We use the 5 and half inch diameter for leg work to help back and hips. When I got on Amazon, I chose this one because it is very firm and sturdy. I use it daily. In the little time that I have had it, I have found considerable pain relief doing the exercises that my PT has prescribed. It is very firm, so I use a towel over it to give me more comfort.
