BAYCOSL-100-6 Replacement Metal Incandescent Bulb Guard

These seem to be built to last, worth every red cent!

The bulb guard on my classic Craftsman trouble light broke at its base after over 20 years of use and abuse. This part was a direct fit and seems a bit more robust. So happy.

It's pretty good. I like the cage that snaps into two holes, instead of snapping around a fold of metal on the outside. The outside closure was easily bent and opened. This is the opposite -- it takes two hands to open (it is very snug), but how often do you need to open the cage?I deducted one star because the metal ring that holds this onto the light is a little flimsy. I wish it were more substantial. You get two washers, make sure you put one one the screw and one on the nut, otherwise I think you could tighten this enough to tear the bolt through the holes.

This item is vary nice easy to install all u need is a Phillip screwdriver and a 7mm wrench nice price it's 3.00 dollars free s.h but one thing it's a add on item u have to spend over 25.00 dollers this bulb gaurd will work with any drop lite it works for mine vary nicely well made installs in seconds just on screw the screw and nut take off the to washers pull the metal band apart a little fit it a round the lite base put one washer on the screw slide it in the holes in metal neck band put the other washer on and nut and tighten it up thank u

I bought this to replace the plastic bulb guard on my droplight. Installation was quick and simple. However, this is made of thin sheet metal and gets very hot, very quickly. Additionally, area that the bulb sits in could be 1 or 2 inches deeper. There is not enough area around the bulb. The bulb (mine is a standard 60 watt incandescent bulb), is very close to the rear face of the sheet metal. Not good!!. Very hot and I will not be able to use a larger bulb.

There was nothing wrong with the socket and cord of my trouble light. But the cage part must have been really crappy plastic and fell apart. I removed what was left of it and put this one on. Glad to have a fix and not waste the cord and socket.
