Good Model
Good model, especially if you take your time and do a proper paint job on the whole thing. Not the most accurate kit, but after-market kits are available. Awesome size.

I built the original issue of this kit in 1970.
Some of the assembly is a little fiddly (rolling and gluing the thin sheet styrene tank bodies takes care) but it builds up into a good basic representation of the original. Much more information on color schemes and configurations is readily available now, as well as additional aftermarket detail packages that can really enhance the appearance. I can't address "value for money", that would be up to the purchaser (I think I paid $15 for my kit back in the day). If you take your time and have the necessary skills, I think you will be satisfied with the finished product. Mine still stands in my home over 50 years since I built it, and I wouldn't part with it for anything. I would restate that this is NOT a toy.

the instruction
great model and service was fast. Only thing is the instructions are very very fine print.

Fairly accurate model
Not for inexperienced modelers. I was surprised to find that most of the stage sections were to be constructed from rolled, clamped & glued flat plastic sheets,... although nicely detailed plastic sheets they are. They are then glued to the injection molded top and bottom sections of the respective stages. Firm enough for a display model though Definitely NOT a TOY. I didn't go with the suggested detail paint scheme. Used actual images from NASA's Apollo websites for reference. Nice looking model once completed.

Not a bad model
Overall not all that bad, most of the parts had minor issues that were easy to correct, nothing new for models in general. Not all that accurate because it was created before the final flight ready Saturn V's were built. Overall with patience and time it can be built exactly as you might want. However the command module and especially the lunar module are lacking in quality very poor fit for the parts. Just be aware it does require some work to put it together and make it look right.

Missing parts
Ended up having two missing parts. Had to make new holes for the plastic cards that form the tanks of the rocket. Since the holes didint line up with the parts that attach to them. Really there has been several spots were drilling was required since the holes on interconnected parts still had there connection points filled in with plastic from the factory This is my first model to build and has been pretty fun.. But if this is the quality I can expect out of $150 model I'm just going to pick a diffrenet hobbie

Still a great kit after all these years
A brilliant model of an iconic piece of engineering. Building the model out of the box will not however give you a model of Apollo 11. It is based on the SA500f Facilities Test Unit that was built in 1965/1966 to test all of the ground systems and did not have anything inside it. It was just an empty shell. (Testament to this is the horizontal black band above the “USA” markings on the first stage that didn’t appear on flight vehicles). Having said that you’ve got to be a real rocket geek to know that, and will still build into something impressive to display. The person who who said that parts of the model are made of cardboard was very much mistaken. The main fuselage are made by rolling pre printed plastic sheet into tubes. No cardboard involved. Instructions are also given in the instructions to make the box it comes in into a rather handy carry case, which is great for transporting to shows. Fun fact- NASA actually used this model at the Marshall Test Centre in the late 1960s as a reference piece, even though it was inaccurate, with the original one being sold at Bonhams in 2006 for £21000!

Un must

Don't hesitate. This kit, with patience looks fantastic!
Tremendous kit. One of many I have recently built. Be prepared for the larger sections to be of plastic sheeting, but nevertheless looks great. Thoroughly enjoyed making this - took 5 days at about 1.5 hours per day. Pay attention to the detail as you go along, pre paint the fiddly parts and you will be rewarded with a very impressive model. The later Revell kits are superb.
