Jung on Synchronicity and the Paranormal

An excellent staple to have in your library
It was nice to get a confirmation that these are “normal’ phenomena experiences and I haven’t completely lost all my marbles. It would’ve been refreshing to have a chapter dedicated to A.I., neuroscience technology and ”magic” influences, disruptions and utter chaos that plays a role in synchronization. Therefore for me, it much like a tarot reading, take what resonates with you and leave the rest. An excellent staple to have in your library if you are seeking to expand the mind some.

Both important and scary
An amazing compilation of Jung's work, including many letters to other scientists. I agree with another reviewer that people should think twice before reading this at night. Jung's description of a haunting he experienced at a house with a creepy reputation made me feel amazed that he was still sane afterward, let alone calm enough to consider the psychology of the experience. Anyway this includes his descriptions of--among other things--mediums, a haunting, visions, a hallucination that he experienced with another person, dreams and telekinesis, along with his ideas of what they reveal about the structure and abilities of the psyche. An incredibly important work and yes, scary too.

It’s not coincidence
Nothing in life is by chance but evolves in patterns in time and space, repeats and circulated in ways that bypass, intersect and present the obvious and subtle.

Wasn't aware...
I don't recommend reading this at night. Although I suggest this to anyone interested in Jung's work, psychoanalytic theory, gossip of those in the field at the time (Freud, James, ect.), and even those interested in the law of attraction teachings; I would recommend this to those who enjoy horror novels as well. If you get freaked out by "bumps in the night", or perhaps like that sort of thing, you'll be entertained by this collection.

A vital companion book for Jung's work on parapsychology
I read this book prior to reading Jung's "Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle". Since most of Jung's original work has been translated & can be a bit obscure at times, this companion book offers many important insights into Jung's work. It is well written & clear, but you have to take the time to "listen" to what you are reading as opposed to just attempting to gloss over it. This companion book is extremely helpful. I highly recommend it for those attempting self-exploration or studying for degree classes in psychology.

Great Book!
I am enjoying this book quite a bit, the only drawback is I though it was all Carl Jung's work, but it's actually a compilation of his letters and writings with far too much commentary by the author. The introduction alone was a zillion pages long, I want a pure Jung book, so this isn't quite what I wanted but nonetheless it does have his work in it so that part meets my expectations.

Jung's unique perspective
Jung is someone I very much admire for his ingenuity in exploring the areas of the psyche that more traditional conventions ignore. Because he was very connected to the paranormal and synchronistic events from his childhood, his work speaks from an experiential realm which he integrates well with psychoanalytic theory. I highly recommend this book as a resource for any good library of inner work.

Shocked at all the praise!
This is a 169 page book, 43 pages were the introduction. Everything long and boringly drawn out. Incredible scientific, which is good, but I felt it lacked insight into synchronicities. In fact the concept of synchronicity was only one stand alone chapter of this book. “With Synchronicity “ being the title in the book, I would have assumed there would be more than 9 pages on the topic!!! There must at least be 50 pp of correspondence between other members of academia. I’ve been yawning for days!

A must read if you want to know what you are talking about
* It will help you understand better the actual concept of synchronicity* It will help you understand much of the controversy towards C.G. JungPositive:(+) I thought there was a rational and sound separation between the opinion of the authors and what Jung said, which enables you to build your own opinion about the diverse topics(+) It points out important weaknesses and criticism of Jung's scientific work, but it I think it still gives a comprehensive account of what Jung might have actually wanted to argueNegative:(-) The book does have a little bit of bias to the main stream, but if you read with discernment it can be very beneficial.Important:*** I think more people should read this book, because C.G. Jung is so often cited as someone who said this or believed that and most of the times it is not really what he said or meant. Also a lot of new age/spiritual people so often take the word "synchronicity" in their mouths (eg. David Wilcock) without really understanding what this concept is. As a matter of fact, C.G. Jung had difficulties defining it himself, and that is something important that you will learn in this book.
