The Wright Brothers: A Biography (Dover Transportation)

I have read a few books on the Wright brothers and this one is more personal. I feel like I am getting to know Wilbur and Orville better as average people with above average intelligence. What most people don’t understand is they had to learn how to fly with no one to teach them because there was no one who knew how to fly. They had to deal with inaccurate information. Many leading scientists published articles without proving the accuracy of the stated standards. Not many people have the courage to throw out the information from the Smithsonian and start from scratch, then put your life on the line. These men are my heroes.

Two brothers who were bicycle repair men dared to do the impossible. To achieve this they risked their lives and had to challenge the conventional wisdom around flying. Their tunnel experiments unlocked the truth why previous flying attempts by others had failed. They fought for what was rightly theirs and it was shameful for an institution like simothinian to try and steal their legacy. They were an inspiration to later inventors and entrepreneurs

This story of two curious and amazing boys is just right. There's enough detail to feel we know them and plain enough to be read by young teens as well as adults. The boys were fascinated by anything that "worked" and often saw a chance to make an improvement, always curious about how it worked and how it could work better.This is not a studious biography with footnotes and scientific language, it's a visit with a friend of the Wright family and lets us feel that we also watched them grow and discover.

What an exciting book on the history of the Wright brothers, and the development of the airplane. aviation. Their history making first flight production of the airplane. One of the most wonderful history lesson in aviation. The only drawback is that the book is (4" 6 1/2") but the content is first class.

This is one of those books that anyone interested in the Wright Bros. must read. Kelly was a friend of Orville's and had direct info to work from. Easy to read. Book arrived quickly and in excellent condition. Would recommend this purchase from this group again.

This book is the best biography of the Wright Brothers, period.

I purchased this as a resource to allow my daughter to use for her report. The location of the publisher is not available including what seems to be a shady name and no real information about the company is available anywhere. The pages for the book are not printed. She ultimately could not use this as a source. The information on the Amazon website states a different publisher and number of pages than what there really is.
