works great. Love this thing. It charges my phone, my kindle, my gps, my golf gps and the solar panel works just fine too. So now I have a special cable for my phone and the supplied cable for everything else. Should have taken a star off for the cable issue but after all is said and done, it's a great little device.

A pretty good and compact solar charger
A pretty good solar charger. I've charged my android based phone and pebble smartwatch off of this numerous times so far.I particular like how it rolls up into a "thick marker" sized cylindar. It makes for a very small foot print in my backpack. It charges nicely in sunny areas but also seems to charge well even in shady areas. I've gotten a good green charging light even at times where it was a cloudy and I would have thought that charging would have been spotty before having tried. The battery pack appears to hold a charge well. I've lain this in the sun for awhile then eventually charged my cellphone a couple days later and it fully charged. My only negative comment would be the lack of charge level indicator/s. While I see a green/red light for charging or not, I have no idea how charged it is. There is no way to tell if it is sitting at 50% or 95%.

Functional Versatility at a Good Price
This is a good product, and I have been really happy with the performance of this unit. It charges my Ipad fully overnight, so I'm happy with that. You can charge it either with the solar panel or via the USB cord, which adds convenience. It charges if left out in the sun for a few hours-- about four hours when I timed, faster even than advertised.I've used this on many camping trips and been happy so far. It is lightweight and good for recharging a phone, ipad, or device battery. Also, the price is among the best in this segment. The product quality is high and it is built sturdy. It does what it says it will and is good to keep your digital devices charged during your wilderness outings. All-in-all, I'd recommend to my fellow campers and hikers.

don't waste your money on it
Absolutely a joke. Junk, don't waste your money on it. It does not work. Bought it last year, buy never tried it. Took it on a backpacking trip this week. I left wife's iphone on this "charger" in bright California sunshine for 12 hours. I started with 8% on her battery. Within 5 hours the battery ran dry, even though it was on the charger, just sitting there. Since it was now off, I left it on the charger for 7 more hours. ZERO charger.

the smart phone seems to charge much slower
Several months I've used this and it works well. I use it mainly to charge my nicotine vaporizer, mp3 player and sometimes smartphone when it's own battery has been fully charged through USB. It charges those devices fast and the amount it charges varies from different devices off of it own battery charge. While the battery of the solarwrap is dead and using the solar panel; the mp3 will play from a dead battery and the vape will vape, the smart phone seems to charge much slower. Very compact, looks good. I would suggest trying to buy it from around $50 or less if you can, otherwise I think it would be too expensive.

Worked great, at first.
Okay well I bought this thing on May 5, 2014. Today is March 8, 2015. It has stopped working. I was happy with it at first because it was light and made for a good back up to my cellphone on my hiking trips. But at some point the roll out solar panel stopped charging the device. Works as a powerbank(charges from USB) but you can get that for way cheaper. If Bushnell is reading this I would love a replacement.

Decent power storage device, but stinks as a solar charger.
This item works pretty well as a light-weight power storage device if you pre-charge it before you leave the house. On a full charge I was able to charge an iPhone 5 from 50% battery plus an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite from about 75% with a bit left over for other devices. The solar charging, on the other hand, is lackluster at best. To even start to charge it needs full, direct exposure to the sun. Forget about hooking it to your backpack while hiking and getting much of a charge...it's not gonna happen. Even leaving it in direct sun for 4-5 hours only charged it enough to bump my iPhone 5 by 12-13%.Overall, this item is cheap and works ok for power storage, but I wouldn't rely on the solar charging.

Works as described.
After 4 hours of charging in the sunlight, there wasn't enough power to recharge the battery in my Samsung S5. So plugged the Bushnell into USB port and when it was fully charged (green light showing), was able to bring my Samsung from 35% battery to 100% in about the same time as it would take if I charged the phone from house outlet. At this time, the Bushnell had no charge as I checked it against a small USB light and it wouldn't come on. So I left the Bushnell in direct sunlight for 5 hours one day, and 5 hours the next and the indicator light went from red to green (fully charged). Was then able to recharge my Samsung from 20% battery to 80%, but no more. So overall, the Bushnell will provide enough power to keep your phone working for essential uses while off the grid, but not enough to allow you to aimlessly surf the web.
