Question 1

Why does my lightest string constantly buzz?

Accepted Answer

It's Possible That That E String Is Hitting The Fret When Played, This Usually Happens When:
1. The Neck Is Bowed.
2. String Action Too Low.
The best way and easiest way for a novice to examine the neck is to use the strings. Hold the 6 string down at the first fret and at the last fret. Check to see if you have any space between the bottom of the string and the top of the 9th fret. If you have no space the guitar will buzz
Should a guitar neck have a slight bow?
Relief is usually not a good thing is a guitar neck. A slight amount of relief is fine and with some playing techniques it is advantageous; however, the general rule of thumb is that we want the neck/fretboard to be flat–no back-bow and no relief. ... Tightening the truss rod too much can cause back-bow.
How high should the action be on an electric guitar?
Action on a guitar is usually measured at the 12th fret. Typically preferred action on an electric guitar is around 1/16" (1.6mm) on the high E string and 3/32" (2.4mm) on the low E string when in standard tuning using standard gauge strings.
What should my guitar action be?
The average string action of the guitars I set up is 3/32 inches on the bass side and 1/16 inches on the treble side. It is important to note that to change your action height at the 12th fret a certain distance, you must multiply that number by two to find the height to raise it at the saddle.

Accepted Answer

These are made in China and are passive. The MJ series rhoads (made in Japan) is $2799. These are excellent guitars and make really good platforms for upgrades.

These guitars are perfectly fine as is and most people are happy with them for years completely stock. That being said, upgrading the pickups and adding a tusq nut brings this guitar to a whole nother level comparable with guitars triple the price
