desertcart.com: The Knit Vibe: A Knitter’s Guide to Creativity, Community, and Well-being for Mind, Body & Soul: 9781419732799: Howell, Vickie: Books Review: A must have in your craft library! - I love this book. It touches on loving the craft and keeping yourself well balanced both in mind, body and soul. How all of that affects us creatively. It's a great resource on where to start and enjoy your craft journey. The bits with some of the leaders/designers in the industry are inspiring. I even finally braved some yoga from this book lol. At least take time to focus on breathing and relaxing and finding your zen in life. Love the patterns too. Working on the knit fingerless mitts right now. Review: Not Your Mother’s Pattern Book; An Ode to Yarn - This long awaited book is definitely coffee table worthy. It’s so much more than your typical knitting book. In fact it’s really a “yarn book” because so much of the meaty contents apply to the yarn world in general. The layout is beautiful, the interviews and essays wonderfully written and the patterns delightful. This was never meant to be a pattern book; it’s designed to address the zen, The Vibe, of what makes yarn so special to so many of us and in that area it hits the ball out of the park. I view it as Vickie’s ode to the wonderful world of knitting and crochet. She has totally captured what makes so many of us love yarn. Vickie gets us and we love her for it!

Everything you could ask for in this busy world
I originally bought the Kindle version of the book and figured I would be able to take it along if I was working on one of the many patterns in the book. While at an appointment with my Kindle it opened at the beginning of the book. I started to read and was captivated by the interviews with the designers. They were well written and just long enough to capture the attention of a busy person in this crazy world. I decided at that point I had to purchase the hard copy of the book. As stated by other reviewers the book is beautiful, colors happy and calming! I love that Vickie has given us a book that covers all of out being....the inquisitive part of our personality and the spiritual part of our being. She gets it....Knitting for me is all of that. I love the book so much that I am the proud owner of digital and paper! Anyone who loves the book as much as I do should look at YarnYay. It is a wonderful group that she started and I am a proud member of. The picture above is one of the knitting club I started at school. 28 kids in all and they all love Vickie too!

Good for Crafters
Nice book. Vickey Howell does a good job. However, the book is very heavy. Hurts my hands to hold it. Still deciding.

Beautiful, versatile and fun book to help nourish and promote your creativity...
Loved the versatility of this book, so much more than just a book of knitting patterns... the insights into the creative minds of designers, the profiles of folks who have used their craft to make the world a better place and mind and body wellness inspiration. F course, there are some great patterns... love the “Go-To Gifts” section. Vickie has always given us patterns that are practical, functional, beautiful and easy to execute and this book does not disappoint. A gift idea, sure to be appreciated by any knitter on your list!

Interesting and useful!
This really is a great book about knitting and fiber arts. The patterns are great- I have 3 “go-to” projects on needles now! The interviews are interesting- I just pick up and read a bit here and there. Photography is beautiful too. A great book to learn and find inspiration!

I Wanted To Love This Book
I had been looking forward to this book. The material is presented beautifully, however, the content isn't as "meaty" as I would have liked. There are sections in the book which I wish the author would have expanded more on. A controversial pattern in the knitting world was given much more credence and coverage (space) in this book than is warranted. I would have enjoyed reading more about some of the spiritual practices and "actual" designers. The patterns included are nice and interesting. I wish there would have been patterns included by some of the designers interviewed: ie., Caitlin Hunter and Kaffe Fassett. It's a nice book to have on my shelf - but again - I was hoping for so much more.

It's Alright...
I want to start off stating that I do like this book - a lot. It is wonderfully designed, the cover is thick and sturdy, and the pages are glossy and colorful. I'm not docking any stars because - well, to each their own - but I felt that a lot of the book was about the knitting community and designer interviews. While someone may find it interesting, I found it dragging a little bit and was anxious to get to the actual knitting advice and mindfulness discussions. Yet - that part of the book was rushed (one page for connecting it to mindfulness, one page for connecting it to religion or spirituality, etc.) But, the end of the book has some beautiful patterns and ideas for knitting. Throughout the book there is some good advice and cool knitting knowledge. There is even a section where you can find the perfect stitch to do based on your birthday - or the perfect gift to make for a specific star sign. Overall, I don't regret buying this book. I have new patterns to make, and a beautiful book for a coffee table even if I didn't like the content. Overall, give it a chance.
