It is carbon steel and holds a much better edge than any regular peeler with a stainless blade. The only issue is that it will rust if left wet. Wash it by hand and dry it and you should have a peeler that lasts many, many years. **Q: How wide is the blade?** A: The blade is about 1.5 inches wide **Q: Is this made in Switzerland?** A: Yes this peeler is made in Switzerland. It looks fairly cheap but it was one of the best apple peelers I have ever used. I did use it for carrots and other fruit but not as much as for apples. Unfortunately I misplaced it and any other ones I purchased was never as good and was quickly forgotten in the bottom of a kitchen drawer. It never occurred to me until I was getting back into eating healthy (fruits/apples) that I thought about this peeler and searched to see if I could get another one. Lo and behold there it was on Amazon so I ordered 2 of them so I would have one as a spare.I would show coworkers and quite a few also remember them and how good they are.I am sure there are ones out there that work just as well but the price of this one and how well it works can't be beat in my books. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Not the same as original Zena peelers *by N***H on Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2021* I bought an original Zena peeler in 2016, which lasted until just recently. This blade is extremely dull, even brand new out of the package - it couldn't even come close to peeling a sweet potato.
