I got the size 5 about 10 years ago and the size 5 that I just recieved fits the same on my belgian malinois.

They are not very sturdy and the sizes are not true.

I hate the fact that I had to buy this product, but I'm happy with it.My 5-year-old Akita-husky mix has always been great with other dogs. A bit too playful, if anything, but never aggressive. That was, until a month ago when he attacked a little Shih tzu entirely unprovoked. The little dog survived, but had to have over 100 stitches. Needless to say, my bad boy is no longer allowed out of the house (other than the fenced in backyard) without a muzzle.I measured his snout and, based on the manufacturer's notes and reviews that I had read, decided this was the correct size for him. It fits a bit loosely over his snout, but I think that's intended, so that he can open his mouth to pant. He tries to get the muzzle off with his paws, but so far hasn't succeeded. The straps do work loose over time, so I always check the fit before we leave the house.As I said at the outset, I hate the fact that he has to wear a muzzle; but I can't afford (monetarily or psychologically) for him to attack another dog.

The correct size will keep my dog from eating dates on our walks.

I read so many reviews and visited several websites to find the correct size of this muzzle , but none of them gave me the correct idea about sizing. So, I ended up getting size 7 for my 60 pounds Staffie/Pit . It was away too big! On the description says that size7 is for 9 1/2. I measured my dog below his eyes . Wrong! it seems like I should have measured the tip of his mouth. I put some pics so you can see the correct measurement of size7.Also the picture of the sizing table available on the back of the package, which it seems pretty obvious that a seller would add to the selling page , but the don't!The muzzle itself seems to have nice quality padded on the nose area - I didn't use it because will exchange to a smaller size.

The actual sizes need to be posted on the site. I guessed at a 7 because the one I had from 12 yrs ago was a six and too small for a weimaraner. The seven is too big so now I have to order a 6 and I'm not sure it will work either. I did the measurement thing and still not true to size. My measurement was 11 below the eyes and 10 at the end of the nose. Size chart says size 7 fits 9 !/2. The mesh area is too large. I will try the size 6 next but I have my doubts. Size 6 is recommended for a weim so maybe you should go by the dog recommendation and not the inch measurements. If it had the mesh covering the end also, it would work fine. I need something to keep dogs from eating bark chips as it rot their teeth.

I hate putting this on my best friend but he suffers anxiety if I'm not home and a few times I came home to things being chewed to bits. One of the first times it was on Hat, he chewed the edge of a book but no big deal. He hasn't chewed anything since and it's funny, now when I come in from work, he'll bump my hand with his nose to let me know he wants it off *NOW*.Be aware that there are sizes available you may not see. I looked and looked and didn't find one for a Doberman so I ordered one for a German Sheppard. A week or so later I saw one for a Doberman. So, I have no idea if the fit is right (I've not had a dog that needed a muzzle before). Get the right one. (and before you freak out, he can breathe and drink water).

I bought this muzzle to keep my giant dog from killing my tiny dog. This isn't a constant problem, but becomes one when stress is introduced (usually strangers in the house). My giant dog doesn't seem to mind wearing this muzzle at all. I ordered it a little big (I got the 7.5, he probably is more of a 7). He can still eat, drink, and nip with it on, but he can't open his giant mount and and clamp around my little dogs entire head, throat, or body. I like that my dog is willing to wear this muzzle and it provides safety for others during stressful times. Our new goal is to use this muzzle to comfortably socialize him better. I was a little apprehensive about buying a muzzle, but this muzzle is not too tight or constrictive and is, surprisingly, allowing my dog more freedom.
