Best $15 I've ever spent!
So bear with me for story time, if you will. Somehow a single snail (one) got into one of my aquariums, I assume by hitching a ride via a snail free plant. Despite the fact I've been around aquariums my entire life, having three aquariums set up currently (35g, 75g,and 90g), ignoring that I know it only takes ONE snail to ruin everything so I Should Not Do This, I very foolishly plopped it in my 35g aquarium. Human hubris, I'll admit that. Now, depending on fish stock and tank size a very simple solution is to get a minimum of five+ Corydoras (they shoal my friends, happy cory are helpful cory) and kiss your snail problems goodbye. Seriously, the ground zero tank had that single snail for several months (I couldn't move fast enough to catch it) and thanks to the diligence of thirteen corydoras there are zero snails in that tank. No snail sightings, no sign of eggs, no moments of did the gravel move or am I losing it, nothing. Now moving on to the 35g. In a single month I that lone snail has created a massive infestation. There are eggs everywhere, snails of various sizes on absolutely everything, and A Very Upset About The Driftwood Eggs Bristlenose, it's awful. There are very few solutions to this contamination: copper (I don't feel inclined to medicate a tank of small fish in a feeble hope it kills the snails), remove the fish and boil everything (I'll never be able to catch them again in my larger tanks), snail traps (nothing suggests they actually work), or... Enter this purchase, which I like to call The Snail Squeegee. I have never bought something that is so deeply satisfying to use, to the point where I actually get a little excited when I see snails pop up on the glass. This product is very easy to use, doesn't seem to concern the fish whatsoever (my Dwarf Gourami likes to assist me by following my hand, he's offering me moral support), and seeing the snails pop off is delightful. I'm giving this five stars because I'm at a breaking point and this product very effectively makes Snails Go Away Right Now, but my only complaint is I have no idea how I'm supposed to properly get the snails out of the clear bit? Waving it around in the middle of the yard works, or a steady stream of water, so this isn't a deal breaker for me but maybe something should pop off for easy dumping? Unclear. I would also like it if the clear chamber part was a bit longer to hold more snails. After a certain point if I tilt to get one at an odd angle I have had an escapee a couple of times, but ultimately it's not a deal breaker for me. Now, that said, as therapeutic as this product is, it won't solve a longterm snail problem unless there's something to stop it at the source. Thankfully I have a team of pygmy corydoras who've been working overtime on egg consumption and I just might hire on some new recruits. Words of advice: If anyone has a snail infestation in a community tank, get yourself a very handy snail squeegee and five+ corydoras and you'll be golden. Or depending on your fish stock (ex: larger and/or aggressive cichlids who will just eat corys) just skip meals for a couple of days and they'll turn on the snails. A good gravel cleaner should also help with cleaning out eggs. TL;DR this is a fabulously satisfying product that solves part of a problem and the only thing that'd make it better is a bigger chamber for scooping up snails.

Best snail catching gadget so far
I've tried lots of snail catching gadgets, mostly of the bait attracting type, and by far, this is the best for manually removing small invasive snails from your tank walls. The head of the device pivots so you can get to the snails at odd angles. The handle does extend to abut 1 foot. The clear catching bucket below can be pivoted to open for easy dumping out of the caught snails. To use, gently press the device under the snails on the wall, then gently slide upwards to make the white wheel roll and it catches the snails and dumps them in the clear catcher section below. It works very well and easy to use. It doesn't catch snails on plants on on the substrate. It's a bit pricey at $26, but it's well made from Japan, so hopefully will last a while. Overall a good buy and I highly recommend it and would repurchase if necessary.

Pretty good for snail removal off glass
This has worked really well to remove the majority of snails from my fish tank. Easy to clean and operate. Of course it’s only meant to remove snails from the glass, not the other objects in the tank so it does become a daily task for quite a while. Due to the bulkiness of, the catch compartment, you are unable to get close to the substrate line, which can leave some snails until they move further up the glass (maybe I am using it wrong? The catch compartment is movable). I would absolutely recommend this to anyone dealing with a pesky snail infestation.

