Fun!
We’ve really enjoyed this dartboard! It seems super well made and is very easy to use. You do have to be careful not to hit the screen though because if you throw it hard enough it can punch through. We’re gonna do like another reviewer did and hang some plexiglass or something in front of that part to keep it safe.

Great dart board!
We have had this dart board for 2 months and have used it often and loved it! I did protect the LED screen before we started using it. I purchased some small Command strip clips, see photo. I also purchased a Clear Polycarbonate Plastic Sheet (0.0625x12x18 inches). I cut it in half using a scissors. It takes time but can be done. We drilled 2 holes so we could place it in the clips. Works great!

You will need to protect the display!
Okay, so this dartboard is pretty cool and a lot of fun but there's a couple issues. First one being my son cracked the 2nd player display immediately. He's a young kid but it didn't take long for a dart to punch through. I put some tape over it and called it good. The next day my son's friend hit the restart button so hard with a dart that it got stuck pressed in and I had to remove the back to push it back. Point being, YOU NEED TO COVER THE DISPLAY WITH SOMETHING, I used plexi glass. It's easy enough to hang a piece through the mounting holes as shown. This will protect the display. The back pieces are just 4 pieces of walmart foam board taped together with duct tape on the backside and hung on the wall on the two screws that you hang the dartboard on. Two screws, on one stud and the dart board hangs nicely, one screw directly above the other, one behind the 20 number on the dart board and the other behind the 3. Where the 4 pieces of foam board intersect is where I pushed it onto the screw, works great. Also have to be careful if deciding to take the screws off the back to remove the mesh grille holding in the sections. It's a pain but is doable if you have to remove broken tips. It only happened once so far. Pay attention to how the center bullseye pieces are oriented and don't mess with the electronic sensor mats. Anyway, dartboard is a lot of fun and I got real good.

