Sax1299777 True Flow Water Soluble Block Printing Ink - 16 Ounces - Black

This was my first experience using a Sax brand ink and I'm totally sold on it. It's some of the thickest and stickiest ink I've ever used. It has the consistency of gearbox grease or hardening tar. I quickly realized that it was quick setting, so a little ink retardant was a must. The ink rolls out nicely and is very tacky. It covers thoroughly and evenly with little effort. Plus, this much quality ink at this low price is a no brainer. Going forward, this will be my go-to ink for monochromatic prints. I will definitely recommend this to my fellow artisans.

This ink isn't too runny or too thick. I've seen some inks that are sticky and globby but this is not either of those things. Don't have a bad smell and rinses off very easily. I used it for hand palm prints and thumb prints.

I am just starting block printing so I do not know what a expensive ink would be like. I have a couple mid priced inks that I can compare with that I have used. This is pretty thick, almost sticky. It rolls out nicely and onto the block nicely as well. At little goes a long way. When it dries it's a flat black and feels rough. The other inks I have also dry flat but feel a little smoother when they dry, they also seem a little thinner and I feel like I need a little more. For practice you cannot beat the price, I wouldn't go as far to say this is great quality ink, but then again I don't exactly know what great ink would be like (yet...).

Really liked this ink. I haven't done block printing in forever - and purchased this. Needed mixing upon arrival - but so does most paint. Mixed it and came out the perfect consistency. Thick - but not too thick. Rolled evenly and print quality was excellent. Just purchased some more colors from this same brand as I was really surprised at how well it worked. Fast drying time too!

This ink is easy to work with. A little goes a long way, and makes a nice solid print.

Good consistency and coverage, easy cleanup with no solvents.

I used this for printmaking in my elementary classroom. While the color is nice and dark, it dries rather quickly. That can make it tough for younger students who don’t roll and stamp as quickly to get a nice clear print. I do like that it cleans up very easily, being water-based.
