Very Real
The acting is superb in this film. I would say this is on the same level as "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". I laughed, cried, and made Mac n Cheese!

Moving Story
Well-done movie about a bright autistic boy who loses his mom and deals with the adjustment to life without her while his dad tries to be both father and mother. The dad fights the usual battles in the educational system, tries to keep his son at home, finally loses his job, his health benefits, etc., and puts the boy into a treatment facility. When the boy runs away, it wakes the dad up to what's happening to his son, and he finally returns his boy to their home, making him his priority. This portrays what parents of special needs children go through in trying to be both parent and advocate for their children. Touching story. Enjoyed the shocking twist inserted at the end of the movie.

Great movie
I was recommended this movie for so long and I finally rented it. It was emotional yet inspiring. My son is on spectrum and we enjoyed it as a family. Its a great way to see other aspects of ASD and how every one is completely different. Great actors.

Realistic and Educating (And an aside in reaction to Liz. B's review)
I found this touching and incredibly accurate. It is important to introduce the subject of Autism to the general public in all forms. As guardians of Autistic children or adults know, there is a broad spectrum of behavioral, social, and mental challenges. Seeing the struggles of an extreme end of that spectrum was both compelling and integral to the film's importance. This is a poignant and important view that I would recommend to anyone with or without autism in their lives. To Liz B., not everyone can sympathize or appreciate the importance of a film like this or what it must be like to experience it as a parent, but most can be honest without being brutal or crass. Your response is irresponsible as a critic and as a human and shows an unfortunately relentless ignorance of respect for those not only dealing with but handling life as it comes. I am not an advocate for lack of choice, nor am I one to force opinion on anyone whether they decide to keep a child or not, but I am an advocate for empathy and the thing that divides us from animals: humanity. It is truly sad that there are still people who reveal such cruelty and inhumanity when confronted with issues beyond their reach.
