Great speakers
I've always been a fan of the Rockford Fosgate product line of speakers. I actually purchased these speakers for the rear and the P165-S (component) for the front. I love that the cross over is built-in. No external cross over box to deal with. They sound clean and crisp. Don't expect big bass out of them, but as a full range speaker, they work greatMy only complaint is not about the speaker but about installing them in a Mitsubishi Lancer. For some odd reason, the engineers at Mitsubishi decided to cut our a triangular shape for the speaker. The stock speakers have a 1/2" spacer that separates the speaker from the door in order for it to fit. With out the spacer the speaker sits in too far and the cage hits the opening. Be prepared to make some sort of spacer. I simply took a piece of 1' MDF wood and cut it out the same size as the outer diameter of the speakers. Then I cut out an inner circle that the speaker could fit into. Screwed the spacer to the car and the speaker to the spacer.

The alpine R is a better speaker in my opinion but these were a 1/3 ...
This is the second pair I have purchased. First pair was for my 1987 BMW convertible, second was for my 95 Bronco. These were purchased as replacement for my Alpine R. The alpine R is a better speaker in my opinion but these were a 1/3 the price. The sound quality is very good but than again the Bronco is huge. I am running these speaker straight from my Alpine head unit. As stated by previous reviewers and in my last post these are not going to be efficient if you want big sound from an amp, If you want to crank them up you need to move up to a power series speaker. These speakers will produce quite a bit of sound but don't over drive them.

Didn't Fit, But...
More than one source indicated that these speakers would fit in the front doors of my 2009 Honda Ridgeline, but this wasn't the case. Specifically, the speaker's rear metal housing was too wide to allow for a flush fit into the doors' precut openings. However, the speaker's solid construction and great sound made me want to do something to install these guys.I bought a foot long piece of aluminum tubing (about $3), 1/4 inch OD, and cut 8 13/16 inch pieces to extend the speakers out from the precut openings, yet still fit when I put the front doors' panels back on. I then screwed the speakers over the precut openings with self-tapping metal screws through the tubing pieces (4 per speaker) into the doors' metal framing on the fringe of the precut openings. This worked perfectly. Oh yeah, I wired the speakers before installing in the doors (LOL). Wow - these speakers sound great...

Day 1
Just installed them in my 07 Grand prix.My setup,Headunit is a $200 sony single din4 channel amp is brx640.4 hifonicsmono block amp is brx1100.1D hifonicsSub is T1D412 rockford in custom boxthese speakers definitely complete my setup nicely. iv had a few shops tell me my car is the best sounding car they have ever heard. no distortion and crystal clear sound. i have 2 batteries powering everything and knukoncept wiring. you can hear my car a mile away if my windows are down (they never are) and my whole car is dynomated from head to toe so outside the car you can barely hear anything. would 100% buy them again. oh and the speakers i replaced with these were some 3 way pioneers i got from bestbuy 50W rms and 300 peak. they were not nearly as nice as these rockfords.

Quality issue, but found problem
I was the lucky guy who received this product with a factory defect. The factory OQC team apparently missed the inspection of my 2 speakers. The issue was the voice coils were mounted to the post, but not soldered together. They intermittently worked based on the humidity and vibrations from the car. This drove me crazy as it was causing my head unit to go into protection mode and cut off sound to all speakers. After replacing 2 Pioneer head units, I finally realized that these speakers were the root issue. After spending 20 seconds resoldering the coils to the post, everything worked perfectly! I suspect that this is a very rare issue as RF has very good quality. Unfortunately I was the lucky guy got the defective package and it caused me some pain. I guess I should have tried my luck with the lottery that day instead! :-)

Amazing!
I got these because I had been wanting to upgrade my system for a long time now, and I had a pair or Rockford Fosgate Prime subs a couple years ago with a different vehicle, so I decided to stick with RF and got their punch series. And I'm glad I did, I immediately noticed a big difference with these speakers they are so much more clear and loud then the stock I've been dealing with. I got these for the front with the RF P1462 for the back.I liked them so much, I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and bought 4 8" RF P1S2-8 subs to run underneath my bench seat, along with a RF P300x1 mono amp and a RF P1000x1bd mono amp to run them. You will not be disappointed with these!

Great highs and mids, no lows.
These were installed as replacements for my OEM rear door speakers on a 2002 GMC Crewcab, while the sound reproduction for mids and highs is great, the lows are almost non existent. My OEM speakers did a much better job of low end sound reproduction, which if not for the fact that I will be adding a Punch P3S 10 sub under the rear seat (as soon as the Qlogic box arrives) would be an issue for me. Would recommend these to anyone doing a full system upgrade as long as a sub install was part of the upgrade, otherwise you will find the lows lacking.

Expected more bass
So I replaced some monsoon speakers in my 09 vibe gt. There was nothing wrong with them just thought I could upgrade them. First off did not get these speakers when I order them. Ended up getting just the component woofer 165-s, but kept them and tried just work with what I had. Then I realized I would need a better amp to power them so I got an alpine mrx f35. Also figured I should do some sound dreading with some dynamat...Hooked it all up and the sound is really clear, awesome highs and mids. I really could hear all aspects of the songs except for the what I thought I would automatically have since the monsoon speakers hit harder with the factory amp. Overall, decent speakers, good price but the bass doesn't really come through on these...
