Wow what a difference this makes.
Our house does not have an air exchanger so suffers from stale air and pet orders. Been wanting one of these for years but the price was always high. I see now they are about 1/3 the price they used to be so tried it. The space I put it in is just over 300' so I know I'm pushing it. Plugged it in, put it on low and in 2 hours it was a different room. My partner, not knowing I bought this, came home from work that night and asked me what I did because the air felt so much better. It made that much a difference that fast. Regarding noise, on low it's a little quieter than the air from the HVAC vents and easy to ignore. Higher than low It's too loud for me. Even on low it's just a hair too loud for me to want to sleep to as well so I turn it off at night. At a low setting it is a hair localized for my room getting one side but not the other. I've been moving it from side to side of the room about once a week and that keeps it balanced. I often turn it up if I am leaving the house for a few hours to help purge the air. Besides stale air we have a cat and the space often smells "catty" or I can smell the litter box from the next room. This took about 2 days to completely remove those smells. If I move it to the bathroom with the litter box it takes a few hours to completely remove all litter box and bathroom odor. I also have noticed way less dusting I have to do now. The pre-filter has gotten full of cat hair and dust quickly so I have had to blow it out with an air compressor to not have to keep replacing the filters but it's not that bad. In hindsight I see the newer models take 3 layers of filters so you can put a specialty filter for kitchen, smoke, pet etc. This unit uses 2 layers not three but still works well, I would have gotten two 200' tower units with this instead of this one larger 2 layer. The 3 layer newer ones are about 2x the price however. We did get a 3 filter for a smaller room. I like the smaller size but it honestly doesn't seem to work as well as this one, probably as it has less air flow being a tower with no large flat side. The timer function is mostly worthless. I don't need it to turn off after a certain number of hours. I need it to turn off at night, and turn on in the morning with a clock function like my thermostat. The upgraded unit with the auto feature is also worthless. It doesn't sense the room properly and says its fine when my nose says its not. Overall this thing is amazing and makes the living space feel so much better and actually works better than the upgraded unit. Very much worth the price. Only caution is maybe get a slightly larger unit than you think so on the low setting it covers your room space.

UPDATE 01/18/20 - Very Highly Recommended - Fantastic HEPA Air Filter at a Bargain Basement price.
*UPDATE 01/18/2020* After almost 4 years of continuing use of my Honeywell Hepa Air Purifiers they are still going strong! I now have 3 of these amazing machines, having replaced all three of my round Honeywell air filters. With regular maintenance and filter changes these air purifiers still do an excellent job of filtering the air in my home. I still have two cats in my home and my asthma has gotten a bit worse with age, but these Honeywell Hepa Air Filters still do an incredible job! The replacement filters are reasonably priced and the machines still maintain a virtually silent operation in the lowest setting. To sum up, 4 years later I am still very pleased with my purchase. Cheers! Tom F. - Chicago, IL. My chronic allergies and sinusitis have required that I use HEPA air filters in every room of my home. Over the past 20 years I have owned many different units, almost all of them were manufactured by Honeywell. While all had the same basic functions and worked quite well, this unit is by far the best and quietest air filter that I have ever owned. Consumer Reports rates this air filter very high and with good reason, because it's the best and most affordable unit on the market to date. The unit is very simple and offers double filtration, the extra thick charcoal filter is first, followed by the extra thick HEPA filter. The air is pulled in from the front of the unit where it goes through both filters and then comes out from an air grate on the top of the unit just behind the controls. This makes it a great space saver that can be placed almost anywhere, especially against a wall. There are 4 levels of filtration, #1) GERM, #2) GENERAL CLEAN #3) ALLERGEN and #4) TURBO. The 1st level GERM is virtually silent, I've never owned an air filter that is this quiet - it is the perfect level to use while watching a movie. #2) is a pleasant white noise that is barely audible and offers a great amount of filtration. The 3rd and 4th levels offer superior air flow and are so much quieter than my other Honeywell filters. While I still own multiple Honeywell filters and use them daily throughout my home, I will be replacing them with this unit as my budget allows. In searching for this air filter I looked very closely at comparable units priced as high as $600.- I was searching for an air filter that offered great filtration, but was also quiet so I could use it daily in my home theater room. After looking at almost 20 different units and brands in the $200-$600 price range, checking Consumer Reports as well as the Amazon consumer feedback I was won over by this Honeywell unit because of the price, the basic method of filtration, the very cool control panel, the fact that I could place the unit against a wall, the convenient size of the unit, and finally my positive experience over the past 20 years with Honeywell products. In the end I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this unit. One final note, the ability to turn the blue light off on the control panel is a welcome upgrade over my other Honeywell units. Thank you Honeywell & Amazon!

