Five Stars
Not terrible, a little ham-fisted at times, probably due to trying to be as accessible as possible.

One of the better Pchem books I've run into
One of the better Pchem books I've run into. Their detail is great for when you are struggling to remember something, and the problems are wonderful to go over before tests.

Mistakes galore
Many typos and multiple questions with incorrect answers made this textbook confusing and frustrating (as if p-chem isn't fun enough already). I can not recommend this textbook.

Too much highlighting and pen marks
The spine is a little worn, which I don’t mind. What really grinds my gears is the incoherent notes inside the textbook. This distracts me while reading and makes some text difficult to make out. Whoever had this book last did not know anything about how to highlight. To the seller’s credit, I haven’t found any torn pages or missing pages, and all the information is there. For the price I paid, however, (about $55) it was not worth it. For how used the textbook is, it should be worth $30.

Boring and filled with errors
Its a decent book. It's not an easy read but I guess it really isn't supposed to be. My biggest problem is that there are a number of errors in the supplementary equations and problems at the end of each chapter. However, if you have access to the solutions manual they usually correct and account for these errors. Moreover, from what I have seen, the chapter bodies are generally error free. I would speculate that the supplementary problems/equations were not edited or proofread as rigorously as the chapter content.Disclaimer: I have only studied chapters 2,3,4 and 6 thus far.

elementary and partial differential equations to be realistic – he or she is best off simply understanding General Chemistry
Very poorly written textbook. It's neither rigorous nor even interesting. The simple fact is that Physical Chemistry isn't as necessary for a study of biochemistry as many think it is. Unless a student is going to actually learn and understand the mathematics required to even come close to understanding physical chemistry – multivariable calculus and linear algebra at a minimum, elementary and partial differential equations to be realistic – he or she is best off simply understanding General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Introductory Physics at an A level. There was nothing I obtained from my study of Physical Chemistry (and I got an A in Physical Chemistry I and a B in Physical Chemistry II, so I didn't bomb the course) that I did not or could not have learned from my General Chemistry or Introductory Physics courses. This textbook introduces terms without rigorously defining them, handwaves proof after proof, and, simply put, is impossible to follow in the quantum mechanics section. Is it really fair to blame the authors? If the authors believe a course based on this textbook would be worthwhile for a student of biochemistry, then yes – absolutely.

I do not know why that the cover has a label that is said that this book was a rental. It is said that " Please be gentle I am a rental". But actually, I bought it.
