This is a fantastic little air duster. I've been on the fence about getting one of these for the last few years and finally decided to get one as my last can of air ran out. I wish I would have gotten one sooner.The device is a bit smaller than I expected, but don't let that fool you: this thing has more than enough power, even without any of the attachments, to clear dust out of darn near everything. I typically just use the attachment shown in use in all the listing images, but it comes with about a half dozen other various attachments that you could use if you desired. The one shown in all the pictures concentrates and directs the air very well for dusting PCs and keyboards.The unit is a bit noisy while in operation, but trust me, you don't want to be doing this indoors anyway. After a solid 5 - 10 minutes of use, the unit does get warm to the touch, but I'm being a bit anal about how dust-free my computer is before I call it all clean. The instructions mention that after prolonged use the unit may get warm to the touch and say that this is completely normal and to simply allow the device to cool before using again.As I said before, I wish I had bought this unit sooner. There are a few things that really make this thing worth the money. First, this unit was made in the USA. Second, do you know that feeling you have with a can of air where you think "Well, this component could be a bit cleaner, but this can is almost empty and I still have the rest of the computer to dust"? It's such a liberating feeling to not have to worry about that and to dust to your heart's content. Third is that I'll never have to pay $10 bucks for a two pack of canned air (really, canned chemicals that come out under high pressure) again, nor will their waste be consuming space in a landfill.If you have the money, pick this gem up. You won't be disappointed.

I am tired of buying canned air and of freezing my hands to clean a computer -and I still am; I am never buying canned air again!! This thing is amazing!!! I can't even begin to tell you how powerful it is and how great it cleans. I can even clean in between the blades of the huge heat sinks the XEONs that my workstation needs and when I am done, everything looks brand new again!! I read a review here wherein the reviewer read another review claiming that it could blow leaves off a deck and he did not believe the review until he tried it. I did not believe either review -then I tried it and WOW! The leaves did not stand a chance!! The blower is exceptionally well built and I expect that we will be together for many happy years. Solid steel, powerful, made in the USA -by a family business no less!, and for only a little bit more than a few cans of air, what's not to like!!I can't recommend this product highly enough! I love it! To the people that make it: DO NOT CHANGE A THING!! LET ME DISAVOW YOU OF THAT IDEA! It will dry a car, blow out the ac vents, and clean out (and not just inside the cooking area) a microwave. I also use it to blow out the tubes in the back of the fridge and behind and around here and there. I have even used it to clean out the VACUUM CLEANER! Hoses and all, when it came time to change the drive belt etc... I have no doubt that I got more use out of the vac simply because it did not have to work as hard as one that had more dirt in the hoses and the motor compartment than in the bag or canister! I do only have to dust the computer twice a year but that is only because it really does clean it out that well.No, I did not get paid to write this review (I have written very few) nor did I get the product at a discount or something. I did not know anything about either the product or the company back then; I first bought it with the idea that spray cans are not environmentally friendly and this was a way of doing something about the 12 cans or so that it took to clean the workstation because the "cheese grater" is far harder to clean with the cans than it is with this duster. Now, 7 years later, I do know and I mean what I said.

Background:I got tired of buying compressed air cans for 3 reasons 1) do not pack punch, 2) sinking costs of attritional material as you keep using them and 3) add waste as we don't know if the local waste company just dumps them into a landfill or recycles.I read a lot of reviews of this baby, and at $60.00 price could not beat the fact that money would be recovered before the 5-year warranty expires from not buying the air cans. I have now used this tiny sucker for over 9 years and it is still running like it was brand new.The Good:1. Solid build quality. This thing is like an iron brick. Other than the plastic handle, everything else seems to be metal. Robust metal casing with good fixtures connecting and holding the unit tight. Even the original box that it came in feels very well made and heavy duty. The paint job on the can feels professionally done.2. Awesome power. Depending on the connector you use, this thing generates a healthy dose of power. It can really get into the nooks and crannies of mechanical, electrical or computer devices without running out of steam. The air feels like coming from a miniature jet engine.3. Plethora of Connectors. Depending on your usage you can use the 5 supplied connectors to really blow things off.4. Made in the USA - "Because it Matters" that's the company tagline.5. Nice detail showing the date of manufacture.6. Ergonomic Handle, which lets you not feel tired from extended use.Cons: While not really cons, I would consider them as improvements.1. It would be good to have a cord zip tie to keep the power cord together. I am using a Velcro strap.2. A small diameter tube, equivalent to the can air canisters would be a nice addition.3. Heat. The unit can get hot upon frequent use, so it would be good to be safe while holding it.4. Loudness. I am on fence, to have a powerful system the motor will emit loud noise, but I wonder a little sound deadening can help to damp the noise. But such deadening can also create a heat retention cloak preventing proper heat dissipation.Bottom-line:If you need to buy it, do not worry and pull the trigger. It is a good device. It will probably outlast you. Also, it supports US manufacturing, even if it is a little pricey, but the amount of money it has saved me by not using the cans, it has paid itself three times over. Also, it indirectly saves more money by not filling the landfills faster and causing your taxes to go up.

