🔧 Wire Your Imagination!
The Eisco Labs Nichrome Resistance Wire is a 90ft reel of 20 gauge SWG wire, specifically designed for laboratory applications. Composed of a low nickel, high iron alloy, it can withstand temperatures up to 1150°C, making it suitable for various scientific experiments and electrical uses. This wire is not intended for food, drug, or household applications, ensuring a focused and safe usage environment.

Great product!
Used it for a apparatus to preform pyrolysis and some for rebuild able vape coils and it works great for both applications. Recommend buying this laboratory grade over the other options on here.

I use this for pyrography
I recently switched to Razertip pens for woodburning (pyrography), and decided to go with the pens that allowed me to make my own tips. I have been quite happy with this wire. I also have used unwound guitar strings (gibson makes an unwound electric string that is only a bit smaller diameter than I'd prefer). Compared to the guitar strings, this wire is a wee bit more flexible, and I often find the tips bending to the side as I use them. Not a big deal, though, and I will certainly use this reel up until it's gone--which should take a few years....[Note: I cut this into small pieces of wire and bend it with a pliers. I then put the two "ends" into a vice grip and hold the exposed wire over an anvil. I use a ball-peen hammer to shape the blades.]

Defective Wire
I got this wire to make a heating element for a vacuum form table i was building. I used an online calculator to determine how much I needed for my application and what the power requirements would be. This wire did not work as expected at all. It didn't come close to reaching the desired temperature and the current draw was WAY off. (It was supposed to be 8 Amps at 120v, and it was barely pulling 2 Amps)After doing some trial and error, and ordering wire from another company, I found that the resistance of this wire was more than doubling when it got hot, while the other wire I ordered was only increasing by about 10%. The other wire works great, and I now have a rats nest of this wire sitting in a corner of my shop.

I used this in a hot wire cutter
I'm cutting 36" wide EPS and PPS foam. I have cut 12 sections with no observable deterioration of the wire. The foam coats the wire but has been removed quickly by scraping. This guage is heavy enough that drag in the foam is not a significant concern and can be controlled by a slow pull with relatively low tension. The thinner wires gave much more trouble with sag and breaking. This is the best compromise for power applied to cutting speed.

Recomended
works well with ceramic items fired several times, no flaking or carbon build up.

Good product,
Good product, Only it seems to be hard to handle. I think this is the nature of this metal.

not well handled
The wire was not evenly wound on the spool. It looked like some kid took the wire off of a larger spool and wound it on this smaller spool. the wire was kinked and I needed it straight. I am disappointed in the way the wire was handled. nevertheless, the wire worked ok. Maybe other rolls will be straight and evenly wound on the spool by a machine.

great for cutting foam
used with a Lionel transformer to cut foam. worked like a dream. would buy again, maybe thineer gauge next time.
