Brilliant value, sufficient for winter munros in the winter
Plus points- very cheap, and fitted my flexible soled size 10 boots very well (they’re summer boots, really).Minus point- the front teeth are a bit wee (see photo- with example of ‘proper’ winter boots and crampons for comparison). Conclusion: these aren’t a lot of use for ice-climbing, but they’re perfectly sufficient for what I intend to use them for- winter hillwalking in Scotland, covering a lot of miles without rigid soles wrecking my ageing feet. Lack of toe grip will make ascending very steep icy slopes more awkward, but not impossible, and not unsafe (just have to plant feet carefully and use the edges a bit more). I think they’ll be good enough as extra brakes (in addition to my ice axe) for sliding back down on my bum. Caveat to all that: I haven’t given them a full hill test yet.. I’ll go back and amend this review if I’ve got that lot wrong. ‘Mon the snow!!UPDATE: Tested them out on the first winter snows- turned out far better than I’d expected! Great grip on sheet ice and crusted snow. Easy enough using edges ascending steeper slopes. Seem tough enough too: No damage despite 6 hours rough use. So good enough for all but ‘proper’ ice-climbing, I reckon. And it was a gorgeous day, so I’m sticking in a spurious photo (in case anyone reading this doesnae know what a hill looks like) 🏔

Good kit but a little small for large boots.
Seems to be of good construction for the price but the size guide is a bit off. I take a 47 boot and that seemed both too long and too wide to fit in the space given correctly. I'd say it would fit anything up to a 45 well, possibly 46s depending the shape of the boot.4* because I'd definitely be happy with it if my feet were more normal proportions.

Very good crampons
I bought the crampons for grip while metal detecting in the river .I am very pleased with them and now have very good grip on the slippery rocks and mud. When you bolt them together use some thread lock on the Allen key screw .I have used them now every weekend for over over a month and the screw hasn't come loose ,I will definitely buy them again when I need a new pair,

Good grip but very fragile,
I was climbing ben Dorain in December and needed a pair of crampons for the climb. When I got them I thought they were great, they fit my shoes well and were adjustable. Little did I know that the adjustability would spell disaster later on my climb.I was very pleased when I first put them on and was walking with ease across a frozen stream, they were good on rock and grass and reasonably comfortable. On the descent however the metal plate that runs across the bottom bent out of shape and then detached. Leaving me with a crampon that was split in two and was unusable, causing me to trip and stumble. The adjusting plate at the bottom is held in place by a single small screw, this screw had come loose and sheared during the climb and was lost in the grass/rocks. The same thing happened to the other crampon about an hour later. Luckily I had a pair of micro spikes spare in my rucksack in case this happened and was able to get down the mountain.I would recommend buying a more expensive and durable pair of crampons, or if you've already bought them, to re-enforce the adjustable plate with a spot weld, jb weld or a more sturdy bolt.Hopefully this review helps others stay out of trouble in the highlands. Thanks

Worked very well on Ben Nevis - using part flexible boots
These worked very well on an Icey and snowy Ben Nevis recently. My son and i found them to be secure and stable for the two hours we had them on for. We didn't have rigid sole boots, there was a degree of flex in them, and the crampons worked well with this set up. Good value and great for occasional walking use. Not suitable for technical climbing, but just fine for walks.

FLAWED DESIGN - WILL NOT FIT BOOTS CORRECTLY
I'm an engineer and a mountaineer I have a lot of experience using crampons over many years. These Crampons are UNSAFE.They do not fit correctly on boots, so they are insecure and unstable, this is very dangerous, more so than having no crampons at all as it can lead to an unexpected slip, the consequences of which could be fatal. The crux of the problem is that the steel brackets that capture the boot toe and heel, and also have the nylon bails attached, are spaced too far apart (side to side) so that the toe extends too far forwards overhanging the front points, and the heel is not captured side to side at all, which also allows it to lift up.I tried these on my wife's boots UK size 6, and on my UK size 11's and the problem is the same.My advice is NOT to buy, shame because they look reasonably well made for the money.

Excellent fit. Size 13 meindl Bhutan boots
Arrived in sturdy carry bag with Allen key to adjust. Had intended to swap the long and flexible slide out for a more rigid and size 13 long Grivel one (£10 ish on amazon)if needs be. But I haven't bothered as they arrived and on full extention they fit a 49 /uk13 meindl full leather Bhutan winter boot. Only down side is short front teeth but will be perfect for Scotlands hills rather than ice climbing.

Emergency crampons for a straightforward snowy Munro hike
So I’ll start with a bit of honesty… I didn’t set out looking for Amazon crampons. I was preparing my winter bag for a Munro hike and realised I’d broken one of my Grivel crampons and I couldn’t get another pair delivered in time for a planned hike.So I bought these and I wasn’t exactly full of hope given the price. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. It was a simple hike I was taking them on (no scrambling, essentially). But they did the job. Once on, they prevented slipping and I felt confident enough in them for sure. What I would say is that they’re a bit of a faff to get on and off. I took a lot more effort to get the snug fit against my boot that I want. But you can’t complain at the price and they’re still going strong several hikes in.
