Japanese Trapdoor Snails would make a great addition to large fish tanks or outdoor ponds in your home garden. They are a peaceful snail that is great at knocking back and managing pesky algae growth. They get their name for their hard operculum, or "trapdoor" that protects their body when retracted. They are compatible with most fish, plants, and other inverts due to their size and peaceful demeanor. Trapdoor snails are also livebearing snails, which means they reproduce at a fairly rapid rate. You will likely even see babies in the bag when you receive your order! Trapdoor snails are highly flexible in their water conditions and are capable of surviving freezeovers, making them perfect for your outdoor ponds all year around! DOA POLICY -PLEASE READ IN FULL BEFORE PURCHASING: If you encounter any issues with the animals upon arrival, please email us with photos and/or video of the issue and a brief explanation (what animals are having difficulty, what the symptoms are, and any other information you may deem noteworthy). In the case of partial DOA, please count the LIVING animals before you email us. In certain cases, we send extras (i.e. Neocaridina shrimp) - so even if you have 1 or 2 DOA, you will often still receive what you paid for. *****This email needs to be received within 2 hours of delivery according to the shipper's tracking information.***** If these terms are met, we will either issue a refund or send replacements. Whether you receive a refund or replacements will be dependent on a number of factors, and decisions will be made BY US on a case by case basis. In some cases, it is not feasible to send replacements (i.e. if the value of the dead animals is less than the cost of shipping).

Every One Survived!!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I was skeptical when I ordered these snails but every one lived and within about 45 minutes they were all active and moving about, instant housekeeping!! My tracking number was useless, this would be my only thumbs down. I ordered on a Wednesday and the mailman was ringing my Ring doorbell first thing Friday morning. Being that I wasn’t expecting the delivery I had to leave work and go get the snails from the post office. I can deal with one little hiccup, these things happen when you order livestock in the mail. I tried buying snails from my local pet store but they wanted an astonishing $8.99 per snail which blew my mind!! So this was a no brainer for me. 50 snails would have ran me almost $500 at the pet store, yikes and shame on the pet store. Very satisfied with this company. Great product, incredibly fast shipping. I’m a happy snail owner!!I will definitely order again if need be...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

These are brown and turquoise...pretty, if a snail can be pretty.
I have had other trapdoor snails that were all brown. I didn't want to become an expert on snails...just wanted to control some algae in my koi pond. I guess these are a different kind than the brown ones. My pond is large so I bought 50 snails...probably could have done more but wanted to see what these were like. I am pleased that the shell comes to a point and about the top 1/3 of the shell is a pretty turquoise color that makes them visible as they gobble away on my black liner. Almost as fun as fish. They came in good shape, packed in water, by mail. There were about 15 tiny baby snails (a gift?) and I didn't count the rest but it seemed like about 50. They were all over 1/2" as described. I've read that they don't breed in large quantities so we'll see how many more I end up with.
