Yes it is compatible with a Barista express machine, but there is a slight caveat. This is designed for the La Spaziale machines and in being so, the lip around the diameter of the basket is approximately .5 to 1mm too wide to fit in the Barista Express group head. These baskets are also VERY DEEP baskets, as I think the La Spaziale group head extends further into their baskets than the Barista Express group heads, so read to the end!The basket itself will fit into the portafilter, but it will then not clamp into to group head due to the larger diameter of the lip. The workaround is to place the original filter basket on top of this basket and mark around the lip with a fine tip pen. You must then file around the diameter to bring it down to the size of the original basket. A Dremel (or similar) will do.It is definitely worth doing, as the original basket will barely hold 19gm of coffee, where this La Spaziale basket is much deeper and will easily accommodate up to 23gm of coffee before it starts to imprint on the shower screen.This IMS competition basket B652Th27.5M 12-18gm is more of a direct replacement for the original basket, as these La Spaziale baskets are extremely deep baskets. The 12-18gm B652Th27.5M is, in my opinion, a better replacement than the slightly larger 18-21gm basket a lot of people are choosing, due to the 18-21gm basket being too deep.

Bought as an upgrade for my Sage Duo Temp Pro as I read online it could be made to fit. Wasn't the easiest of processes to be honest, took a lot of bending, hammering and sanding to get it to fit. Not a project to undertake lightly and requires patience. It is clearly a superior basket though, flow consistency is much improved. One last thing to bear in mind is that you will get through the beans quicker as it takes about 22g to fill.
