Excellent Pan and Tilt Cloud Camera
I tried the DLINK DCS-933L and was not happy with the video quality. Yes, I could see the room I was monitoring but if someone actually broke in to my residence you could never make out their face. I bought it locally and returned the camera.The TRENDnet TV-IP862IC has EXCELLENT video quality (H.264: 1280 x 720 up to 30 fps) and the software was simple to setup.I advise to go to TRENDnet website to get the newest Drivers/Utility Software instead of using the supplied disk:http://www.trendnet.com/support/supportdetail.asp?prod=235_TV-IP862ICI have setup the app for our android phones and the computer cloud connection works awesome!!! I am totally satisfied with this camera that does everything it's description describes (pan and tilt from my laptop or mobile device). There are some things this camera will do for advanced users. I have a portable 2 terabyte hard drive that connects to my network router's USB port. I can save my camera video recordings to this drive. Many cameras only save pictures and videos to their cloud (and charge for this service) or to the SD card. Another cool thing this camera has going for it is that you can mount it to the ceiling and select invert video so that it shows the right-side view of the video. There are many more features to explore with this exceptional camera at such an exceptional price!!!

Why is this product so hard to use?
I have 3 TrendNet switches that are fantastic, but this camera is a real pain. It took forever to get it to work and it was even marginal at that. FYI: it requires you to use their servers for access to the camera over the internet. The software to configure the camera sucks. UI is crummy and it took multiple tries to get the camera to work. Image quality is crappy - my iPhone takes better pictures. This is definitely NOT plug-n-play. Hey Trendnet have the camera team talk to the switch/router team about making good stuff! I finally gave up and gave the camera away to a school.

Very Good Camera / TrendnetView Pro Software Needs A Little Work
Overall rating of 4 stars - 5 stars for the product itself. I bought multiple units of this model and also have a TV-IP672WI model as well. The cameras work very well and the model 672 has been going nonstop for 1.5+ years as a baby/toddler monitor. I am very technically saavy and found these cameras very easy to set up on my home network. This model includes a wizard on the software CD to automatically set up the camera however I did not use this as I am familiar with the setup and camera administration interface already.The clarity of the picture is very good even when operating in complete darkness with the night-mode turned on. PTZ control is smooth albeit slightly delayed via the smartphone app and it has adjustable speed/travel via the camera interface. In order to use the automatic switching to night-day mode make sure you have the camera set in its final destination before setting the sensitivity. I have not used the recording to micro-SD card function since I stream to a computer for these cameras. Audio capture is surprisingly good. I have connected an external speaker to one of the cameras and that works well too for the two-way audio portion.3 stars for the included TrendnetView Pro application though. As I mentioned I am technically saavy and was able to figure it out just fine. However, the documentation could use a little work as well as the placement of options/features. The layout was not the easiest to get my head around at first. The software is very powerful with a lot of configuration options but I think it has a bug in it that I have opened a support ticket for recently. It seems that if you have multiple drives on your computer (ie. boot drive and a storage drive) and the application is installed to a storage drive the boot drive decreases free space when recording. The storage drive is also decreasing in free space as it should due to the recording as well. I have been through all the options and setup and everything seems correct for only recording to the storage drive. I am awaiting support to contact me about this issue.

Nice Camera, Motion Sensing Doesn't Work, Mem Card a waste
First, the positives.Very nice image, and Pan and Tilt function well.The problems ...1. When I went to install, it took several hours with their tech support to get the install complete. They aren't compatible with Google Chrome, and they don't work well with an version of IE past version 9.2. The biggest problem is motion detection. One of the reasons I bought the cameras was security. They're located in a vacation home, and I wanted them to alert me if motion was detected. They have the capability in their software (you can select an area to look at, and set a sensitivity value from 0 to 100). Unfortunately, no matter what setting I select, or what area I draw, I get multiple e-mails per hour, which renders this useless. I've worked with their tech support several times on this. Each time they re-set motion detection, and tell me I've done it incorrectly (although they do just what I've done). But I still get the emails.ADDED - 4/24/14 - I bought and installed memory cards in the cameras. The software allows you to ENABLE the memory cards, but I found no mention of READING them. Called support. The only way to read the card is to physically remove it from the camera, and read it in another device (your PC or tablet, for example). As that is not mentioned anywhere in the docs, thought it would be helpful to know before you invest in memory cards.And, by the way ... motion detection still generates numerous bogus alerts.

