There really isn't anything I dislike about this ladle. It has a generous bowl (6-8 oz) and is carved from a single piece of wood, so very sturdy. It is very attractive, and fits comfortably in the hand. I have thrown my old metal ladle away because I didn't like the way it scraped the bottom of my pots. No such issues with a wooden ladle. I highly recommend this product.

I bought this to use as a soup ladle. The end of it was broken upon arrival, not due to shipping, but due to a knot at the end of the cup section. Anyone who works with wood understand that knots in the wood are unstable due to high stresses around the area. That being said, that was not taken into account during the creation. If the knot were located at any point in the handle, it wouldn't be a big deal and might even add character to the piece. Instead, it is located in the bowl section and causes a leak when trying to pick up a liquid. This is a gift and due to time constraints I have not contacted the seller for a refund. I may try to fill the leak with epoxy in the future. With all that being said, the wood is beautiful and the it is a nice size to be used practically. Obviously, when working with wood you never know what you will get, but the knot should have been seen by the craftsman/woman and either this ladle should not have been accepted, or the knot placed in a non-crucial area such as the handle.

Theres definitely a crack in the wood, looks natural, so i am going to see what I can do to seal it so it doesnt harbor bacteria. Possibly sand and then see if I need to add some sort of filler. I may also return it.

I love olive wood kitchen utensils and I had been wanting a ladle for a while. Sur La Table has a very similar model that retails for about $50....a little steep. Granted, theirs is of much better quality than the one I purchased here. My ladle is cracked in 2 different places! Small cracks though...doesn't bother me. For what I need it for, it'll be fine.

Love this wooden spoon. It is solid and the ladle is a good size for spooning up soups or sauces. Perfect size.