THIS IS REALLY HELPING MY ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA SYMPTOMS
I waited to write this review, until I had been using this air purifier for a couple of weeks. So here goes. I have mild asthma and have allergy problems - the latter of which have never been terribly troublesome, and I've always been able to control through use of OTC medications. Last year I moved into a lovely condo that's surrounded on three side by beautiful trees. I underestimated the degree to which these trees would exacerbate my allergies. Coupled with the enormous amount of rainfall we've recently experienced here in northern California - in the last month my allergic reactions became severe. Consulted my E.N.T. We adjusted the meds a bit and he urged me to invest in a HEPA air purifier. After reading about several different options, and reading MANY helpful reviews here on Amazon, I decided to purchase this unit. have this large one in my living room, and the smaller version of the same unit in my bedroom. PROS: After about 3 days I noticed a marked difference in the quality of the air in my condo. More importantly - I noticed a marked decrease in the normal, every-day nasal and chest congestion I've been experiencing. My coughing has dramatically decreased. Neighbors downstairs burned something quite badly 2 days ago (don't know what it was), but a FOUL odor was wafting up into my kitchen. That dissipated within less than 5 minutes. <---a brand new experience here. It has 3 air intensity levels. The highest level makes the "loudest" fan-like, white noise. When I leave home for the day, I set both purifiers at the highest setting. At home, the large unit in the living room is set to medium. At night, the smaller unit in the bedroom is set to low. I am really liking the low "hush" of white noise it produces. Both units have a blue light that can be dimmed, or not engaged at all. BIGGEST PRO: The quality of my sleep has dramatically improved. CON - can't really think of one. Several reviews here have offered that the sound is loud. I think it's loud only if you're accustomed to total silence at night. I find, with the purifier in the bedroom set to the lowest level, it emits a very low, soft "wooshing" kind of sound which provides a nice "white noise" that's helping me fall asleep. I would definitely recommend this unit to friends. It meets the specifications of what my doctor recommended, and it has made a dramatic difference in the quality of the air I'm breathing. A+++

moves the air and removes particulate matter such as dust & pet hair
My old air purifier had lost its umph and was not filtering much from the air any more. I am a mouth breather when I sleep and tend to have a stuffy nose a lot, so wanted something that would help clean some of the particulate matter (dust, hair, dander, mold/bacteria, etc) out the air. I was looking for a new that would had a cadr rating high enough for a fairly large (as air purifiers go) space. I tried a more expensive air purifier by a company that begins with "W" and it didn't move any air at all. It failed to colllect any dust or pet hair on the prefilter showing me that it was not working effectively. After reading reviews, I narrowed it down to this purifier and two others. One of them was almost twice the cost, so I went with this honeywell. First thing, is the purifier is quite large, however this was not an issue for me. After running the purifier for a week, there was a good amount of dust/hair built up on the prefilter which tells me it is effectively filter stuff out of the air. Like many purifies it has 4 speeds with the lowest being probably too slow to effectively filter anything out of the air, but is very quiet. In order for air purifiers to work effectively, they have to actually create enough current to move air around the room and draw it into the filter area, without being drawn away by the air current coming out of the purifier. On the highest speed it moves enough air to pull a piece of toilet paper towards the purifier from about a foot away, showing that it is moving the air and drawing it into the purifier. The highest speed is not as loud as other purifiers I have owned, I actually like the white noise when sleeping. Unlike others in this price range, the honeywell doesn't have a remote control, which would be a nice feature. You can no longer purchase the pre filters, so you have to buy large sections of carbon filter material and cut them down. This isn't really an issue for me. One of my only gripes is that this purifier uses 3 smaller hepa filter as opposed to one large one. There is rubber around where the filter goes into to help create a good seal, something many other purifiers were missing (helps purifiers with low cadr rating get a higher one, but doesn't filter the air getting through) in this price range. So far, overall I am happy with this purifier and would recommend it to a friend. In fact I recommended it to my parents who ordered the smaller version of this to help with dads allergies during summer pollen season. Update: 6/30/17 I have had the purifier for almost a year now. It is still running great. I had to replace the hep filters after about 6 months. The cost was about half the price of my other brand purifier. Overall I am still pleased with this purifier and would purchase another one.