After hearing about this blower in passing on a computer forum, I finally thought I'd pick one up and give it a try after using canned compressed air since well, forever.What shipped in was a product reminiscent of a vacuum, except for the fact that it doesn't suck up dust - it only blows it around. But when I say blows it around, I am certain it's far more powerful than any household full size vacuum I've ever tried!The end goal for me purchasing this was to simply keep my computer dust-free. Since I rebuilt a system with many intake fans, it's only a few days / couple of weeks until dust is visible on the front grille housing and as everyone knows, a dusty computer looks bad and is bad for components, so I wanted to see what this little thing could do.Let's just say that it blows enough air to charge the capacitors in my LED fans (normally ~1,500 RPM speed) and has them glow at almost 50% brightness just from the air movement alone. It's literally a few flicks of the wrist and the system is cleaned. What of course is behind and stubborn can be wiped away with a cloth and cleaning solution, but for all those vents, heatsink covers, and other hard to reach areas where access is hard or impossible by hand, this blower works great.Tested it on a Kill-A-Watt and it pulls about 550 watts alone - almost as much as a space heater on low settings. It's NOT quiet but that's because it's simply that powerful. I imagine anyone owning a woodshop would find this very useful. It's just too bad that I've not had more uses for it so far. Quality is a solid steel canister with thick cables. It's heavy, solid, and well built and I expect it to easily last the 5 years+ that the motor is warranted for. For previously never being interested in needing to spend cash on a blower like this, Metro has certainly made me happy to own their product. A+.I can't think of anything needing to be blown household-wise where this blower would have no effect. Other reviews are correct - if you have loose papers around this thing, expect them to find the nearest wall pronto as this blower will easily move them. It's not cheap, but you certainly (IMO) get what you pay for. Not used the little accessory tools aside from the one cone-shaped funnel for a little air focus and either with a tool or without, the DataVac works great.

