What age is appropriate for this microscope?

None. this microsckpe DOES NOT function properly AT ALL. even though, to the naked eye, the specimens we were trying to view through the microscope were passing light through them (a celery leaf and a white thin flower petal), when we looked through the eyepiece it was BLACKED OUT. And yes I was using it properly. not this sellers fault. its the makers of this brand. sorry.

How well can you see small things such as cells? Can you see the processes going on and organelles and such?

This is just to reply to the answer that you need an electron microscope to see other organelles and that's not true at all. There are different staining techniques that let you see a lot more. Look it up! You can get the stains you need here on Amazon and learn how on YouTube

where i can get a user guide?

The listing says 51 piece but the picture says 40 piece, so which is it?

It comes with a couple slides and they are probably counting them separately as well as the other little things that you would think mean one item. The items are very hard to get out of the case and are very poorly made with the exception of the microscope, although mine has a big black thing IN the shaft that I cant get out and blocks some of my view.
