Growing Your Own Plants
I didn’t know what to expect when I found this book. I haven’t really learned much from other little books like this, but this one was different. This book It brings back memories of a book I read many years ago about the growing a business ideas by the man who built Smith & Hawkins, the gardening tool seller.Anyway, you won’t become rich and famous (well maybe YOU will) by reading this book but it has a positively infectious attitude about becoming successful if you do something you love.I enjoyed this little book and learned a few things along the way.

Gave me ideas I implemented right away.
A long-term goal of mine is to establish a home-based plant nursery, if nothing else to help offset some of the costs of growing things for my food forest. This book has given me the tools I need to work toward that goal. I hadn't even gotten halfway into the book and I was off to make changes on my property and in how and where I start my cuttings and seedlings. It took a couple days worth of hard work but those changes are already paying off. Basically, I looked at what I have on-hand with new eyes, David the Good's eyes, and saw the potential that had been sitting there unused for years.I converted an old Rubbermaid shed into a seedling/cutting greenhouse, since I'd been having issues with cats and other critters killing my nursery plants. It was given to us and, our kids now adults, used to play in it. It didn't cost me a dime! That's what I love about David's philosophy, just do the best with what you have. There's no need for expensive gadgets or tools and David will show you there are many ways to accomplish the same end-goal; on a budget! That's what made me follow David's channel and website because I had come across so many other Youtube channels that inspired me to grow my own food forest but very few of them had practical answers for me or my small budget situation. That's where David the Good comes in. He chops down a few small trees, makes a frame out of sticks and banana/palm leaves and BAM!; compost bin, baby! If you can't afford a wheelbarrow, get a tarp. He's like the redneck MacGyver of the food forest but with a cool hat and a machete.

Everything you need to know in a short book.
I'll start out with the whine (which I'll deal with through Amazon) all the print on mine is tiny and the letters overlap. But I'm reading it anyway and it's really, really good. David is making it very simple like he makes a lot of things. I'm not going anywhere near the scale he's gone or as specialized; I'm going to start out with simple tomato plants because everybody loves those here and I'm really good at growing them healthy and quickly. I'll start out with what I'm good at and move on from there. I live on a dead-end street and there is an animal rescue that draws a lot of volunteers who are the perfect market for my organic eggs and I'll try a few tomato plants and see what happens. Being careful of being miserly like I can be will bite me in the butt and I can't thank David enough for steering his readers clear on doing that in areas where presentation is important and not doing things that are labor intensive to save a few bucks. He's clear on what is worth spending money on, and what's not.He has a funny, intelligent, friendly writing style that's very appealing, easy and fun to read while providing his reader with his decades and hard won experience.I really love it like I do all his other books and can highly recommend it for anyone considering making some cash selling plants. All of his other books are in my library and because I also live in Florida are my go-to resources for all things gardening here.

I believe I can do it now!
Yesterday, I received 'The easy way to start a home-based plant nursery and make THOUSANDS in your spare time' By David The Good. "The" is kind of a strange middle name... Anyway, It came on time and in pristine condition enclosed in a stylish Amazon bubble pack envelope. I was dazzled by the beautiful glossy full color paperback cover. It was a quick and delightful read punctuated with lots of neat campy pictures from David's lifetime of plant selling adventures. I just couldn't put it down till I had finished.Sometimes when you read a how to book the author will talk in wild generalities, candy coat everything and provide you with nothing but cherry picked unrealistic examples of how something might go under only optimal conditions. David The Good does not engage in this sort of nonsense. While providing clear and useful information with tons of real world personal experience he entertains with funny anecdotes and encourages with maxims like, "Fear is the passion killer, the obstacle that holds you back from success." I didn't even make it past the introduction without finding myself grasping for a highlighter. Now I know why David is REALLY in Central America. He's hiding from the plant mafia because he has given us all their secrets in this book.I know that I personally was unsettled at the thought of having to apply for a license, being inspected and deal with the dreaded tax man until I read this book. David gives good advice at dealing with these hazards. He even advocates turning to some government agencies which I never would have considered otherwise as possible funding sources. I'm truly encouraged going forward.

Don't waste your money!
I think it could have a better title I really could. It not a book for advice or to help anyone really. Its just someone's journey of selling some plants (some I get the feeling he's not really sure what they are, not a good start) at the local fair and car boot, and then he sold a few more. That's about it!If you are wanting proper advice go on a course, get a book keeping book, speak for the depart of agriculture or the depart for rural affairs, or go on their websites the info you really need is there. Sign up for a pesticide spraying course cos you cant spray without it, (UK) and enjoy it! Put the few quid from this book into that spraying course..