The 850 Is A Worthy Upgrade Over The Viper 777 Board . . .
I purchased the Viper 850 as a replacement for my Viper 777. I had the 777 for less than a year, but was pretty hard on that board, to include throwing the darts too hard and using a tool incorrectly to remove broken tips from the board. The tool punched the tips through the board to the back, in between the sensor and the part where the darts “stick” after being thrown. Eventually, the sensors stopped working properly and I decided it was time for a new, hopefully better, board. This review will focus largely as a comparison between the 850 and the 777, which I hope you will find useful in determining which dart board you will ultimately end up buying, even if it is not the 850 (or the 777, for that matter). After much research, I ultimately decided to purchase the Viper 850. My reasons for choosing this board were mainly threefold: 1) It has a much better scoreboard than the 777 – You can see 4 player scores at once, instead of just 2, like with the 777. This appealed to me greatly as I often have visitors over to play darts with me. 2) It has segments made of “High Grade Nylon” instead of just plastic, like the 777. I’m hoping that this means it will last longer and be more resistant to tips getting broken off after hard throws. I have trained myself not to throw so hard (NOTE: It even says in the manual not to throw with “excessive force”), and I don’t break tips nearly as often as I once did. However, I still have some friends that get a little overzealous and throw like they are a Major League Baseball pitcher, trying to hurl 106 Mph fastballs down the middle for strikes (Bullseyes). 3) It comes with an AC adapter and doesn’t require batteries, unlike the 777 board did. I think you can purchase an AC adapter for the 777 board (Maybe?) but this one comes with one automatically, unlike the 777 board, and that was a big plus for me. However, if you don’t have access to power, this may actually be a con for you and you may prefer a board that can operate off of batteries instead. 4) Bonus reason: Because I bought another VIPER board, the holes for installation were exactly the same, so installation of the new board where the old board used to be was very easy. The price of the board helped, but there are competing boards that sell for the same price, which made the price a bit of a wash, to me anyway. I’ve had the board now for a week and this is what I like and don’t like about the board thus far . . . Pros: At first, I couldn’t tell the difference between the “High Grade Nylon” of the 850 as compared to the plastic of the 777. However, now that I’ve been throwing on it for a week (every day), I can tell the difference and I definitely like the 850 better. The Scoreboard is a definite improvement over the 777 and I really like it a lot. It’s easier to see and it displays more player scores at one time (4 vice 2). Maneuvering through the game menus is improved over the 777, too. With the 777 board, it wasn’t as intuitive for setting up games with certain attributes, most notably, the Double Bull option of the ’01 and Cricket games. In the league that I’m in, both Bulls Eye Rings count for 50 points for ’01, but not for Cricket. You can set the 777 up to do that, but it’s not as easy to figure out. The 850 takes the guess work out of it and makes it easy to configure the game to count the Bulls Eye for 50/50 or 25/50 (outer ring/inner dot). Although I haven’t tried using it yet, the 850 also allows for setting up handicaps and saving games, too. I don’t believe the 777 has that feature built in to it. So that’s nice for stat heads, if you’re into that. Also, on the note of stats, at the end of the game, the board will tell you your stats for the match, I.E. Points Per Dart (PPD) for an ’01 game or Marks Per Round (MPR) for Cricket. For guys like me that are in a league, those are nice little bonus points in favor of the 850 board over the 777 board, which didn’t do that for me. Cons: Bounce outs occur more often than I would have expected. Now, the “spider web” that divides the segments is a bit on the wide side, which may contribute to some of the bounce outs. Also, “Robin Hood” darts, I.E. hitting one dart with another dart, are not the fault of the board, in my opinion. Still, I’ve watched darts hit the board and bounce out a bit more than I would have expected. Another factor with this is maybe I’m actually throwing too softly now? If that’s possible…? I do that because of the high rate at which I used to break tips AND because my arm was getting sore from throwing darts ‘cause I was throwing too hard before. So with this, your mileage may vary, depending on your own , personal throwing style. Right now, that’s really the only con for the board that I have. Aside from that, I’m extremely happy with this purchase and glad that I upgraded from the 777 to the 850. I have included photos and a short video. The video is a short example of how the board operates for setting up a standard Cricket game. There’s also a Quick Cricket button that you can push and you don’t have to navigate through all the menu items, but I felt that showing how to set up a Cricket game would be the most beneficial for a quick video. Hopefully it helps with your buying decision. With that being said, if I could give the board 4.5/5 stars, I would. I would take off .5 stars for the bounce outs, but not a full star since there are too many variables to consider, and some of those variables are probably not the fault of the board. However, since I can’t choose 4.5 stars, I will give it 4/5 for the sake of the Amazon Rating system. On a side note: I also purchased the Viper Shadow Buster Dartboard Mounted Display Light and installed it over the new board and will be reviewing it here on Amazon, too. The light helps a lot in my Man Cave (Garage) for seeing the board and throwing darts once the sun goes down.

Please read before you buy.
Wow. Disappointed is an understatement. Reviews should be posted after 3 months of ownership. I purchased 2 of these boards, one for my 34 year old as a gift. Removing the darts has become painful to say the least. We have twisted clockwise, gently tugged, etc. it doesn't work but half the time. Changed tips. Etc. We were gone all winter and didn't use the board. It has 3 months of use by two 70 year olds. I cannot recommend this product. Such a disappointment.

Amazing product and customer service
Not only is this a great dart board but the GLD customer service is absolutely outstanding!!!! I bought my board back in July, but in the recent months the board has developed “dead spots”. I contacted GLD support and was responded to in less than 24 hours. After sending proof of purchase and a video of what it doing, customer service told me they were sending me a new board at no cost. I can’t say enough about how grateful I am for GLD and the amazing customer service they have provided. I would highly recommend this board for any beginner or intermediate player.

La diana bien el embalaje una basura
La diana perfecta pero el embalaje una basura. Venía en la caja original rematada con celo en los bordes sin caja exterior para protegerla.
