Works for 2001 Porsche Boxster S. I had to modify it by cutting off the red plastic with my demel. When I plugged it in to my boxster, the car wasnt unlocking/locking the lock. I used the electronics from the OEM unit and combined with the mechanical portion of this lock. Now everything works perfectly. I watched a youtube video of how to do the mod.

This is, pure and simple, throwing money down the drain. It worked for about a month, and then, suddenly, the door stopped opening—neither from the inside nor from the outside. I went to return it, but the return window had already closed; now, I have to buy another lock and pay for the labor all over again (which doesn't come cheap) to have it replaced.

Works fine, for use on the Boxster you have to trim a little piece of plastic it but it’ll be obvious to do that. Huge savings over OEM.

Lasted less than a year. Worked fine when it did work. It's not the easiest part to change so buy quality and only do it once

Replaced both front door latches on a Cayenne, both worked for less than a month and failed the same way. I cannot open either door and am now stuck figuring out how to cut them out with the doors closed. External construction looked fine and very similar to the original modules but clearly there's something wrong internally.

Bought this for my 2004 V10 Touareg. Worked well for 3 months, but left me unable to unlock or open the drivers door after awhile. Mechanism inside is unsurprisingly mostly plastic. Not sure if the action of the lock motor working or closing the door would cause it, but the pawl for the latch would get jammed in the locked position preventing the door latch from working from inside or out. Pro tip: If you have a similar issue, the one mounting screw for the latch that you can access to from the driver side rear door is right beside the pawl. If you bend a hanger into an "L" you can catch it and knock it back into place to open the door again. The lock and motor worked perfectly fine though, so if you have a good original latch mechanism but need the lock motor only you could take it apart and transfer it over.