I love this so much - we have multiple of this item.
Over the past 7 to 10 years, we have been purchasing this exact model for our house, and all of them still work perfectly. We live in a house that was built in the late 60s, have two cats and two dogs, and three teenagers. I am HIGHLY allergic to cats - if I pet them, I have to wash my hands immediately. The amount of pet dander in my home is outrageous. We also recently had our subfloor replaces in several areas of the house and it has caused a massive amount of wood-colored dust (we need to have our duct work redone and suspect it is a part of the dust issue in the house). These are strategically placed around the house for maximum cleaning. One, these are the best because you can place them against a wall. The downside is that it will create more dust on the wall near the air purifier. Simple logic - the air exits the top and what hasn't been sucked in through the device travels on a path that hits the wall. So you have to dust your wall - no big deal. I have to do that, due to just being noticeable, about twice a year. The hepa filters only need to be changed once a year, and the pre-filter every 3 months. When I change the pre-filter, I normally run a vacuum around the edges where there is dust buildup. This is unavoidable for any air purifier (I have tried many versions and keep coming back to this one). WHAT MAKES THIS THE BEST: - Durability. I have had our first one we ever purchased (maybe 7 to 10 years ago) running all day at the highest speed without going on turbo, consistently and there has been zereo degradation to the unit. It works as well today as it did when we purchased it many years ago. - White Noise. I like white noise, and unless it is on turbo, you don't really think about the sound once you get used to it. My pets are not afraid of it, which means it's just white noise to them as well. - Frequency of filter changes and types of filters. Sure you can buy the name brand filter replacements, but the generic ones are just as good and you save money. Honeywell's products are excellent from my experience, and the device itself has stood the test of time. For the filter replacements, you're just paying for the Honeywell name if you choose their higher priced replacements. -CLEANER AIR! Like I said, we have four of these now. One in my son's room which is a mother-in-law suite - the size is sufficient for the size of his room. The room was an addition built in the late 80s, early 90s, and the door to the outside isn't perfect (old house issues), and some outdoor allergens get into his room. Having one in his room has greatly reduced allergies during high pollen season (we are in the south, pollen is around all year). Since adding the most recent unit, the amount of the brown dust I have seen has been reduced. We also have one in our living room that is large enough to seat 10 people, and a home office. My newest one is located in another home office that I share with my dogs and their crates. Again, allergen reduction was easily noticeable once it was in place. The last one we own in in our bedroom because of my allergies (no pets allowed). I know it has made a difference because I have significantly less allergies in the morning than I did prior to putting one in our bedroom. My entire life has been one allergy attack after another, even after taking allergy shots. These units help me live life - WITH PETS I AM ALLERGIC TO - without a constant runny nose and itchy eyes. If you are looking for a unit that will not die in a year, or start making strange sounds after a few weeks of use, THIS IS THE UNIT YOU HAVE BEEN DREAMING OF! Like I said, we have had the same one for many years (we got our first one at a big box store and I can only guess that it was at least 7 years ago, but I suspect it was closer to 10).

