Performed Very Well
I wanted an immersion blender to smooth moles. I tried it out making pineapple jalepeno jam. It made a 5-lb (2 quarts cut up) pineapple into fine puree in a matter of minutes. There was no splashing and plenty of power. The top comes off so you can store it in a drawer. Cleans easily. If you're looking for a high quality immersion blender you ought to consider this model. I'm delighted that I made this purchase.

This is the one to buy - top quality at a good price
Excellent stick blender at a good price. It's a quality product, very well made, is fantastic for pureeing soups/etc, and with reasonable care it should last many many years (I've had one for years, this purchase is for my son). Also very easy o clean.

Better than my old blender
My old blender was designed just like this but was an off brand. The speed dial, in my opinion, didn't seem to do much. I watched someone's video showing that changing the dial actually does raise or lower the speed on the Braun so I decided to order it. This blender has been amazing! I make an eggnog latte every morning and this is my go-to gadget. Besides the dial speed that actually works and reduces splatter, it's also easier to clean. My old one had a really deep cavity where the blades are and it was harder to clean. I was always poking myself trying to get in there and remove the residue. Braun was smart enough to put in a plastic barrier that keeps the ingredients from getting very deep in that blending head so it's very easy to rinse and wash with a sponge (or whatever). The Turbo speed seems to get much higher than turning the dial all the way up. So if you need a higher speed, then you have the ability to use this feature. For me, since the dial can turn it way down while still blending my ingredients, I have little to no splatter on my kitchen counter. This used to be a problem with my old blender. Hoping it lasts as long as my first blender which was also by Braun. Lasted for a couple of decades, I think. Overall, I recommend this unit!

Lives Up To The Hype
Like a lot of people, I bought this because the NYT Wirecutter recommended it as the best immersion blender out there. I like that it has variable speeds, and quick access to full power with a separate button so you don't need to try to turn the speed dial while it is running. It is a very ergonomic design, easy to hold and control, and it seems to have plenty of power. I decided that ultimately, I like that the little hood that covers the blade doesn't have any gaps or holes in it. To be clear, that design choice is somewhat of a mixed bag. Some other immersion blenders have gaps or perforations in the hood to help circulate the material better, but at greater risk of splashing. The main downside of this closed hood design is when you want to whip air into eggs or whatever, it requires pulling the head almost entirely out of what you are mixing, repeatedly. Not a big deal, and I think that, overall, it is more important to keep stuff from splashing vs. the incremental benefits of slots in the hood, but it is a noticeable change from how my last hand blender worked. Cleaning it is easy. I hand wash the beater but the instructions say you can theoretically throw it in the dishwasher. I bought the basic one without all the attachments. I also bought a separate, metal milkshake cup, which I use with this constantly for everything, not just milkshakes. They give you a thin, plastic mixing cup, but I learned the hard way that even very solid glassware is really not up for being used with a hand blender. You can get away with it for a while, but it puts absurd stress on the glass. So I don't expect the thin plastic cup to fare much better. Do yourself a favor and get a metal milkshake cup to use with this if you don't already have one, they are cheap, oversized, indestructible and make using a hand blender so much easier.

Works very well
I have tried many of the cheaper hand blenders and they all start out doing well and them the motor dies within 6 months or so. This wasn't much more than those "bargain" models and is so much better! It feels more substantial and does a much better job at blending. The feel is good--the handle is easy to grasp and the buttons are well-placed and easy to depress. The two pieces come apart easily and the bottom can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The bell-shaped bottom is very effective in blending more fully. I always had trouble with the others in getting the ingredients near the top to blend with the rest but you can actually see this pulling the ingredients downward to blend better. Yes, it was more expensive than some others (not by much) but I would never go back to one of those, due to durability and blending issues. Would definitely recommend this product.

Works terrifically
Feels like a solid durable tool. I use it to puree things. It does not get overheated. I grabbed it when I made mashed potatoes but it made it kind of pasty...it was funny. Worth the price. It fits nicely in your hand and the buttons' location make it easy to use. It comes apart easily too so it is easy to wash. Blades are strong and sharp. My dog had 4 of his back teeth removed so he had to eat soft food. I used this to make it easier for him to eat his stew dog food.

Great Blender! Powerful yet Quiet
I love this immersion blender. It is more powerful than a regular hand mixer. It's big, but the blender blade arm is detachable and washable. It is relatively quiet for its size. I bought an Amazon return item that was scored as 'Excellent' condition and it is in EXCELLENT [meaning brand new] condition. All pieces in the box were in the original wrapping and the cord was still in the original twist-tie. The box looked a bit worn. I couldn't be happier with this Braun Immersion Blender and with the 25% off from Amazon b/c it was a 'Returned' item. Tip: If this is your first Immersion Blender, and you use it to mash cooked vegetables in a pot, resist the urge to press the blender down to the bottom of the pan. If you do, chances are you will clog the blender head. The blades will still turn, but the head will not chop up the veg as fast as if you take it slow and don't proceed to the next spot until you feel or hear the unit operating freely. Then move to your next blending spot in the pan.
