I am a former EMT and Combat Medic; I keep well stocked emergency kits in my automobile, home, and workshop. CELOX is an essential component to them and must be replaced every few years to ensure freshness. A small price to pay for life-saving equipment if needed!

This product is perfect for deep-puncture arterial bleeds from any mechanism of injury, when standard, direct-pressure, bleed-stanching techniques are inadequate. Carry this product on your person in a place not likely to sustain damage from impact or repetitive friction abrasion. It's vacuum sealed in moisture-resistant packaging, so don't worry about rain or body vapor damaging it.This product is like a tourniquet; you may never need it. But if you carry a gun, you have an obligation to reasonably defend it rather than relinquish it as the victim of a crime. This posture significantly increases your chances of being a gun crime victim, and hence, of being shot as a result. Yep, get the big one, because the exit wounds from high-velocity hollow point bullets can be horrendous, and close-range shotgun blasts speak for themselves. If it's too inconvenient to carry this much gear, you shouldn't be carrying a gun in the first place. Let someone who's up to the responsibilities of the task do it instead.

I luckily never had a chance to test these out. I bought a set of chest vent seals to go along with this kit. I would still recommend carrying at least one tourniquet if not two with you in case you have to use this item.

It is a resilient package, and it travels with me regularly.

So I used to be a medical sales rep and we sold a product like this called floseal. Its collagen derived granules and topical thrombin. It is placed on the tissue at the base of the wound. Blood then percolates thru the granules and is exposed to high levels of thrombin. Thrombin converts the fibrinogen into a fibrin polymer which then forms a clot around the mechanically stable matrix provided by the granules. In the operating room the excess granules are gently irrigated away. It is resorbed by the body within 6-8 weeks,...normal wound heal time. This works in a similar fashion, except rather than using thrombin (Bovine derived) it uses a finely ground sea shell. The only difference I can see, is that this requires you to use pressure after applying.

I really like the packaging of this. I comes in a bright red package and is easily found in my first aide kit. It is ulta light and takes up little room. It is exactly what is advertised.

This is the real deal. Mine came in a red package of that really matters to you.

I store this celox applicator in a duty bag and have yet to use it. I was changing out medical supplies In my bag and pulled out the unopened celox applicator. I could heard powder shaking around in the sealed package, when I opened the package to check. The end of the applicator cap was off and the celox powder granules were all over the bag, making the supplies useless. The applicator had no granules in it when opened. Be care when storing this even in a sealed package the cape may come undone..
