I have a 5000 sq. ft. space that I simply like to have some simple background sound like elevator music. will these speakers work? I was thinking about purchasing 4 sets.

I have a set mounted in the ceiling of my Den. They are set up as 2nd speakers from a JVC Stereo system. They aren't Bose quality, but for the price they are more than adequate.

Is anything additional needed to mount these speakers?

All you will need is a Phillips screw driver and a box cutter to cut the circle holes in the ceiling and all peicies fur the speaker are in the box. It's a very simple installation me and my father did mine in a few hours.

are the speakers sealed in the back for blown in insulation?

No, they are not in a sealed housing. I have blown insulation in one section where we installed a set and just moved it out of the way. A friend has a set in blown insulation and he fashioned a tube out of cardboard that he inserted through the hole prior to installing the speaker - seems to work for him.

what is the package (box) dimension that is used for shipping?

I no longer have the box that the speakers came in, but I believe that the 9.5 x 8.5 x 9.5 inches ; 5 lbs is the correct size. I hope that this helps.
