IT WORKS FINE
I have deleted my former review (4-STARS) on this little printer. I got it used, in like new condition, and at a really real bargain price. As it turns out it is a much better printer than I had at first thought. People are impressed with the sharpness and image tonal quality of the prints. I formally was overly influenced by bad reviews posted on the net. Also, I thought that it was an important shortcoming that the printer is A/C only and couldn't run on batteries. Well, it works fine on my XPOWER POCKET POWERPACK 100. This is a NiMh battery pack that includes a pocket size (12 volt DC to 120 Volt AC) inverter. With this set-up I can leave it and the printer on all day and not come anywhere near power down. I've had this POWERPACK for years, it has other uses in emergencies, so it's not an additional expense.I had wanted a printer that I could use to make prints on site at the local dog park. This way I could give away free prints to the dog owners and then nobody would mind my running around shooting pictures. Now, when I do this, I actually make new friends.Okay, so the cost: I am able to get generic ink cartridges at very low cost through Amazon. I can use cheap glossy photo paper ($1.00 for eight 8.5"X11" sheets at the local "Dollar Store.") I use a standard paper cutter to cut the large sheets into 12 wallet size per sheet. Eight sheets times twelve wallet size prints equals 96 picture per $1.00 pack of photo paper. The SELPHY printer connects directly to all my Canon cameras and prints out wallet size prints (or 4"X6") in very little time. Print controls built into my canon cameras and this printer include the very important image cropping function. The bottom line: this is really a very cheap way to make friends. Everyone loves to get free wallet size pictures of themselves, their children, and their dogs.UPDATE: a few hours later.I downloaded the printer driver from Canon for my Web Book running 32 bit Windows XP. I couldn't find the product CD. No problem. The printer now works properly with my Eee PC. You know what, I think that my printer was manufactured after the initial negative reviews were published. I think Canon fixed the problems before my SELPHY DS810 was manufactured.

Canon Selphy DS810 photo printer
I replaced my old HP photo printer for this one. The buttons on the HP Printer were becoming difficult to make it work. The Canon Selphy printer was horrible. The quality of the prints didn't even come close to the HP quality. I could only print 15 photos before the cartridge became clogged and had to call tech support which didn't solve my problem. I returned the printer and will purchase an HP printer again. I don't recommend this product to anyone.

I'm no tech weanie..
I don't really have a problem with the printer, it actually seems to be working fine. My issue is with the fact that it didn't come with a USB cable, so I had to go to the local office supply store and get one. The second is just as minor, but still annoying, The printer does not support 4 gig SD cards so I had to go buy a smaller SD card. Before I purchased the printer, I contacted the good people at Amazon and asked them a few questions. The person assured me that a 4 gig would be fine, a little much, but should work fine. After receiving the unit, getting the USB cable and setting everything up, I went and took a few test pictures (I also purchased a new camcorder) then I went to test the printer but could not get it to recognize the card. I made a few troubleshooting attempts, but to no avail. I called the Canon tech support center and the gentleman quickly identified the problem. The printer works great and the product overview said it came with no USB cable, but I wish the tech limitations were a little more clear.

Very unhappy with this
The printing quality is good, but that's the only positive thing I can say. There's no place to leave paper in the printer, the indicator about which side of the paper to have in the "up" position is misleading, leading two a complete mess as you waste ink printing the wrong side of the paper. Even worse, it only allows you to plug in proprietary devices: Try to plug your USB storage device or any non-Canon device into it and it tells you it's incompatible. I got a $[...] rebate and it's still not worth it.

Cool package, nice price.
For a dedicated photo printer, I enjoy the ease of getting prints with the Canon software interface. This little number produces nice output. Consumables deplete rapidly but they don't scare you at the register. Ink tanks can be had for under $10.Some trouble with white edges on borderless prints, but power cycling seems to solve it.Paper tray leaves sheets hanging out in front where they are in the way.I use this printer to get quick snaps for fun and transmit or take my serious stuff to the photo finisher for prints. That said I'm happy enough with this purchase as it fits my need without regrets.

Canon Selphy DS810
Its an amazing little printer. It was very simple to hook up and was able to start printing right away. There is only one small draw back. If you wait a few days in between printing it takes about 3 printings to get everything back in a working order. Other than that. I love this little guy.

This printer is no good
I could not use this. Could not load the CD (for 32 bit) could not use my cameras SD card. This must be an old printer! What a waste of money and no customer service available. I highly recommend you not purchase this product!

Printer works fine, prints excellent pictures. Setup with the cable connect was a bit technical (This was purchased for 87 year old father-in-law). Printing from the memory stick was a more straight-forward. A good value.