Brilliant!!!
The only thing that could make this better would be an even longer handle for the deep tanks. It is such a huge help for getting snails off the glass. One of my tanks has a rim around the top and I do find it is sometimes pushing the snails up to the rim instead of scooping them up, but it is still easier to collect them by swiping a finger under the rim instead of going elbow-deep one at a time to try to catch them by hand. It holds from the tiniest of newborn pond snails to medium sized ramshorn, and it holds quite a few of them .. more than I thought it would! They empty easily with a couple of taps against the container. Now if only this tool could make the snails stop being so frisky all the time so there weren't so many of them!! I was sure this was a gimmick, but I'm pleasantly surprised!

This works but it's overpriced
I don't know exactly why something made out of 2 pieces of cheap plastic should cost $20,- can anyone explain?... Yes it works . Yes it's overpriced, but the alternative would be picking snails by hand , I guess ?... It's a great idea - but come on, it does not cost that much to produce it, the price is a rip off. It is not a "high quality" item, it gets all wobbly and not running smooth after few times and the lid doesn't close well but it still works for picking those nasty snails out.

Great product
Size is compact quality is good functions great. After what became a full time job of removing invasive snails I needed to find a solution my boyfriend was going insane the 135 gal and 10 gal tanks became infested after new snail free plants were added. This tiny roller u just put it under snail roll up and it captures them in the container easy to use. Between this and the snail trap all I hear from my boyfriend is sheer joy and relief on how much easier and effective the product has made controlling our problem. Highly recommend would not be without 1 wish there were there were more sizes to choose from to cover more area for my large tanks

Oh my, no more picking snails out by hand. HALLELUJAH
I made the mistake of being too into instant gratification and couldn't help but put my pretty new plants into my aquarium straight away... not once... not twice.. but THREE TIMES... and ended up with THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SNAILS. The Ramshorns... sure no problem, they are pretty to look at and don't seem to breed as quickly... The bladder snails... sure... I guess, they'll help me handle the algae, etc.... but the MTS... oh my goodness. I was so excited to have them since I've heard SO MANY great things about their effectiveness but WOW do they breed fast!! I had hundreds! I was pulling them out with my fingers or aquarium tweezers (the long ones) and these guys are so smart too! After a few weeks of doing this, they rarely come to the top, just swarm the bottom and make me nuts and if you accidently tapped the glass with the tweezers before getting them, they pop into their shell and fall off the glass. This device has made a world of difference in my tank. SO EASY TO USE and SO EFFECTIVE! No regrets here. 10/10 would buy again

So satisfying and fun
I can't believe I'm writing a review for a snail catcher, but this thing works so great! My 29 gallon tall tank was infested with trumpet snails, but no more. I had cut back on feeding, so they were forced to climb the walls. I used this faithfully wave after wave all weekend, and now a week later I'm still getting a few stragglers but it is a HUGE difference from before. It sounds weird, but it was so much fun to get them that I am almost a little sad I don't have as many to get! This will get the big ones all the way down to the babies! So easy to use also, I know it's not cheap, but well worth it!

it really works.
Wow what a great bit of kit. Now the price for what it is isn't great however this thing really works so worth every penny. It's only going to be useful on flat surfaces and I've found that slowly does it yealds better results. The clear catcher area folds out to make it easier to kick them out and it's telescopic, so I don't have to get my hands wet. I've added pictures of my first and second attempt. You won't regret buying this simple device... Good hunting

Works perfectly! Highly recommend!
I have to admit when looked at the product online I was a bit skeptical particularly given the price but this thing is perfectly designed. Keep the arm fairly parallel to the tank wall and it works flawlessly. I mean flawlessly. It grabs the tiniest snail to anything smaller than... ~5-6mm. Its quick and easy to use and the little trap door makes empty the snails a breeze. I don't mind having a few snails to do some cleanup but this rig makes it easy to keep the population under control when I stupidly overfeed.
