Holy Rusted Knobs on an Oldschool Punch 45, This Thing Is Great
I'll start by saying that this amp is awesome. It pushes my two P3D4 12s like no other at 1 ohm. Its wayyyy cheaper here than the regular retail price, and it ships in two days (with prime). I highly doubt you could find a way to dislike this amp if you're building a simple daily driver sound system. I was able to easily hit 150 db at about 30 feet away. Pros: 1. Its powerful. Each amp is tested by Rockford before shipping and they send you the sheet listing it's true RMS at 1 ohm. Mine pushes 1287 watts. SAY WHAT?! 2. Its tiny. I couldn't believe they squeezed 1200 watts out of this petite little thing. 3. I looks cool. Like a big black and silver brick of awesomeness. 4. It comes with an awesome bass equalizer and all the hardware to wire and place it. 5. Its easy to wire. I had my previous amp wired with terminal connectors, but the Rockford requires only that you insert the bare wire into the terminal on the amp and tighten the screws with the provided allen key. I like to try to be a little critical, but it was hard this time. So... The Cons: 1. The "4 gauge" terminals on the amp seem to be a little smaller than my KnuKonceptz 4 gauge wire. I had to trim a little wire off and still struggled to get all of wire in the terminal. (I do not have the same problem with my girlfriend) 2. If you already have wiring terminal connectors on your wiring, you'll need to take it off, which is slightly inconvenient. 3. The light on the equalizer (bass knob) is very, very bright blue, and is almost blinding at night when driving. And, its the EXACT same color as police lights, which caused me a little panic the first few nights of driving with it, as I kept thinking the reflection from the light was a cop trying to pull me over (Trying is the key word). There is no way to turn this off short of unplugging it. 4. It'll leave you wondering what you've been doing with your life (or at least how you've been coping without this thing while driving). 5. It will make your car fall apart. I have a 2006 Honda Accord. This thing makes it vibrate as if it were made of plastic bags (My girlfriend loves it). After having the amp for one day, I ordered 50 sq ft of sound deadening to combat the awful vibrations. So far its working. (She wants to to take the sound deadening out) Great amp, great price, go buy it now.

Amazing value for money on SQ and power!
Really enjoy this amplifier! It’s very powerful and feels extremely well built. I have it powering two 10” Kicker L7 (dual 2 ohm) subs and it’s more than enough power to get them moving. Honestly I can’t turn the gain past 4-5 without overpowering them. The Punch EQ isn’t that great (just turn it off) but other than that I’m pretty happy. Does run pretty hot in the trunk of my car, but my trunk is VERY sealed and I haven’t ran into any issues with it going into protect after hours of heavy use. Only complaint is the adjustments are on the same side as the connections. Also, 4 gauge wiring is the max you can fit, it’s honestly pretty tight and you need to trim so edges off to get it to fit. Update: I ended up replacing the L7’s with Memphis M5 12” subs and wow! Even with the amp being “underpowered” for the subs (400W per speaker when they want 600W rms) the bass is so clean and strong. It literally flexed the roof of my Mercedes S550. Zero distortion, no issues with it going into protect mode, nothing. It’s just a great amp that I recommend to everyone on a budget.

Five Stars
Excellent amp! Massive power in a very small package!... I'm Mike, and I'm a carpenter, not an excellent one like the one that taught me, but a pretty good one. I build multi million dollar houses from the ground up and I love a loud stereo system! So let's assume I understand cubic feet/inches, also basic audio frequency and wattage blah blah, and that air flow/pressure isn't important for sound but that's what sound actually is.... What I can tell everyone here is I have 2 RF 1200W AMP's each bridged to one Pioneer ib flat 3002 12in' 1500W subs (2-12's). I built a box that can almost fit under the backseat of a 2007 F150 ext. cab (supercab) and it perfectly meets pioneers optimum cubic in' enclosure specs. I made it downward facing to create cab emitting audio (the truck is a boom box). Now even for an experienced craftsman this is a difficult task because mistakes are easy to make when one side is notched and the other is sq... Anyways, if you're able to create the optimal enclosure & mount conditions for any reasonably priced Pioneer with similar watt/freq. needs that this amp can fulfill then get ready for blurry back seat faces and itchy noses because everything is going to shake, including your neighbors family photos off their walls. The little system you see in the photos I've provided is able to push out a sound and vibration that will more than astonish you, it will baffle everyone! WOW! Is all I can say, excellent job RF! This amp is mind blowing powerful for it's size (a slave switch would make it perfect).. Even without SS Its a simple diy dual set up. Everyone that gets this amp be sure to purchase subs with similar specs. If you're gonna DIY like I did, be sure to research the subs and build your system accordingly. CUTTING ANY CORNERS ON ANY PART OF YOUR INSTALL WILL MASSIVELY DEPLETE PERFORMANCE!! If you're gonna pay for something nice like this then you need to put in the time to get it done RIGHT! You'll be amazed with the results, If you're not then you set it up wrong.

