The fabric is a soft fleece (very comfortable). MANY pockets to help with carry-on space. It's true the amount of storage they claim in each pocket.I should state 1 issue - this is not a lightweight vest. While the fabric is light, it is VERY warm. I almost bought a cheaper brand, but a friend recommended this one. I'm glad I got it. It's extremely high quality and has enough pockets to avoid using a purse. Or, wearing it on the plane, it's practically like getting a free small bag carry-on! I especially like the idea of wearing it when I'm sitting at the bulkhead since I could place whatever I need in the pockets and not have to worry about my purse in the overhead.My only word of "caution" is that this thing is WARM. I love that because I am always freezing on my flights and I bring a jacket no matter where I'm going. This will definitely help with my comfort level. However, if I were wanting a vest to wear on a summer outing, I would probably opt for a different version. I bought my son a lighter version of the vest and he loves it too, and can probably wear it year-round.I thought it was a bit pricey, but now that I've seen it, I feel like it's a good value for the money and no doubt in my mind that it'll be around for years to come.

The first one at M was a snug fit. With all the pockets, it would look frumpy.So I exchanged it for a L. Love it. Love all the pockets.I do not like to carry a purse that quickly becomes a piece of weighty luggage.This will work great for me. The quality of workmanship is impressive.A great buy. I highly recommend it.

I love this vest! I'm done with purses, handbags, and women's pocketless clothing for those little things like cellphones, ID's, cash and car keys that I use on a daily basis. This vest carries them all plus more. I also bought it for an upcoming trip to Europe to keep my passport and valuables safe from pickpocketers. I had to agree with a reviewer who said that the velcro at the neck was annoying, it's there for routing earbud cables that are almost extinct now with bluetooth wireless buds. So I took out my handy-dandy seam ripper tool and removed all the velcro plus the little extra flap very carefully. Now I have a smooth neckline that folds over easily. Yup, order a size up, you want a lot of ease for layering and pocket stuffing. I love this vest so much I bought the fleece hoodie and a summer lightweight vest to boot. Bye bye purses and pickpocketers!