Install not a piece of cake
Just received two of these cams. Purchase was based on ease of install, no DDNS hence IP changes as previous. However these cloud cams proved difficult to install even following word for word using their small instruction leaflet. The error message " camera not found" repeatedly came up when initiating the wizard. Very annoying. Sent a report to Trendnet who suggested to find the IP address of the cam and set up in this manner! The opposite of what I wanted to do. Using my router I found the cam IP and went into cam setup and configured the wifi and other aspects. This is therefore not a 3 minute job as per their video but some technical knowledge is required to get things working. Please please Trendnet if you are going to make things simple, just make things simple!!! Test your products on non techies first. On a positive note they work very well although sometimes a bit slow on the cloud!

Bonne image, facilité d'installation, appli iPhone sympathique et bien faite.. Cette caméra tient ces promesses et on en est plutôt satisfait. Le seul point noir de cette camera, c'est l'interface d'utilisation qui ne marche que sous internet explorer.... Inutile de dire que l'on ne peut pas la configurer avec un mac ou Linux....De plus, ça marche pas avec chrome et firefox. Même en installant le plugin, cela ne veut pas marcher...Interface vraiment à revoir de ce point de vue !!

Gute Hardware mit unnötigen Defiziten bei der Software
Lieferung erfolgte wie immer schnell und unproblematisch. Danke mal wieder an Amazon!Die Cam selbst macht einen ordentlichen EIndruck und fühlt sich recht ordentlich an. Inbetriebnahme erfolgte schnell und problemlos. Sollte auch für Menschen keine Hürde darstellen, die nicht jeden Tag mit Rechnern und Netzwerken zu tun haben. Nach dem grundlegenden Setup funktionierte sie auch einwandfrei.Eine weitere Konfiguration über die Cloud ist leider nicht möglich, da meine Internetverbindung angeblich zu schlecht ist (16 mbit). Nun ja - vielleicht sollten die ihre Cloud nicht (nur) ans andere Ende der Welt stellen. Wozu man für die Konfiguration der Cam eine wahnsinns Verbindung braucht, verstehe ich auch nicht so ganz. Somit ist leider die Möglichkeit der Konfiguration aus der Ferne unmöglich und kann nur im lokalen Netzwerk durchgeführt werden. Schade, denn dieser Punkt wäre interessant gewesen.Im Prinzip tut sie bisher (2 Wochen) zuverlässig das, was sie soll: Raum überwachen, in welchem sich eigentlich niemand aufhalten sollte.Kleiner Tipp am Rande:1. Bei den Einstellungen zur Alarmierung via FTP und email bekam ich beim Test nach Eingabe der Daten immer die Meldung, dass der Test nicht funktionierte. Hat mich wahnsinnig gemacht ... bis ich festgestellt habe, dass nicht die Einstellungen Blödsinn sind, sondern die Fehlermeldung! Trotz Fehlermeldung wurde sowohl per email versandt, als auch per FTP hochgeladen.2. Die Empfindlichkeit bei Motion Detection als erstes von den Standard 90% auf 40 - 50% setzen, da man sonst wahnsinnig wird.Die Qualität der Bilder würde ich einfach mal als "OK" bezeichnen. Wenn ich bei HD auch etwas anderes erwartet hätte, so darf man wohl in dieser Preisklasse einfach keine gestochen scharfen Bilder erwarten.Gründe für den Abzug:1. Absolut inakzeptabel ist die Tatsache, dass die Firm-/Software der Cam jede Eigenbewegung via Fernsteuerung als Bewegung auslegt und man permanent mit Alarmen überschüttet wird! Leider kann man das ja wegen der "zu schlechten" Internetverbindung auch nicht temporär in der Cloud deaktivieren. Katastrophale Programmierschlamperei!2. Ich habe einige andere Kameras von anderen Herstellern probiert. Diese ist die einzige, die auch tagsüber, wenn die Sonne nicht voll in den Raum scheint oder es bedeckt ist, in den Nachtmodus schaltet. Unnötig und vermutlich wird dies zu Lasten der Lebensdauer der Infrarot-LED gehen.3. Die reaktionszeit bei Auslösung des Bewegungsmelders ist teils etwas sehr träge. Bewegt sich jemand etwas zügiger durch den zu überwachenden Bereich, bekommt man leere Alarm-emails zugesandt. Der "böse Bube" war also schon wieder aus dem Bereich, als die Cam aufgenommen hat.Jetzt bin ich mal gespannt, ob die Cam wenigstens Ausdauer beweist und einige Zeit ihren Dienst verrichten wird. Trotz der angesprochenen Minuspunkte werde ich die Kamera behalten, da ich in dieser Preisklasse einfach keine bessere gefunden habe.
