Pioneer DEX-P99RS Stage 4 Reference Series CD Receiver

if you like SQ but don't want to mess around with a lap top computer this is it,this is something you can adjust on the go if and when you feel or notice something that needs it,not like the lap top tuners where you have to wait to you get home and find time to do all that crap,no this just makes sense,i have two pioneer 80's in other rides so I'm kinda familiar with the tuning on this so that helped me out a lot,but I'm still playing around with eq settings i love it,i wish i had two more for my other rides,I'm not rich by no means it took me a while to save up for this,you should do the same,just save some money for a few months i promise you will like it,its night and day difference i mean come on do you think it wouldn't be anything at all for that price,I've never paid this much for one item in audio ever..not just for one piece but like i said best money ever saved and spent,just do it.

I have focal es 165k2’s. Upgrading from pioneer deh-80prs and a crossfire 800.4 to this radio and a crescendo 1100.4. My doors are fully insulated with 3 layers of sound deadening and 1/4 inch of acoustic foam lining over top the deadening material. The sound deadening before swapping out headunit and radio is what made the biggest difference but not i can say that with the combination i have now its complete audio heaven. My substage is 2 zv5 12’s on an scv-4000d. The SQ could be better from the subs but i feel like i just need to line the inside of the box with the acoustic foam.The pioneer dex-p99rs is an upgrade over the 80prs in terms of build quality, sound quality, adjustability, tuning, and slight output difference but you lose features like bluetooth and 3.5mm aux. the difference in SQ comes into play mostly when there are dynamic midbass and midrange passages from 100-1000hz region. There’s also additional no noise in the background when the volume is up but music is paused. I produce and engineer music at home but will be starting to do projects in the car just because the sound is so much better than what i can get in a large room. Once i sound deaden and acoustically treat the roof and floor the system will be done. I may upgrade to an scv7500d but as far as extracting musical fidelity, the job is finished. You will be pleased with a p99rs and its actually easier to navigate the menus than the 80prs. But i will not recommend this unless you buy an 80prs and arent satisfied. I could downgrade to the 80prs and still feel complete. Just to speak to the level of quality both head units are. If you want to test the quality do not listen to mainstream hip hop, pop, or rock as a reference. Use jazz or classical music as these are the cleanest recordings on the market. Overall im proud of pioneer. Thanks for considering audiophiles and making room for us too. Would love for Pioneer to advertise their $2000 separates. Might have tried to get those instead

This matches its hype. I already had high-end component speakers, amps, and subs, along with an aftermarket HU (not Pioneer, another brand) that was itself supposed to be excellent, but the system only became truly stunning when I upgraded to this. The audible difference from solely making the change to this Pioneer HU, clear, rich, beautiful sound, proves the difference this truly amazing HU makes. Listening is pure enjoyment, I simply LOVE it. Even its visual aesthetics are absolutely excellent. Phenomenal work, Pioneer, I really respect you for what you have achieved.

So far so good, I'm running this in LRx2ch with stock speakers in my Scion xD. While the front mids ARE spliced to the tweeters - the sound has really improved and for the price it should. I'm waiting for my krx3's so I can remove the factory speakers and install the components and focal subs already in a box. Over the past week I've spent about 5-6 hours working with the crossovers mostly but a little bit of the eq- also. This is my first aftermarket radio and I'm glad I bought it. I hope I'm not disappointed when the speakers get here as I have high expectations, fingers crossed.

All I can say is, thank you Pioneer for creating this masterpiece! Since I installed it in my car, I don't want to get out of it and I cannot wait for the next ride just to enjoy the music again. The level of this detail with this headunit is stunning. I need to become a sound engineer to get it setup close to perfectly but already after a couple of trials this thing brings music to a new dimension. WOW.
