Great case with a minor quibble
What can I say - if you're looking for a solid 'locking' (more on that later in the review) 2 rifle case, then it's hard to go wrong with this one. I use this to secure my DMR AR15 build (40" long exactly) and my Remington 870 home defense shotty (38" long) and it works flawlessly for both weapons. The padding is nice and thick, outer shell case is solid, and the closing clasps are very beefy - the only complaint I have (and it's minor) - is the (2) locks that are embedded in the closing clasps are not very trust-worthy to secure. There is a lot of key slop and when locked, it doesn't ooze any kind of confidence that these locks would hold; however, there are (2) padlock locations and I threw on a pair of Master locks and my worries went away. It is very hard to find a case like this and at this price point - not everyone can throw a 750lb gun safe in their home and this is a great alternative for keeping weapons secure and safe - and I have no doubts that this would transport firearms safely as well. Please keep in mind - if your rifle/shotty is longer than 40" - this will NOT work - weapons must be shorter than 40" or you would have to cut into the padding which I would not recommend. All-in, glad I purchased and does what I need it to do (safe gun storage and easy transport to the range)

SKB Case
I won't be traveling with this case until next month (DEC.2012) so I will post a review when I'm back from my trip to inform you of my traveling results from the case it self.... The case itself arrived on time, no visible damage, case looked great....now to the bad which is not really bad at all, if you no SKB and their reputation they really no how to take care of their customers. What happened with my case was a lock issue, I told my local gun dealer and he said just give SKB a call and they should take care of you. I did. I called and told them I was having an issue with one of the locks, the guy on the phone said no problem, give me your address and I'll send you a new lock and just like that no questions asked I received my new lock in the mail in about 3 days. The company is located about 6 hours south of me and I was expecting a week or more but overall this is a company you want to trust your gun or any of your equipment with. First of all, this is made in the USA product and they really stand behind their cases. How can you go wrong, quit wasting your time reading this and go and buy the case already....Cheers!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Very pleased
I bought this case when I moved across the country. I packed a Mossberg 500 shotgun and Glock 19 pistol into this case and had the movers haul it in the truck with the rest of the furniture. The exterior is solid and sturdy and the overall construction as well as the wheels and tow handle are of good quality. The interior will house two carbines easily if they're side by side. I placed my pistol underneath the shotgun to avoid contact and even though there was a little bulge in the foam I was able to close the case with little effort. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bracket holes used to insert your own lock are a bit too small for a nice padlock size lock. You simply won't be able to use a lock with big shackles so you'll need to use a locker size lock (like the ones you use for a gym locker) instead. That said, the case has two additional locks that while not the best quality, you get a total of 4 locking components, albeit of mediocre quality. In summary, if someone wants to get into this case they don't have to be a pro to do it. I decent pair of pryers to cut open the locks and a little time to break the remaining 2 locks and they're in. That said, unless they know you have guns inside, it does require a bit of effort on the part of the thief.

Great case, as advertised
So far I've only put one rifle into the case and it has worked just fine. There are 4 latches for the case. 2 latches have integrated locks; the included keys fit only in one direction. Lock operation feels smooth when turning the key without unnecessary friction. The integrated locks are small but don't feel cheap to me, they seem integrated into the latch very well. There are also two small latch-loops for 2 small hard locks if additional security is desired. The exterior of the case is rugged as advertised and has wheels for easy transport. I have no complaints about the sturdiness of the case. The handle for hand-carry seems sturdy enough and I would use it for short distances to a car. The interior of the case is sufficiently padded with pelican foam, with a more dense foam lining the edges. For the price I paid I can't complain.

My second SKB ATA Case
This is the second one of these I have purchased. I still have the other one, but needed a second. It is light weight, 15lbs by my scale although the listed weight is more, and well made. It is one of the lightest and strongest airline cases I have found. My first case has stood up to many airline trips and I have no doubt will last for many more. It is versatile and handles rifles, shotguns and ammunition quite well. Of course, long guns must be capable of disassembly in order to fit. I do concur with a previous reviewer that the internal locks on this case are quite flimsy. I use, and recommend, using padlocks.

Very nice case, other than the lock clasps
Had to drill out the clasps slightly to fit this standard duty master lock. Clasps we’re a bit light duty to begin with. Anything of enough value to transport in a case of this price range deserves more than garbage luggage size locks

Good quality robust rifle case.
This case has lovely build quality. It’s very robust with lovely foam padding inside and a thick foam padded divider. It fits my Weihrauch HW100 KT laminite absolutely perfectly with scope, silencer and bipod all attached. When the lid closes it is a snug fit and nothing inside moves. My Rifle is 37 inches long and 9 inches wide with scope attached to give you an idea on the inner size of this case. There is a little bit of room to spare around it but not much. Yeah the locks are a bit basic but it isn’t a gun safe. For me it’s protecting my rifle from being knocked about and keeping it nice which this case certainly does. It’s a bit on the pricey side but if you have a nice rifle then I feel it’s worth the investment to get this case.