great performance at reasonable price
This is my first stereo upgrade project. I connected this amp to dual Kicker 40CWRT122 12" CompRT Car Subwoofer a 2ohm out of the amp. It never gets hot installed beneath the drivers seat of my 1996 Chevy Silverado truck. Here are a couple of tips-- You need to get a very good wiring kit for an amp of this power. Don't just look at the gauge of the wiring and think that 4 gauge is going to properly support this amplifier. I ordered one from lightning audio ( Lightning Audio by Rockford Fosgate 4 Gauge Ga Awg Amplifier Installation Wiring Amp Kit ), which is supposed to be a Rockford Fosgate brand. The product description on Amazon doesn't specify this, but the packaging says it's for amps less than 1,000 watts. You're gonna need to spend more than $60 for a wiring kit that will convey the power this amp requires. Rockford Fosgate technicians certify each amp before it's sent out to distributors. Mine was rated at 1390 watts! (see pic of certificate) The bright blue LED on the gain knob is no big deal. A piece of black electrical tape solves the problem. The takeaway I can offer here is that this amplifier is a solid product that provides great sound without clipping no matter how much I turn that knob. I would have installed an all-Rockford system, but they didn't have subwoofers that would fit my enclosure ( ASC Chevy C/K Silverado or GMC Sierra Full Size Extended Cab Truck 1988-1998 Dual 12" Subwoofer Custom Fit Sub Box Speaker Enclosure ).

RF Quality, Small Size, Big Power, Love it!!
I've been a big fan of Rockford Fosgate amps since the late 80's when my brother had six subs all powered by a single Punch 150. These amps have always delivered more than rated and Rockford has been ahead of almost every other manufacturer in terms of technology and engineering. This amp is the most powerful of the "Prime" series, their budged line (called Series 1 back in the day) rated to deliver 1200 watts into a 1 ohm load. Other ratings include: 400 watts RMS into 4 ohms 800 watts RMS into 2 ohms 1200 watts RMS into 1 ohm I have an SMD/D'Amore Engineering Amplifier Dyno AD-1, so I'm able to test and confirm or deny a manufacturers ratings. Although many car audio manufacturers fudge their wattage numbers, companies such as Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio never fail to meet their ratings. Here's what I measured (all taken at 40Hz, wheres many mfg's test at 100Hz, which is not as demanding on the amp): 473w @ 14.42VDC 4 ohms, certified to 1% THD 484w @ 14.4VDC 4 ohms, uncertified to clipping 486 @ 14.34VDC 4 ohms, Dynamic RMS Power 822w @14.3VDC 2 ohms, certified to 1% THD 864w @14.3VDC 2 ohms, uncertified to clipping 891w @14.38VDC 2 ohms, Dynamic RMS Power 1381w @14.23VDC 1 ohm, certified to 1% THD 1392w @14.11VDC 1 ohm, uncertified to clipping 1532w @14.2VDC 1 ohm, Dynamic RMS Power As you can see, the amp surpassed each and every rating, even providing less input voltage and a lower test frequency. The birthsheet included stated 1318w at 1 ohm, 14.4VDC, but did not specify the test frequency. We were spot on this measurement. If you'd like to see the full test of this amp, search the BigDWiz channel on YouTube for Rockford Fosgate Prime 1200.1D Amp Dyno Test

Great amp for price. Like the older model better.
Amp has plenty of power for my 4k watt rms sub believe it or not. Only issue is the bass control knob after 6 months is acting up at the port on the amp. Replaced cable and knob and was okay for a couple weeks and same thing. Basically sound cuts in half. Blame it on vibrations.

The auxiliary bass remote is also very nice and the dial has a notch type of feel ...
I purchased this amp with the intent of getting the punch series instead but was a bit short on cash, however this amp made me think otherwise once it was all hooked up. Out the box its got a really small footprint and has a decent amount of weight to it. I also bought the knuconcepts 4gauge wiring kit along with it and it delivers all the power this amp will need. Its currently powering 2 RF P3 12s with the 2ohm dvc and i have both wired at 2 ohms. This amp has no problem with making these subs move air. Ive had the volume on the head unit up loud without even the slightest hint of distortion. It just delivers extremely poweful and clean bass. The auxiliary bass remote is also very nice and the dial has a notch type of feel to it as opposed to a dial that just slides, you can accurately dial in the amount of gain you want by feeling for the clicks when you turn it. Overall, for this series of rockford amps being the lowest of the group, the prime 1200w delivers power you wouldnt expect from its size. Definitely impressed with the performance and quality of this amp.

BEST AMP EVER
I absolutely positively love this little thing, this amp is rockford fosgate's lowest tier being the prime series but this thing delivers better than you would ever expect it to. the design of it I was kind of disappointed in. For a rockford fosgate amp I would expect the wires to be better managed and hidden, its a looks nice but looks ugly at the same time but that it for the cosmetics of it. Functionality wise and build quality wise this thing is super super small, you can mount it pretty much anywhere(as long as its safe) and it is a full metal build and man for the size this thing packs a serious punch. I am running mines currently at 1300 watts RMS the birth sheet rating it at 1398, and it does not over heat, does not clip it just keeps pounding and with this amp I am running two alpine type R 12's that are rated at 1000 watts RMS each! I have made 2 car alarms go off while going through a parking lot so when I say it packs a punch it really packs a punch. The only design flaws I see is it doesn't have built in fuses on the amp which does worry me slightly and again its not the prettiest especially with the cable management with the wires being exposed like that but its the BEST AMP i have EVER bought.
