All pieces are they same, all pieces connect with each other. There is no "male/female" connector designation. Blue only mates to blue; gray to gray; etc. You can get these types of connectors with different terminals pins based on the wire gauge for your application. **Q: I damaged one of the terminals when I crimped it. I used them to relocate the battery for my backup generator into our heated utility room. Battery stays warm for optimum starting at subzero temperature. I used these instead of a battery disconnect switch for ease of installation. Looked at using the Generac battery heat pads but they turn on when temp drops to about freezing and turn off when temp gets into the 40 something deg f.