Right out of the box, which was in the Amazon Shipping box, you could tell this thing was going to be heavy duty. The smell was something different to me, not unlike unpacking something that is meant for machining, so I knew what I was holding was as advertised; steel.Everything comes in a box that seems impossible. I don't know how they got all the attachments and documentation as well as this duster in the box, but it was pretty damn tight. Props for utilization of space. So, a quick overview of the item before I go into my feelings.It's steel construction means it's going to be heavy, and also durable.It comes with attachments that are meant to slide on. Only one seems to snap into place, and that piece is meant to be used with an extension "straw" and two attachments that fit on that straw, an angled slotted nozzle for those tight spots, and a nozzle with a brush, just in case you have to sweep some of the dust loose. Good thought. Haven't tried it.The cable is long enough, I guess.It's extremely loud, but not much more than your average vaccuum, I guess.As you expect, it also puts out a lot of air.So my thoughts. First use was really just a test to see if it even turned on, and when I found that it did (I have seen reviews that said theirs came DoA or died after a minute's use) I rounded up a few things to further test upon. My wife's Laptop was the first with the straw and small nozzle attachment, and I was pretty impressed with how much dust this thing managed to both dislodge and toss out of the laptop. I noticed the DataVac getting warm to the touch, so I let it rest for about five minutes, UNPLUGGED. I can't stress this enough; if it gets power, even if it's off, it generates heat. When not in use, it's best to unplug it. Or at least, plug it into a power source you can turn on and off, like it's own surge protector.I suggest it's own surge protector not just for the convenience of keeping it plugged in at your workstation, but also because plugging it into a surge protector that has other things in use (in my case, my computer, monitor, and a radio) I noticed that when going to unplug it, it actually turned my monitor and radio off for a moment. It was very strange, and I didn't like it. This proves that there's unnecessary power draw in the unit, and I'm not sure if it's intentional or not.After about five minutes, I took the window unit A/C's reusable filter outside with the DataVac and tried it again. The results were better than I expected, and with the dust removed cleanly without needing to wash the filter in soap and water (as I used to) I can have my A/C running again in just a few minutes as opposed to a few hours to let the thing dry. I dared to use it on the fins of the unit inside and... I don't suggest it. I mean it REALLY worked, but my god does dust just fly everywhere. It's just... I don't recommend it. Use a vaccuum for that.Next I tried it on my keyboard; noticing it was definitely warm to the touch, had a good experience there. Probably even better if I remove the keys, but a detailed cleaning of my system will have to wait.Total use time has been exactly 5 minutes, so I can't really say much to the durability of the thing, but based on reviews I've read, most of the problem comes from overheating. There's even a note in the manual about this that specifically says to unplug the unit when not in use. Read your manuals people. Even if this thing is expensive, has unusual power draw when the unit is off, and overheats after some use, it is WELL WORTH the money. I've tried every attachment for durability and to see if it stays on the unit, except for the brush nozzle, and it works fine. Only ONE ATTACHMENT IS MEANT TO SNAP IN, and it's for obvious reasons. More air through a small area means more pressure, means the thing can and will fly. That's why that attachment is the only one with a tab to fit the release on. The others simply slide over it (with some effort, I've found...) and twist off; it's really not that hard. The money I'm gonna save on canned air is well worth the price of this DataVac, the only thing I wish though, is that it was a lot less noisy. But what can you do?Edit: Review doesn't really change, but I'm adding to it.I've finally taken the time to exercise this thing to the fullest. I've cleaned out my computer case and parts FULLY (the brush attachment is unsurprisingly ineffectual, probably because it doesn't have the appropriate stiffness, or pliability with the bristles. But this isn't a big deal, this tool isn't meant to be a catch-all duster that instantly makes everything super clean. It's gonna leave a fine layer of dust on whatever you're dusting; if you can't take the time to clean it out the rest of the way, then this is probably enough, but you'll want to stay on top of this.It gets pretty hot here sometimes, so we have a few box fans around the house, and with a dog that sheds her weight in fur every week, these fans get choked. One fan I was sure was useless. I took it outside, I used the duster on it to blow it clear of debris from the motor and blades as best I could and now? It runs like a whole new fan. Same for the newer fan that was getting choked up pretty bad, which cleaned off much easier than the former, and as this is the one that points at me and my wife when we're in bed, this is probably the greatest thing ever.ONE THING I've noticed and I'm sure is a cause for the reason why some people's units burn out so fast, is that this thing intakes air from the bottom and when you're blowing dust into the air, it's gonna suck that dust and debris right up into it's filter, which is thankfully removable, washable, and replacable. I wish they would have gone the route of most computer cases with a sliding removable filter that is meant to be reusable, rather than this... sponge looking thing. This might be easily fixed with a DIY solution, but if you like the item, keep the filter clean. If it has to work harder to get the air, its gonna run hotter and burn out faster.

I was hesitant to give this a shot, but I'm glad I did. This is a good, heavy duty, high powered blower. Nothing more, nothing less. It has an assortment of attachments from tiny to large. There is a locking button that pops up through a hole on some of the attachments (but at least one of the attachments does not have a hole for it to go through - If necessary, fixable with a drill I would think).It is loud. But not annoyingly so. Plus I expected this. And most likely you would not be blowing dust out inside your home (I do it on my deck), so using this outside makes the noise more tolerable. The cord is pretty long though I do have to use an extension for where I need to use it.If I had a complaint it would be that there is no bag/carrying case for everything. No way to keep everything together and keep the cord nice and neat. But functionally, (so far) this is exactly what I needed.I used to buy tons of canned air for doing computer repairs (IT by day and computer repair guy for friends of friends of friends by night). They have a purpose, but cleaning out years of dust from computers is not it. They lose pressure as soon as you start using them. They get cold (and if using it outside in the cold, this is annoying). They are not easily maneuverable without shooting the cold liquid out. And expensive! Not to mention the smell of the ones that are meant to prevent abuse of the product from inhalation. Get some of that in your mouth and you taste it all day! This thing you can twist and turn and use upside down. It has consistent power and way more power than a can of air. Makes the job go much faster.UPDATE: I have now owned this nearly 3 years. It's still going strong. I still swear by it. I use it for all sorts of stuff. All of my previous comments hold true. I have had no issues at all. I still wish it had a storage bag of some kind to keep all the bits together. As it is now, I store it in a bag of other computer repair gear. But occasionally the power button gets hit and when i go to plug it in, it comes on and often will either startle me or the torque of the motor will cause it to fall off of whatever it is sitting on. The only times I use canned air any more are on extremely delicate things or places where I can not easily get power.Still a solid product. Worth every penny. I'd give it more stars if I could.