Honeywell HPA300 True HEPA Air Purifier, Extra-Large Room, Black
After a few months of debating whether or not to get an air purifier, as well as which one, I finally decided on this one. I bought it for my "game room" which is approximately an 18' x 18' room. I have a pit/lab and border collie/lab and this room is connected to my back porch. It's also where their crates are, where I keep them gated in from the rest of the house when necessary since it's hardwood and tile (when it rains or in the winter months living in Upstate NY until they dry off), and also the room where I have been working from home since the woman took over my upstairs office while she works from home and we have an 18 month old. The border collie attracts a ton of dirt and dust of course so not only am I constantly cleaning all the dirt and dust but also have been sneezing a lot and feel like it's impossible to remove the smell. The first air purifier I received on Wednesday, January 13th 2021. I opened it and immediately noticed the top had a piece broken off (picture attached). I know I probably could have glued it back together myself, but for how much the item cost and having an 18 month old running around potentially grabbing it, I didn't want to risk it and also obviously wanted it to be without issue. I requested a replacement online, put it right back in the box, and brought it to the UPS store within an hour of receiving it. They put the replacement order through and said it would be delivered yesterday, Monday January 18th 2021, which it was. Again I opened it right away. This time there was an additional box around the item's normal packaging. The item came in with no exterior issues. I removed all of the plastic from the filters as well as on the outside of the air purifier and plugged it in. I could tell the air quality within 6-8 feet or so of the air purifier was better pretty quickly. I'd say within an hour or 2. After over 10 hours of running it does seem better from an estimated 12 feet or more away. I can't say for sure it's fully cleared up the entire room yet, but I can say it's much better. Turbo clean is pretty loud, but I only had it on for maybe the first 20 minutes of turning it on to get things moving. I don't mind the noise either as I'm used to having a fan on. General clean it pretty quiet to me and is the only other setting I've had it on. Germ cleaning is quieter and Allergen is a bit more noisy - just from switching through to check. The 2nd picture attached I just took of it. It's not in it's permanent location, but for overall context purposes I figured it may help me gauge how well it works. You can see the dust on the subwoofer behind it, the dust on the tv stand to the right, some fur on the ground, and to the very left is the border collie/lab's crate. I dusted, swept, and mopped about a week ago and give the floor a quick sweep 2 days ago. So my goal is to do the same thing and see if the air purifier prevents the dust from accumulating so quickly. I haven't used the timer, but I don't really see me "needing" it very often so I'm going to assume it works as intended. It's light and easy to pick up with the handles on the sides on top and the noise is fine, so I'm giving it a 5 star. If it doesn't prevent the dust issue I may come back and change it, but so far I'm happy with it. Although I had to return the first one, I understand things happen and the replacement process was pretty simple so I don't think that's worth taking a star away.

Works as expected
The reviews were excellent on this filter system & made me choose this over the others. One in particular explained how they were able to clean the HEPA & charcoal filters so you wouldn't have to buy new ones as often. Had this for a couple of months now & I must say that it sure pulls a lot of dust out of the air. We have it in our living room. I'm not sneezing as much as I used to. We've taken the advice on blowing out the charcoal filter with our air hose, and banging the HEPA filters on the sidewalk to dislodge the dust. Works like a charm. Had to do that after hardly two weeks after setting up the machine when it didn't seem to be pulling out as much dust as before. It was quite full of dust. The filter light never came on. We now check it every 2 weeks...it's dusty every time...doing its job. It's quiet on low, but gets noisier when turned up. We keep it on low. Great product. UPDATE: We've been using this now since February & after about 4 months, the HEPA filter light finally came on. We banged the filters on the ground (like a previous buyer suggested) but it didn't make the light go out. We went online to find replacement filters & ordered a box with 2 sets in it, so we should be good on filters till the end of the year. We only operate this machine when our windows are closed, as I don't see any value in filtering outside air that comes into the house through our open windows. Every couple of weeks, we take the foam charcoal filter out & use the handheld vacuum attachment (with the brush) to vacuum the dust off. Once a month, I vacuum that filter, then rinse it off & air-dry it overnight (turning off the machine until the filter is dry enough to be put back in). This machine is quiet enough to be put in a bedroom (when on lowest setting) & makes excellent white noise for those who need it. I've never had a filter machine like this before, so I don't have anything to compare it with, but it's doing a great job of removing dust from the air in our livingroom, where we spend most of our time. I also like that you can turn down the brightness of the instrument panel on top, or even turn almost all of them off, to cut down on extra light & power.

look no further, this is by far the best air purifier
Having three pets in my townhouse was pretty stuffy and the air smelled stale. After having this Honeywell purifier for one day I noticed the air was crisper and just smelled cleaner. I tried air fresheners, diffusers, and cleaning constantly, but it never lasted. I also had to clean my oven on self-clean for four hours and everyone knows how your home can smoke up quickly and linger all day but running this purifier helped tremendously because I have asthma and without this I could never the deep cleaning in my home without suffering. I also have neighbors who smoke and somehow the smell will come into my home and would choke me making me feel sick and I can say honestly, I no longer have this issue. I have two different purifiers in my upstairs bedrooms, and they don't compare to this product so I will be purchasing a couple more soon. I hope this helps everyone with making a choice because like myself wasting money on something other just isn't affordable .

Buenas noches
