There is much to learn from the book even if you have a background in women's studies.

A Brillant and stunning work of Sheila Jeffreys, questioning the core of 'sex/gender difference' under the patriarchy. You would find every answer to what you feel wrong about the world and society for all the time. To me, I would say it is a modern feminist bible.

this is a horrible book. i should neverhave bought it. the chapters on trans sexuality are so bigoted that any positive feminist statements in other chapters become irrelevant. leave this dinosaur on the shelf DO NOT BUY.

Even if you don’t agree with everything in this book it is a very well researched and important viewpoint that certainly made me question my own choices and attitudes. It opened my mind to think more deeply about the root causes of issues escalating in today’s culture.

This is an eye-opening book that really makes you see western beauty practices for what they are, I don't think I will ever see these things the same way as before

This is one of the best books I've ever read!Classifying "cosmetic" surgery as mutilation etc. etc. - radical, REAL feminism at its best!
