Fine Art Publicity: The Complete Guide for Galleries and Artists

Slightly dated but still worthwhile
It seems, at first reading, remedial. But upon repeated careful reading I did glean several new ideas (and I've been marketing my work for a decade). Publicity is hard work. It takes a ton of time, writing press releases, blogging, etc. But I recently made a big push and its paid off hugely. I think the ideas in this book are worth it. Don't gloss it. Outline it. Practice it. This and Carol Michell's book have been motivating, even for an old hand.

Amazon badly described this book
"Excerpt - Page 78: "... Site [...] MARCO SASSONE to the Marco Sassone wcbsite ..." I bought this book solely because the above description implied the book contained information about Marco Sassone. IT DOES NOT! Other than a photo of the home page of his Web site on page 78 and a three sentence review on the back cover that Marco wrote about this book, there is absolutely nothing anywhere else in the book about Marco Sassone or his paintings. As a collector of information about his paintings, this book is useless to me,folklib net / sassone (insert a "." and remove the spaces)Somebody made a buck off me due to false advertising.

Three Stars
Not what author implied. Could have been much more specific to the art industry. Sorry, information was too general.

Very Helpful
Fine Art Publicity has some very good ideas about marketing and publicity. We just opened an art gallery, and have already had a few articles published in local newspapers thanks to the suggestions in this book.

Easy to understand book
I write as an artist with no experience or knowledge of PR. I found this book easy to read and follow - and mostly very relevant to artists not just galleries. I would highly recommend this book to any artist who wants to gain an overview of the PR field for art.

This book is a very good tool to anyone who wants to run an art gallery. I recommend it to improve relations with the press. You will find models, templates, as well as many examples, which is welcoming for someone who does not speak English as their first language. As a millennial, I wanted to have more tips on how to use social networks. Otherwise, I found it very useful.
