Review: Best Quality Kitten Food I Could Find - Wellness Core Kitten Wet Food: Turkey and Chicken Liver This is the best quality kitten food I could find. I did a lot of research and from the available foods I found, this is the best diet I could find without going 'raw' or making my own. While 'raw' diets are supposed to be more nutritionally natural for a cat, there is the possibility of salmonella as well as a lot more work involved with refrigerating it, portioning it, and heating it. For the convenience of having portioned and fully cooked cans of food, I'll deal with the potential 'lesser' quality of this food. I can also order it from desertcart and have it delivered to my door. This food does have 'chicken meal' which isn't something you necessarily want, but it's pretty far down the list of ingredients, so I'm not too worried about it. It also has cranberries, which are supposedly included for urinary tract health. I read that this isn't necessary for cats. I don't know for sure, so I'll mention it and not comment. This is fairly expensive food. It's currently $21.48 for 12 cans (3oz.). That's 1.79/can or 0.60c/oz. or 9.55/lb. Take that into consideration when buying. Around here, that's more per pound than about any good meat I could get for myself from a grocery store. The Wellness complete line is almost as good and is a decent amount cheaper, though still more expensive than something similar wet foods you might be more familiar with. In the end, I'm just buying it because it's the best I could find and I can afford it with my one kitten. I feed her (1) can in the mornings and supplement with the recommended amount of the complementary dry food of the same line. We had a cat growing up who subsisted on low end dry food, then was on Royal Canin S/O for urinary tract issues for the rest of his life. He only got the occasional pack of wet food or snack in the kitchen and he was healthy and trim till he died of old age at 16yrs. It'll be up to you to decide if the price is worth it, but I believe the quality is definitely there if you decide it is. Just as an extra note, my kitten was found abandoned at 2 weeks. I got her at 5 weeks and she'd been fed adult wet food. I switched her to wellness complete kitten pate and was feeding her two cans a day. I wanted to supplement with dry food because they said you're supposed to free feed till they're 1yrs old for growth. She didn't even realize it was edible at first and I'd sprinkle some over her wet food. She started eating it, (Royal Canin Kitten at the time) and developed a preference for it. She'd eat it all and have wet food going bad in the bowl. Then when I realized the Royal Canin wasn't that quality, I switched her over to Wellness Core Kitten Dry, along with the wet. She didn't like it nearly as good. I assume there is some kind of flavor sprayed on the Royal Canin to make it taste good to them and Wellness doesn't do that. She now eats all of her wet and won't touch her dry till I sprinkle just a little of the royal canin on top and mix it in. Kitten will develop preferences and like stuff that isn't good for them. Their diet will change based on those preferences. Just something else to keep in mind while planning what to get them. I can afford to buy the more expensive stuff, because instead of feeding multiple cans of wet per day, I feed one can and supplement with dry. They have feeding instructions based on this as well.
Review: Great For Older Cats Who Need to Put On Weight - My senior very small cat was really thin. She’s small, so you can imagine how concerned I was when she lost a pound. She was roughly 7 lbs and she had been a little over 8! Her vet said to feed her 1/2 a can on top of her dry but switch to KITTEN food so she would receive more nutrition and GAIN WEIGHT. I had never given her wet food with the exception of giving her meds. This was rare, so I wasn’t concerned about Core. She was already on Wellness Core regular Cat food. So I switched her adult dry to the kitten version. Since I’ve changed her diet, she’s gained weight, is healthier and happier! This pate is easy to serve, it doesn’t stink, she loves the taste, the ingredients provide the proper nutrition the size is perfect. I can’t say enough positive this about the Wellness Kitten Pate! She loves different flavors of Wellness Core. I’m happier because I’m no longer worried about her health.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great food but ...
*by #***E on December 25, 2022*

A couple of times the kitten got a case of loose stool following eating a tablespoon of this food in warm water before bed. She weighed a few pounds at the time. She eats the other Wellness wet chicken food and dry, as well, with no problems. This variety didn't agree. There are still cans left so I'm waiting a few months until she's bigger and sees if this helps her digest it better. I've used Wellness for older cats and for large breed dogs for years. Though one option of dried chicken didn't work for one of the cats the indoor variety does. I do not believe when a food doesn't agree with a cat that it makes the brand or variety a one-star food. Especially when the brand has provided a lot of quality of life to the animals. A kitten growing up want her to have plenty of nutrition. Especially after being rescued and having been sickly for the first two months of life. So far this brand has poofed the little nugget out really well. She's a robust healthy playful happy buddy to her friends and humans. I recommend this brand for pets. The older cats had no issue cleaning up the food the little nugget left in the bowl and neither got sick. This is why I think it's unique to the little one. Almost forgot, the kitten eats the dry Core kitten food and has zero issues. Just this variety of wet a few times.
