A necessity in the heat
At the moment we've only used this in our smallest room as the hose isn't long enough to vent out of some of our rooms (windows are too high) and I need something to seal off our patio door if I'm to use it in others. But where it has been used this has been excellent, it is a bit noisy but not terrible, just a background drone that's a bit louder than a fan.The room was nice and cool compared to the rest of the house so it did the job perfectly. The hose could probably do with being slightly longer as it really doesn't reach a lot of windows very well but all in all it's a very handy purchase.

Supposed to be quiet, but works well
I bought this in anticipation of a summer working from home and so far there have only been a few hot days to test it with, but there's no messing about - it easily cools down this 12 sq m room and while we haven't had a proper heat wave to test it, I did drive the temperature to a crazy 18 degrees one day just to prove that it works.Needless to say, it cannot cool effectively beyond this room - again only for testing, I tried to cool the landing area but it was hardly noticeable and would be a waste of precious energy. Two unavoidable facts of portable AC:You need to stick a hose out of the window. It's ugly, and the hose isn't long so you need the AC unit almost right next to the window. Unless your window slides up/down leaving a horizontal space, the hose isn't going to fit. I got around this by buying a Hoomee window seal - this stops warm air coming in so less work for the unit. Better for the environment, and believe me you don't want the compressor running more than necessary.Which brings me to the second point, noise. I specifically chose De'Longhi as they were supposed to be the quietest brand and advertise "Silent Technology" on this model. If this is quiet, I dread to think what the others are like. To be sure, nobody should expect these things to be very quiet. However, I found that I couldn't focus in Zoom meetings as I was shouting over the compressor. I got used to it a bit but I had to order noise cancelling headphones (Anker Soundcore Life Q20). Two things De'Longhi could improve on: firstly the plastic casing could have more damping or softening to absorb the noise. Secondly, the fan could be quieter - even when the compressor is off, on its slowest setting, this fan runs fast and noisy. In hindsight I wish I had paid a bit extra for the PAC AN112. At 2-3 dB quieter it would be worth the extra cost. Bear in mind the Decibel scale isn't linear - every time you add 10 dB it will sound twice as loud (one competing manufacturer has a portable unit rated at 65 dB - probably around 3x louder). I did find that placing a clothes airer between me and the AC unit with a blanket draped over it cut the noise down noticeably - if you do this, be very careful not to block any input or output air vents.Controls are very basic but all I wanted was mode, temperature and fan speed so no complaint there. Generally easy to set up and operate, if a bit heavy to bring upstairs and the packaging is well designed so you lift the box off from the top.Overall not a bad purchase, but De'Longhi should not be allowed to use the word "silent" anywhere in their marketing. I wasn't fooled by the hype, but slightly disappointed all the same as I think they could have done more to minimise noise.Edit: after writing the review I found an energy sticker in the packaging. It has a sound icon and the number 64dB. This is far louder than the 50-52 claimed on Amazon. I don't know which is correct, but it's a worry.

Cool, quiet, seems well made.
Brought this to bring the temperature of our bedroom down durning the Summer months. After 20 minutes at 19deg, the room feels cool and comfortable. Unlike a few other budget portable air conditioners this think is remarkably quiet! Not much louder than the fan when the compressor is running. My partner won’t sleep with the noise of a fan so unfortunately can’t leave it on all night. That said the temperature and just as important humidity reduction it brings will be a godsend if we get any more hot nights like we did in 2018.

Disappointing results
Not the miracle cooling machine that I was hoping for. Unit is well made, easy to set-up but the results in my small (16 sq m) were pretty unimpressive. I just don’t think these portable units work at all. Unless you are planning on drilling 15cm holes thru your walls to vent the tube, then whatever cold air it generates will inevitably just escape, even when using the window seal kit that accompanied the unit. The vent tube is not so long and wherever you position it you’ll find it just gets in your way.The quiet mode is so low that it doesn’t make a degree of difference to the room temperature. Full roaring mode will lower the temperature somewhat - but there is no way you could hold a conversation in the same room let alone sleep.Given the choice again I’d get a contractor to quote for a proper wall mounted unit.

A Good Product but be Warned
I received this airconditioning unit a few weeks ago and it has worked well on the hot days that we have had since. Unfortunately, the hard plastic hose provided with it was not long enough to reach the window. When I looked at the user guide, it indicated that the unit is designed to be used with an opening between 35 cm and 100 cm off the floor. This would have meant drilling a hole in the wall or buying a longer hose. I opted for the latter. All of this would have been useful to know before I bought the unit. Instead of talking about practical things like this, the website has information on the so-called "Reel Feel" of the unit, which I really do not care about. It also had a scratch about 2 cm long on the display panel, which was a bit disappointing. Unit works though, so I'm broadly happy with it (if not with the people who sell it).

Down from 29c to 23c
This product is excellent . Took the temperature down from 29c to 23c , after a one hours use .I suppose if you left it on for two hours , it would bring the temperature down to 21c . [ has it set to 18c ]Once you switch it on , you can immediately fell the cold air being pumped out .You will not be disappointed in this product - Which is very simple to operate .