Update 11/2/2017. If this thing had an hour meter on it, mine would probably be over 100 hours. This is just crazy handy to have around the house. Really want to remove dust bunnies from under the frig and from inside the back where compressor is? This does an amazing job. Hose down your outside windows with your favorite glass cleaner and sponge and use this to blow the water off - barely need to dry with paper towel afterwards. Dust and other crap in nooks and crannies under your car seats where a vacuum nozzle can't reach, this will blow it all out into the open for you. My neighbors borrow it all the time. Really love this thing.This IS more powerful than the compressed air cans I used to buy at the office supply stores and major home/shopping retailers. This isn't even debatable. The comparison isn't even close. This blower will outperform any retail compressed air cleaner out there. And of course unlike those cans, which deliver a stream/blast of air for a second or two before fading off and getting cold, this just keeps going and going. I had no idea a product like this had been around for so long - wish I would have know and bought one years ago. The money I spent over the last 4 years on cans would have paid for this. I was going back and forth between this and a slighly more powerful competitor, also sold here, but decided to not concern myself with any of the negative things posted about this. I could care less that it is loud - so is my hair dryer and vacuum cleaner. I could care less that the housing is a 2 piece design - I felt no air leaking between the housing pieces. This thing will clean your PC better from 1-2 feet away than a spray can will with the straw right on top of every heat sink fin and every other dusty part. One of my favorite purchases ever. I also bought the 7 piece micro vacuum attachment kit (by Schneider Industries). They work well together.

Based on the other reviews here, and the fact that the cans of compressed air are dreadfully expensive and wasteful, I bought one of these devices and used it for the first time a few minutes ago.After first vacuuming my main machine (housed in a server/workstation tower case the size of a dorm fridge) to get the worst of the dust and oose out, and leaving the vacuum on as suggested by other reviewers, I switched on the DataVac Duster.Holy catfish! I'm sure leaving my vacuum turned on made some difference, but not much. The air was instantly filled with dust. The DataVac blasted dust free that the vacuum had never been able to touch (and it's a very good US-made Hoover, does a lovely job on everything else). Even the canned air had never got the CP's cooling fins and fan clean. But they're clean now!The dust went all over the room and had me sneezing my head off. It was annoying, but a small price to pay, and I'm sure the case will never be able to get anywhere near that dusty again.The unit is surprisingly heavy for its size --it's the motor windings, I'm sure. And it is NOISY--my first thought was "small jet engine". The unit seems quite well made (and is US-made!) - thick steel case, sturdy on/off pushbutton, moulded handle, plenty accessory nozzles. Four machine screws hold the case together.One thing to be aware of: the air intake is at the bottom of the unit, and there's a bit of foam in the intake cutout that serves as a filter. It was thick with dust after I finished dusting my system, and I had to take the vacuum to it. The vac didn't do a perfect job of removing the dust (it was *thick*), and I'm thinking I might disassemble the unit and wash the foam to make sure all the dust is out. I'm quite sure it wouldn't be good to have dust be drawn through the filter into the motor. Perhaps on a future rev of this product, Metro might make that filter more easily removable.UPDATE: I tried taking the unit apart to remove the filter but didn't choose to struggle with it once I learned the filter isn't in a frame and I could simply pull it out through the bottom with my fingers instead. And it's a good thing I did: clearly the blower is so powerful that it pulls dust around the edges of the foam as well as through it. So there may be nothing to be done about preserving the motor's full lifespan, it's hard to say. But I washed the foam, and that was a very good idea. Now I'm letting it dry before re-installing it.Suggestion to Metro: include a second foam filter, so that one can be drying whilst the other is in use.

Antes de adquirirlo consulté varias reseñas y en todas se habla bien de éste producto. Esperaba un buen producto, sin embargo me sorprendió la excelente calidad en los materiales y en la pintura del mismo. Mucho más potente (aunque un poco ruidoso) que las latas de aire comprimido. Se siente robusto y resistente. Contiene un kit de accesorios para limpieza de precisión. El único detalle en contra es que puede calentarse un poco después de algunos minutos de uso, pero por la potencia que tiene dudo que se utilice por más de 90 segundos. Es un producto altamente recomendable si eres técnico de computadoras o das mantenimiento a gadgets y equipo electrónico. Si lo adquieres no te arrepentirás, lo recomiendo ampliamente.

More effective than I had expected; great for CPU fans and keyboards providing you use it outside due to the amount of dust etc that enters the atmosphere. It scores over an aerosol based air duster in many ways not least of which there is no risk of liquid coming out of the nozzle.It does get warm in operation, but I have never needed to use it for more than 30sec at a go. Beware the starting torque of the 500W motor can result in you dropping it if you are not gripping the handle tightly.A bit pricey, but then again a good quality canned air duster can set you back £15 and not last very long.
