Terrific Soundbar
Bought this as a gift for my dad who has trouble hearing the television. Conversations can be low with sudden, loud action scenes or music. I didn't want the expense or hassle of a full home theater system. The TV volume just needed a boost. This fit the bill perfectly. TV speakers are just worthless. This unit doesn't just make things louder, the highs are clearer so dialogue is easier to understand. It has a decent bass to it so action and music fill the room with sound without killing your ears. The Bluetooth is nice too. Syncing up from my tablet, phone or computer is easy as a push of the button. The freedom to move around and control the music is great.Audiophiles will probably not be satisfied, but for the more casual listener like myself and my father, it sounds fantastic.Pros: Easy setup. Bluetooth gives some versatility beyond just TV speakers without the hassle of extra wires. Large, warm sound with clear highs.Cons: The only issue I've had is the speaker switching over on its own every once in a while. A simple button press fixes it. Doesn't happen often enough to be a serious issue.

Sound is great but the system has flaws!
It turns off everytime it wants. It won't turn on after disconnecting the entire system. Very annoying. Only works properly for a short period od time.

This is a huge improvement over TV speakers
Before I bought mine, I read all of the reviews and I was a bit hesitant to buy it, but I decided to give it a try. I have had it in place for a couple of months and I am glad that I bought it. Let me set the record straight on a couple of items. If you are expecting this to replace a 7.1 system with front, back and middle speakers, you are going to be really disappointed. If your are expecting this speaker bar to replace the thundering bass of 1000 watt sub with a 15 inch woofer, again, you are going to be disappointed. On the other hand, if you are not satisfied with the sound that your TV is putting out and you don't want to install speakers in your ceiling, this sound bar does an excellent job. The sound is greatly improved and the installation is pretty easy.Pros: Sound is much clearer and fuller than TV speaker sound. It is able to recognize sound input and auto turn-on/off and it can be trained to recognize the volume up/down and mute buttons on your existing remote. In other words, no need to use another remote to operate it. It can be paired with most tablets or phones and the presence of a blue tooth sender also triggers the sound bar to turn on.Cons: If your bluetooth device is in range when the TV is turned on, sometimes the soundbar decides to ignore the TV input and will go into bluetooth mode, instead.Clarification: I have seen reviews that indicate that the soundbar turns off after 10 minutes, even if it is in use. I have never had that happen. I have used the analog input, the optical input and the bluetooth and have never had it turn off after 10 minutes until I have turned off the sending device (and it was supposed to turn off). Not sure what the difference is, but it works correctly for me.Bottom line: If you want much better sound than your TV can produce and you do not want to add satellite speakers or use an external AV amplifier, then buy this.

Lacks lip sync capability
Good sound, a bit too much bass but not a problem there.Easy to connect with the optical cable, which will be your only connection choice if your TV is like many modern flat screens and doesn't have audio out jacks but only HDMIs and Optical.Remote control is so-so, the volume buttons are not very responsive. I programmed the TV remote to change the soundbar volume and it works fine, just aim away from the TV if you want to change the volume of the soundbar only (without changing the TV speakers' volume). It's hard to know when the bass enhancement is on. The surround doesn't make much of a diffrence. But neither of them are really needed anyway. If you plan to use this with a TV, be aware that this unit lacks lip sync (audio delay) capability. This means that if you are watching cable TV and the cable signal is digital (Comcast Xfinity in my case), the TV takes few milliseconds to process the image, while the soundbar doesn't need this time to process the audio. This results in the audio coming earlier than the image, so you hear the person's voice slightly earlier than you see the lips moving. You can turn the TV speakers to zero so there's no echo, yet the lack of sync between image and audio is noticeable. This issue does not arise when watching DVDs. But some sound bars in this price range have lip sync/audio delay control on their remote, if you are willing to forgo the bluetooth. If you want both lyp sync and bluetooth, you need to spend more.

Mounting bracket fits strangely
Sound and controls are good, but the mounting bracket fits poorly due to lack of clearance for screw heads. I had to drill more holes in the area that matches up to the recessed region in the speaker body.

Great Value!
Purchased this for my 66 yo cousin who is A/V illiterate. She was able to connect it to her TV, CD player, and cable box with only a little long-distance coaching from me (and of course the interconnects which I supplied and a little diagram I drew on a blank piece of paper). When her adult children visited her and saw her new JBL Sound Bar, they heartily approved of it and they think it sounds great, and I'm sure it does for what it is.

I am completely satisfied with this product
I am completely satisfied with this product. It has been sometime I was looking for a sound bar which is compact as well as good enough. I would say this is one of the best in the market in the price range. Movie experience is amazing. The harmon surround effect is beautiful, if it can be positioned well, improves movie experience through dolby/surround. I also use it as a primary music speaker through Bluetooth. Also it can paired with TV remote volume buttons, so you do not need to worry about the tiny remote.

Stay away from this one.
Stay away from this one. The sound is no better than the speakers on my Toshiba TV. The volume in insufficient and the quality of the sound is terrible even to my 54 year old ears !I set it up listened to it and compared it to my TV speakers. I had it back in the box and scheduled for return (Thank you Amazon !) within an hour.
