Good idea, poor execution
I purchased this from a B & M store and mounted it to my Ariens snowblower. First winter storm we had the salt barley trickled out. Come to find out that the instructions suggest using a "non-salt" based melting agent. So forget about using the normal snowmelt (salt) that you normally use on your driveway. The salt I used was no larger than 1/8" in diameter and it would not come out. They say the engine vibrations will help the salt out, but no luck in my case. The other wonderful aspect of this system is how it mounts. The clamp that attaches to the "crossbar" on your handle bars requires 2 sandpaper "stickers" to be placed in the clamp. You then bolt those clamps on with 2 bolts that are included. So, the sandpaper grabs into the paint to prevent the unit from spinning lose when salt is added to the hopper. Essentially, the clamp scratches up your nice paint job to stay put. There should be a better system than scratching up the paint on my new snow blower. Perhaps some sort of rubber would do that job without harming the paint. After monkeying with this unit I returned it. Ariens makes awesome snowblowers, but this MeltBuddy system is a joke. If you want to use expensive specialized salt with it, and don't mind scratching up your paint on your snowblower, go for it.

pay attention to people who learn from experience! people and products are not all that perfect!
Don't like it at all! the price also is out of line ! frozen after two seasons requires special products non salt products! otherwise the material its made from becomes inoperative must be sprayed after use with a spray with lubrication property's!
